“It’s a woman ghost,” I said in awe. “Can’t wait to meet her.”
“Reassure us all that it’s not going to be pay by the hour?” Brad asked.
“Pay by the night.” I looked at Creole, and we nodded in agreement. I threw my arms around his neck. “I love that we’re going to have a project.” I nibbled on his ear.

Later that evening, Creole took my arm. “Sneaking out of here would’ve been my first choice, but I didn’t want any more drama, so I got the okay.” He raised his voice. “On behalf of my wife and myself, I want to thank everyone for coming today.” He smiled down at me, hauling me to his side, and led me through the patio doors and out to the beach. The guests threw broken bits of shells, shouting, “Congratulations.”
We walked down the beach, holding hands, leaving the wedding reception behind.
“We’re married,” Creole said. “We’re lucky to have so many people in our lives that love us.”
I snuggled against my husband. “We are lucky.”
