I just stare at him in total shock.
Is he serious?
“Say something,” he finally says. “What do you think?”
I laugh. “What do I think? I think this is freaking incredible!” I do a little happy dance, and Daisy takes my hand and dances with me.
I’ve only just met the woman and we’re already dancing in her kitchen.
We giggle together, and Will opens his mouth to continue when we hear the bell at the front of the store ding, signaling that someone needs help in the store. Daisy practically yells, “I’m so excited! And so happy to meet you! Gotta run!” before she rushes through the door to help her customer.
“I’ve spoken with Emily and she has agreed to run the financials for the Am-Will Cookies for Charity Foundation,” Will says.
“Am-Will?” I ask. It almost sounds like Amber Wilson...but I have a feeling it’s not because it also sounds like Amber and William.
“It was either that or Wil-cowicz. Or Rasco-wilson. Kylie wanted it to be the MFB Cookies for Charity Foundation but what if we wanted it to be bigger than just MFB?” He’s rambling, and it’s adorable.
“We?” I ask.
“You and me,” he says softly. “This is our baby. Our first baby, anyway.”
My breath catches in my throat as I listen to him talk about actual kids—something I never thought he’d be ready to talk about.
“I want lots of other babies with you, Cookie. And I want forever with you. That’s why I have an important question I need to ask you.”
Tears fill my eyes as I watch William Rascowicz get down on one knee. He reaches into his jeans pocket and pulls out a blue box.
He flips open the lid, and I gasp when I see the princess cut rock sitting in there.
“Amber Lynn Cookie Wilson, will you marry me?”
I giggle as I look down at him. This crazy boy with the red hair who got arrested for breaking a window and held my hand as I learned about my family secrets and didn’t kiss me when I was sixteen and stopped in front of an elephant with a martini glass and threw snowballs at me...he’s going to be my husband. “Oh hell yes, I’ll marry you!”
He laughs as he pulls the ring from its cushion and slides it onto my finger. It’s about two sizes too big, and that’s so him that it makes me love it even more. It makes me love him even more.
And I can’t wait for him to drive me crazy for the rest of our lives together.
