She was wrong.
Puma wasn’t about to let her off the hook.
He stripped naked and helped her undress before they got into the sleeping bag together and he picked up where he’d left off earlier in the day.
Alexis thought she’d long since lost her ‘hard on’ from all his teasing, but it had merely been banked. He managed to stoke the smoldering fire up to a roaring conflagration in a matter of minutes.
She forgot all about the campsite not nearly far enough away for true privacy.
Her entire being seemed to focus in only on his touch, not even upon the two of them entangled beneath a wide starry sky.
That flickered through her mind, though, each time the cover slipped, revealing their combined, naked flesh glowing in the light of the moon.
She explored as much of his flesh as she could, enthralled with the feel of it and the taut muscles beneath that seemed to ripple at her touch. He lifted away from her after a few moments to study her face.
His lay in shadow and she wondered at his thoughts.
Maybe they were as scattered and chaotic as hers were?
He leaned down to match his lips to hers after a moment, plucked at hers almost playfully for a moment and then lifted his head, caught her thigh and watched her face while he made a spot for his hips and speared the head of his cock into her.
Goosebumps sprang to life all over her chest and neck when she felt him testing that flesh, scattering like a startled flock of geese. He shifted his hold on her, shifted upward to delve a little deeper.
Slowly, her flesh parted for him, adjusted slowly as he cupped his hips and pushed deeper, slowly deeper until she could feel a slight burn. He eased the pressure then, allowed himself to slip outward along her channel and then pressed into her again with the same slow deliberation until he had filled her completely.
Her heart thundered in her chest as he settled fully against her, in no hurry to rush toward completion, merely lay savoring the feel of her body wrapped tightly around his.
She savored it.
After a handful of moments, he pressed a little deeper, tilted his head to fit his lips to hers and explored her mouth with the same savoring deliberation until she could hardly catch her breath.
He rocked his hips, dragging his cock perhaps halfway out and then thrusting again, deeply, grinding his lower belly against her clit in a way that sent sharp shafts of pleasure stabbing through her each time. It wound the tension inside of her rapidly and tightly, held her just below the horizon while the tension grew more and more intense.
Abruptly, he released her lips and let out an explosive breath, as if he’d holding it.
She felt deep shudders rippling through him and then he began to move a little faster, deep, grinding thrusts that set off a clitoral climax that set off a deeper explosion that went off like an atom bomb.
He covered her mouth in a deep kiss as her body began to convulse in ecstasy, absorbing her moans, uttering his own as his body was racked with echoing quakes of pleasure.
Braced on his elbows, he sagged against her heavily when he’d ceased to shudder in release.
He made no attempt to separate his body from hers.
He nuzzled his face against her neck, though.
Alexis found she enjoyed it. She didn’t know if it was actually affection, but it felt enough like it to make her happy.
After a moment, he dragged kisses from her neck to her lips and kissed her lingeringly.
His cock rose to attention.
He hesitated and then, with obvious reluctance, lifted his hips and dragged the thick, heavy thing from her channel.
She was surprised.
He studied her face ruefully. “I could go all night, baby, but then I’d die tomorrow.”
Alexis gaped at him. “Why?”
“Because Hawk would kill be deader than hell,” he said with a chuckle. “He reminds us at least five times a day that you weren’t engineered like we were and we have to be careful with you.”
That warmed her as nothing else she’d heard.
It also made a lump of emotion form in her throat.
Puma kissed the tip of her nose. “Come on. I need to get you back.”
* * * *
They reached the valley Raven’s group had bragged about the following afternoon and saw it was everything they’d said … and more.
Stunned, awed, they simply stood on the rise and stared at it for long moments, appreciating the sheer majesty of it.
“That’s the spot we picked right there,” Raven said, pointing to a waterfall in the distance.
The waterfall spilled into a fair sized lake.
After a few minutes, they loaded up again and headed out.
It was nearly dark by the time they reached the semi-permanent campsite Raven’s squad had set up.
Everyone bailed out of the vehicles, stretched and made short work of setting up their own camp. They left the materials tied to the roof to be unloaded at daybreak, and settled to heating up the food they’d brought.
For the first time, they didn’t set up a sentry. They did take turns getting up and walking the perimeter—just in case—but the place had the feel of isolation that meant security to all of them when they’d been chased all over hell’s half acre.
Alexis was a little disappointed and uneasy when Brahma didn’t claim her for the night, afraid he was really angry that he’d been forced to wait … and then wait more because they’d come upon Raven’s group before Puma had had sex with her.
He seemed cheerful enough the following day, though.
They stayed with Raven’s group after they’d unloaded and helped work on the homestead they were building.
It wasn’t until that evening after everyone had bedded down that Hawk met with Raven and discussed the business that had brought them.
They spoke low so Alexis wasn’t able to hear much, but she thought that Hawk had gotten the ‘proof’ he’d been after that, as far as they could ascertain, there was no kill switch for them to worry about. Of course, it went without saying that the bastards couldn’t really be trusted, any of them, but they did know that it had been brought up by the company and dismissed by the buyers and they had evidence to that effect.
No insurance that it hadn’t come up at another time and been implemented, but they felt like they could relax.
Raven agreed but also pointed out that they would have a family and that required planning for every contingency. He meant to. He suggested that Hawk consider it.
Hawk was thoughtful when he climbed into the sleeping bag with her. Without a word, he gathered her close, settling her head on the hard pillow of his upper arm.
“You heard?”
She sighed. “Enough.” She was silent a few moments. “I guess there’s no way to really be sure?”
“I can’t think of one,” Hawk said wryly. He moved closer and pressed a kiss to her temple. “He’s right. We need to consider our family and make sure we dot all the Is and cross all the Ts.”
The easy comment flooded Alexis’ mind with all sorts of questions. “You think I’m pregnant?”
He chuckled. “I think if you aren’t we’re going to lay siege till you are, baby.”
Her belly seemed to go weightless at that. Warmth spread through her. “You mean …. Does this mean …?”
He matched his lips to hers, kissed her lightly. “What did you think, baby?”
A touch of indignation fluttered through her. “I was supposed to figure it out?”
He laughed, more of a shaking sort of laugh than out loud. “You knew we were dumb animals when you hooked up with us.”
That doused the anger and instantly made her feel terribly sad. “Don’t say that! It isn’t true.”
“What part?” he asked wryly.
She thought it over. “What did you mean hooked up?”
“Well, I don’t know what you call it, but we call it mating.”
Alexis sat up and looked down at
him.
She could see he was dead serious. “So … when you … uh … met me at the shower ….”
“And convinced you to mate with me, I figured it was all settled and so did the rest of the squad. You’re saying it isn’t?”
She placed a hand over his lips when she saw she’d upset him. “I didn’t say that.”
He frowned. “What are you saying?”
“I’m saying I’d like to hear it.”
He settled down again and dragged her across his chest. “I’d like to hear it myself.”
Alexis felt like teasing him. “I think you’re the most wonderful … mate a woman could find!”
He grinned at her. “Ditto.”
She bit his chin. “Ditto?”
“That’s not good enough?”
“No! It isn’t.”
His eyes gleamed. “I love you Alexis … I don’t know your last name.”
“And I, Alexis Richards, love you Hawk.”
“Ditto.”
“Ditto.”
“Ditto.”
“And I thought they weren’t listening,” Hawk said dryly.
“I love you guys, too,” Alexis said, a laugh in her voice.
“Tomorrow is my night,” Brahma reminded them.
Alexis blew him a kiss and settled very happily in Hawk’s arms. “Roses and chocolates would be nice.”
“Can you settle for a house?” Hawk murmured.
“I suppose ….”
The End.
