“You helped all these guys? Bandaged their wounds, gave them food and water?” one of the cops asked, amazed at the compassion of those who had so narrowly survived obliteration.
“It’s a crazy time,” explained Cody. “No one has any idea what’s going on, but until we do, I guess we figured it was right to help others.”
“Even these guys?” asked the stunned cop.
“Especially them. Hate can’t survive experiences like this,” said Cody. “Sure, it’ll slink off into the woods again, but we gotta be wary.” He patted his son’s head and brought Emma into a hug. “And we’ll be watching, in case it ever comes back.”
