The mighty Oodrosil settled in for the evening, resting its limbs and retracting its roots as it prepared to sleep. It was true that the great tree had sensed the Drayoom entering the building that morning and that Oodrosil had warned his friend, Ohman, of the encroaching danger. But in the end, the human who had called on the power of Oodrosil had been the true savior of the day.

Oodrosil had felt the moment when the human’s life force had changed and evaporated into the ether. The sacred yew knew that the passing of the one called Natalie was not a sad time at all—that she had simply been dispersed and reabsorbed into the body of the mighty Earth Dragon, Terrada.

It was, however, the other human, the one who had survived the attack today, who raised the curiosity of the great tree. There was something about the one they called Chris that made Oodrosil wonder at the part he would play in the future of not only Rune Corp, but also of magic itself. Oodrosil sensed a complicated mix of greatness and potential darkness in the boy, but the yew trusted Ohman’s wisdom about bringing him in to be part of their family.

Oodrosil did not, however, trust the Queen of the Earth Clan, and could not help but drift off to a troubling sleep that night, dreading the next time her minions or someone even worse would threaten the home that Ohman’s family and Oodrosil had built here among the humans.
