Boston's Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed. "What's your way?"

Ellie's smile finally bloomed to fruition. "You have fifteen minutes to get me to a bed, or I'm taking you right where we are." When he merely stared at her, she chuckled. "Think you can manage that, Law Boy?"
His eyes fell to her mouth, and he licked his own lips.
"Right here works for me."

Chapter Twenty-Three
They came together in an explosion of need. Fingers dipping into hair, lips clinging to each other, they pressed their straining bodies to one another, already impatient for more.
Boston backed Ellie against the secretary's desk. Plastering his mouth to the side of her neck, he reached behind her long enough to shove the phone and forgotten datebook out of the way. Then he clasped her hips in his hands and lifted her onto the edge.
"You can't imagine how much I missed you," he rasped as he unhooked the button on her slacks and slid the zipper down.
Ellie hummed. "Probably about as much as I missed you."
Needing the taste of him in her mouth, she cradled his head in her hands and forced his face up for another kiss. He complied and deserted the task of shedding her pants to stroke his thumbs up either side of her jaw. Ellie cupped the back of his head and made a restless sound as she pushed her tongue farther between his teeth.
He was moving way too slow for her. Her juices were zinging, and the tempo from his hands and mouth were about three paces behind. Jerking back slightly, she watched his startled gaze move to hers.
"Wha—"
But his answer came when she crossed her hands over her chest and lifted the hem of her shirt. He growled in approval 320

and reached to assist. As he pulled the last of her blouse off, she fumbled behind her, unfastening her bra. But before she was even done, he was cupping her breasts in his hands and rubbing his thumbs over the cloth. Just as she finished her task, the strap fell loose and slid off her shoulders.
Boston swooped down and kissed every inch of exposed skin as he pulled the contraption the rest of the way off.
Nuzzling her breasts with his nose, he grinned when he saw her nipples pout.
He glanced up and smiled boyishly. "I think they missed me too."
Ellie couldn't stand it a moment longer. She wrapped a hand around the back of his head and yanked his face back to the straining bead of one puckered tip. His eyes closed; she sucked in a breath as she watched his lashes rest against his cheek and his lips part to receive her. Then his tongue made contact and she jerked in surprise, remembering how potent his mouth was.
He made a sound deep in his throat and lavished her, making her arch and want to beg.
"God, you still taste so good."
Reaching blindly, Ellie slid her palms down the side of his ribs and to the waist of his slacks. She unbuckled his belt, unzipped him, and slid his trousers and boxers down. Just as her fingers wrapped around the length of him, he jerked.
"No, El..." He groaned. "Slow down. Slow down, honey.
We're going to go too fast."
Letting out a growl of frustration, Ellie latched onto his hair with two handfuls and forced his gaze to hers. When his wide, 321

surprised eyes lifted, she gritted out, "It's been ten years. I can't wait. We'll go slow next time."
His mouth dropped. For a moment, he could only gape.
Then he morphed into action, hands fumbling as he reached for her pants. Ellie hopped off the side of the desk as he pushed them down her hips. While he worked there, she attacked the buttons on his shirt.
But the process was too frustratingly slow.
"Damn it." She grasped the opened edges of his shirt and yanked them apart, tearing the rest of his fastenings off entirely.
Boston let out a surprised laugh as a button flew past his nose. Others rained down around them, sprinkling the desktop with a pebbled cacophony of sound.
"Hurry," Ellie encouraged, jumping back onto the desk and wrapping her legs around his hips.
He touched her and she cried out, pressing her face to his newly exposed chest.
"You're so wet," he said in awe.
Ellie grabbed his shoulders for support, her nails biting into hard, heated flesh. "So, what are you waiting for?"
"Oh, I don't know," he gave the lazy answer, covering her knees with his palms and gently easing her thighs apart so he could step between them. "Maybe I just want to make you beg."
His grin teased as he leaned forward to rub the glistening tip of himself across her opening, only to pull back when her body gave a hard jolt.

"Bastard," she rasped, arching toward him for even the slightest hint of contact.
He gave a husky laugh. "I don't care how rushed you feel,"
he said, leaning only the top half of his body toward her so he could press a light kiss to her forehead. "I've waited too long for this. I'm going to savor every second."
"Can't you savor them while you're inside me?" she whined.
Boston moved his face to bury his nose in her hair. With his free hand, he tugged a damp piece of hair off her sweat-soaked cheek.
"This is just killing you, isn't it?"
"Yes," she ground out and reached down to touch his hard length. But he evaded her fingers.
"Okay, okay," he relented with a smile. "Calm down, woman."
Without further ado, he pushed inside her. Both were equally surprised by the ease in which he entered; Boston gritted his teeth like he was fighting the impulsive twitch of his hips and slam home. Having no mercy, Ellie arched against him, and he slid all the way to her core. He gasped and snagged her hips to still her.
"El—oh, God. Wait, wait. You're so tight. Am I hurting you?"
Ellie lifted her face and caught his face in her hands, pulling his head down until they were pressing their foreheads together. "If you stop now, I'll kill you," she hissed, slinging her legs around his waist and moving against him.
He groaned and kissed her. "I love you so much."

"I love you too," she said.
"'Bout time you said it," he panted, straining for more. To accommodate him, Ellie slid her butt closer to the edge of the desk, her thighs spreading further apart as she did. The slight change in position had him pumping with a renewed fury.
Words failed them both; they could only cling and absorb the shock of sensations whiplashing through them.
"I'm making you...repeat...those...words again...when this is...over," Boston managed to say between his labored breathing.
Ellie threw back her head and laughed. "With pleasure,"
she said and came, tightening her entrance around him and throwing out her arms wide while keeping her neck arched.
It reminded Boston so much of the time he'd taken her in the rain that he followed only a microsecond behind her.
Burying his face in her shoulder, he grabbed her tight and shouted out his release.
"So, where does this leave us?" Boston murmured.
Ellie stirred, lifting her heavy eyelids drowsily. "Hmm?"
Sprawled on top of the vacant secretary's desk and under two hundred pounds of naked male flesh, she raised her head and gazed about the office. Some kind of memo was stuck to her arm. As she reached to tug it off, Boston combed his fingers through her hair to extract a pen.
"Are we together now?" he asked, tossing the pen aside and returning his fingers to her hair.
Wanting to evade the subject, Ellie focused on closing the still-open planner and moving it away fr

bodies. "Well, I'd say so. I can't see how we could get any more together than this?"
He leaned forward to sniff her locks. "You know what I mean, Ellie."
Her heart melted. "I'm sorry," she whispered and turned to kiss his shoulder. He tasted of musky man and dried sweat.
Closing her eyes, she pressed her cheek to the spot and confessed. "I just...I'm not sure. I don't even know where to start."
He smoothed his hand over his hair and kissed her jaw. "I guess we start with a declaration. Do you still claim to love me now that I'm no longer inside you?"
Lifting her eyebrows, Ellie glanced down. "But you are still inside me."
Boston blinked. "Oh, right." He levered himself up with his hands and slowly began crawling off her. "I'm probably squishing you too."
Ellie actually missed his weight, but she sat up as well.
Lying on a flat wooden surface wasn't the most comfortable of positions.
"Okay, I'm out," he told her, standing there naked with his hands on his hips and giving her the most expectant stare.
Ellie smiled and had to swallow back a giggle. The man was still wearing his black trouser socks...and that was it. "I don't see how I could help but love you with all I have," she said, skimming her gaze down his body. "My, my, but you've grown up nice, Law Boy."
His eyes lit with pleasure. "You too," he said, glancing briefly at her breasts and bare thighs. He licked his lips as his 325

gaze strayed to her mouth. But as he started to lean toward her, she pulled back.
He paused. "What?"
Ellie swallowed. "What about Cassie?" she finally asked.
"I'll call Mom and ask if she can stay the night over there."
"That's not what I meant."
Boston sighed and leaned down to press his forehead against hers. "I don't understand why you think Cassie would be against the idea of us getting together."
"I'm just thinking about when it's over. What are we going to tell her when—"
He scowled. "I don't plan on it ever being over. What I have in mind for us is pretty damn permanent."
Lifting her face in surprise, Ellie sucked in a breath. "What are you saying?"
His expression changed. And she knew exactly what he was going to say. She couldn't believe it. And she couldn't stop the leap of joy that consumed her.
But just as he opened his mouth, the phone rang. Ellie yelped. Being two inches from her bare leg, it vibrated through her thigh.
Boston cursed. After checking the caller ID, he picked up the receiver and snapped, "She's still here," and hung up again. His eyes slid toward Ellie. "Cameron," he said.
She smiled. "Dying of curiosity, is he?"
"He can go ahead and die," Boston grumbled. Then he grinned. "I guess we should be thankful he didn't just walk over and ask about you."

Ellie glanced warily toward the closed door. "Should we lock that?"
"Nah. He knows better. Besides, if he does come over, I owe him a peek at you anyway."
Ellie jerked upright. "Say what?"
Boston grinned. "I accidentally saw Olivia naked once. It's only fair to let him see you."
Frowning, Ellie covered her breasts with one arm. "I don't see how that's fair at all."
Boston's smile spread as he bent over her and kissed her bare stomach. "He never stops razzing me about seeing Livy and being jealous of what he's got. But if he were to see you right here, just like this, he'd never call me jealous again."
Ellie couldn't help but experience a spark of power, realizing Boston thought she could compete with the striking Olivia Banks. Still, she shook her head in amused disapproval.
"You two have the strangest friendship."
"Yeah," he agreed on a smile and plopped down until his head was next to hers. "When we were kids, I couldn't stand him."
"Hmm. That's what your mother told me." Ellie turned on her side to face him. "What changed?"
"Actually, it was you." He reached up to brush her hair behind her ear.
Ellie frowned in confusion. "Me?"
He laughed. "God, Ellie, walking away from you that day in the hospital hurt...a lot. I lost the love of my life and my baby all in one blow. I couldn't tell anyone about it either, because I was so ashamed of what I'd done and hadn't done. Then 327

suddenly, there was Cameron drunk and pathetic because his first wife had killed herself. And, I don't know, I just latched onto him. I knew exactly what kind of pain he was feeling; there was this instant bond between us."
Boston laughed suddenly as he remembered it. "Hell, he probably didn't even know it, but I was looking to him for sympathy as much as he was looking to me for it. We've been close ever since."
Ellie touched his face, charmed and saddened by his story.
"I never thought about what it would do to you, telling you Cassie was dead. I...didn't know it'd actually hurt you. God, Boston, I'm so sorry. I didn't—"
"Shh." He set a finger over her lips. "Let's not relive old regrets." Taking her hand and bringing it to his mouth to kiss her knuckles, he added, "As long as you let me stick around for the next baby, I forgive you completely. Besides, I don't plan on screwing things up the way I did last time either, so you shouldn't be forced into making that kind of decision."
Eyes opening in surprise, Ellie blinked and gaped at him.
"Next baby?"
His eyes twinkled as he smile. "I'll take another little girl if you don't mind."
"Another little..." Her voice died off as she started to repeat him.
"I mean, look at what a great job we did on Cass...and she was a complete accident." He looked at her with hot, wanting eyes as he curled his body closer and nuzzled his nose against her neck. "So, just think what a baby girl would be like if we actually planned her."

"Excuse me," Ellie said, sitting up and staring down at Boston as if he were insane. "But it's hard enough to be a single parent of one...and you want me to have another?"
"Single parent?" he said in confusion. "Who said anything about being a single parent?"
Ellie arched a brow, waiting for him to say what she wanted to hear.
"Oh, come on," he said. "I'm not going to propose here.
What'll we tell Cassie when she asks how I asked you to marry me...that we were both buck naked on my secretary's desk, languid from an earth-shattering climax? I think not."
Ellie arched an eyebrow. "So, what are you suggesting then, Mr. Kincaid?"
He grinned. "Well, first, I'd like to buy a ring." He paused and sent her a thoughtful look. "Are you more into diamonds, rubies, emeralds or sapphires?"
Her mouth fell open. "Boston," she whispered.
He shrugged. "Okay, I'll just guess then."
He smiled when she gasped.
"Then," he went on, reaching out to walk his fingers up her leg, "I'm going to take you somewhere nice to eat. We can bring Cassie if you want. And as they carry out the main course, the ring will be served on a silver tray—not in the food, of course. Then it'd be too sticky for you to wear. But as you're gaping at it, kind of like you're staring at me right now, I'll get down on one knee, right there in front of the whole restaurant full of complete strangers, and ask you to be my wife."

Ellie swallowed and managed to close her mouth. "And..."
she licked her lips. "And what if I say no?"
He paused, a slight frown marring his features. "Why would you want to do a thing like that?"
"Well...marriage is a big step, Boston. I—"
"Hell, Ellie," Boston
interrupted. "I hope you're not suggesting we keep on this way. Because I don't think I'd survive getting laid once every ten years or so. I want to marry you. I want you and Cassie to come live with me. I want you to be my secretary so we can make love on your desk every night before going home. And then after we tuck Cassie and her little sister in, I want to take you to my bed and do it all over again. I want...I want it all...marriage, a family...we can even get a pet if you'd like. Just don't tell me no."
"Then, how about this idea," she said, smiling and sliding her breasts and legs and stomach against him.
Boston caught his breath, going instantly hard at the feel of her soft supple body slipping so smoothly across his. He bent his head to kiss her, but she pulled away to continue talking.
"We tell the family—and Cassie—that nice little restaurant story, but you do the real deal right here as you take me again."
"No. I want to do this right," he argued, his eyes losing their focus as he tried to kiss her. But she once again evaded his mouth. He groaned. "Ellie. I'm not messing it up this time."

"Make an honest woman of me right now, Boston Kincaid, or I won't let you touch me...until you propose."
He cursed and rolled his eyes. "Marry me," he demanded even as he caught her face and forced a long, smoldering kiss from her.
Ellie sighed and sank against him, wrapping her arms around his neck. As his mouth moved down her throat, she finally answered, "There. Was that so hard?"
