Striding purposefully toward Chronos, I pulled the picture out and studied it. So, this was the Butcher. Rumor had it that he was an ancient and dangerous vampire. Weirdly, he looked frail and old, like a human man. Had he done some kind of experiment on himself and it went wrong? Moroi DNA reset all humans to their peak physical and mental state during the transformation; This made our age appear anywhere from twenty to thirty. There were outliers, but it was rare.
Entering HQ, I used the embedded RFID chip in my hand to unlock several secure doors that led to the Manhattan lab’s dressing room. I always kept an overnight bag inside my wooden locker and pulled it out.
