  Chapter1

Sara snapped her teeth at the guard staring at their table. In response, the large male bared rows of needle-like teeth at her in a mocking smile as he leaned against the nearest wall, making his point quite clear that he wasn’t going to move unless he was good and ready to move. She didn’t consider herself particularly strong or courageous, but she teetered on the edge of doing something fundamentally stupid if one more guard man-handled her. Alien-handled?

Whatever, she thought darkly as she narrowed her eyes at their regular tormentor.

She was tired of being shuffled through labs on a daily basis.

Tired of being herded into the common room for feeding time.

Tired of lecherous males trying to feel her up, or catch a peek at naked female flesh whenever clothes were changed, or the women were herded into the showers.

Tired of being scared, not knowing when her number would next be up for the breeding hunt.

“Sara,” Macy whispered, voice strained with anxiety. “Don’t give him a reason to come over here. Please.”

The tiny pixie-like blond young woman pressed herself into the side of a tall red-head, willing herself to disappear. Even the taller woman was slouched down in her chair as much as she could. No one wanted to catch the attention of any of the Agraak guards. Topping six feet in height with thick, textured bog-green skin and lank dark hair, they had little to recommend them.

They were a far cry from the strange Budo who made First Contact with Earth. Selling themselves as intergalactic traders and explorers, they made it sound good to be a volunteer joining a ‘inter-species study’ as they put it. The Budo were disgusting but not really threatening in appearance. A flat-faced, tusked species that resembled some kind of high fantasy orc--if orcs were under five feet tall, stunk to high heaven, had a tail like an ox and shiftless beady eyes--they pretty much came across less warrior and more slime-ball salesman trying to sell you a time-share. Sara had not been impressed, but the gimmick itself was a good one, and appealed to her amateur inner-Anthropologist. A chance to meet and learn the cultures of new species. It took her less than ten minutes to want to volunteer.

The Agraak were another story. One sedative, a nap in cyro-sleep, and a identity brand later, they woke up in a facility run by a vicious race that were something out of a Stephen King novel.

Sara snorted to herself. If it were penned by a Sci-Fi Romance author it would have been seven foot sex-gods with blue, or purple skin, and fuck-me horns. Not evil toad-men with humanoid faces filled with needle like teeth, and wicked looking spines that ran down their upper arms and across their shoulders. Probably in other places she didn’t want to think of too, hidden beneath their flexible dark uniforms.

If not Stephen King, then maybe HP Lovecraft? she mused.

Stiff, long spines jutted out from the Agraaks’ oily hair, along their shoulders, joints, and even a slightly longer spine from their chin. During segregation of men and women upon arrival at the laboratory, the human ‘volunteers’ had quickly discovered that the spines were capable of secreting a deadly neuro-toxic enzyme. All it took was one of the men trying to make a break for it.

The guards found it highly amusing, their grating laughter far from unforgotten, as he quickly began to convulse to death on the floor after being stung by one such spine. Not only were they physically horrifying, but from that moment on they proved to be nothing less than brutal and cruel.

Considering how many sci-fi romances Sara had consumed over the last couple of years prior to her ultimate stupidity of agreeing to the study, her first species of alien contact were a big let down for her. Branding, scientific experimentation and slavery aside.

Not one drool worthy alien in sight in the gods forsaken place. How disappointing.

Horns are sexy; toxic spines and insta-death are so not.

Sara’s eyes turned to the door as a small group of guards approached a table at the back where subject group HS08 sat, all ten females noticeably pregnant. At their approach the entire group of women docilely stood and followed the guards out of the room, eyes averted to the floor.

There was no way in hell Sara was going to let that become her future. Her skin crawled, and stomach roiled nauseously. She almost missed another guard leaning over to whisper to guard Lech, as she pegged him. He was suddenly grinning maliciously at her as he nodded his head.

Sara carefully blanked her face to give nothing away as he pushed toward their table. Sweat gathered on her skin as he stood over her, the heavy damp heat of his breath fanning against her neck as he stooped down.

“You are in luck, little female. Your subject study group gets health and wellness time outdoors tomorrow. Dress warm,” he chuckled in her ear.

He straightened and barked out, “Health and Wellness tomorrow morning,” collectively to the table of groaning women, before returning to his post with a final smirk at them.

Sara pinched her lips together to suppress a smirk of her own.The Agraak discovered quickly that humans needed to be outdoors for periods of time to remain at best health, so the study groups were rotated into outside privilege time. The guards, more or less, literally threw everyone outside to run about a yard space for twenty minutes. The Agraak clearly assumed that just because they couldn’t survive outside of their hellishly hot, humid environmentally controlled lab, that no other species would fair well in the miles of tundra outdoors. Sometimes it paid to be born and raised in Butt-fuck Alaska.

The other women were not as pleased as Sara. Macy began to immediately whimper about wanting to go back to Northern California, where it rarely dropped below fifty degrees outside. Trish, the red-head acting as Macy’s human shelter, muttered in agreement. Trish was from Austin, Texas, and screamed bloody murder the first time she was put outdoors on the alien tundra. In fact, none of the women in their ten lady squad was remotely happy about it. Sara knew without a doubt that it left her, on her own, to make it out and try to find natives to help.

An alarm blared, making several of the women jump from tightly strung nerves, and in familiar routine all the women fell into line to head back to their respective dormitory cell-blocks for the night. Like clock work, Lech grabbed at her ass when she walked by, but this time he hissed low just for her ears.

“Pretty soon it will be time for me to have you all to myself. My application was approved yesterday for Hunt next month, and I aim to have you,” his long tongue snaked out to lick her ear. “Dream of me little female.” His high laughter followed Sara out the door. Never was she more happy to get her ass back into her little solo twelve by twelve foot securely locked cell.

Everyone seemed to be on the same page as they hustled rapidly through the long corridor. Twisting through two more corridors, HS10 arrived at their cell block, each woman walking to her cell and standing in front of it waiting for the cells to auto-open. Sara was personally grate
ful to be back in the dim cell. She didn’t have more than a thick pad on a metal cot to lay on, but it was a safe zone away from the guards, and the horrors of the labs. Her mind flickering over how she might be able to escape.

Welcome to the Agraak Ti’ni’dal Lab, where every human-Guinea pig gets an identifier brand, a lovely bare cell, and a neuro-translator for your obedience convenience.

Overall, Sara admitted to herself that the lab was pretty impressive. She had to give them that. A single story unit of some type of shatter resistant--so they discovered when trying to put a chair through it on their first day in the common room--weatherized glass and light gray metal, it was a veritable labyrinth of long corridors that connected the cell-blocks, labs, and heavily guarded common rooms where the Agraak fed and exercised them. It was impossible to escape directly from within the confines. Even escaping from the exercise yard was highly risky.

In their favor, it was obvious that the Agraak were not native to planet, given the way they kept the facility turned up like a sauna. The hot humidity causing copious amounts of sweat to trail down between her breasts. Boob sweat was the worst thing about the heat.

However, their total avoidance of the great outdoors could work in our favor if we manage to find a way out of the lab. Sara hummed to herself speculatively.

They would fare as bad as a native of Louisiana being dropped into Fairbanks in January. Why they decided to station their lab on a planet that could kill them was beyond her. Then again, it could ultimately kill their captives too, which probably had a lot to do with the decision.

At least the translator should help, hopefully. That was assuming there was a native sentient species on the planet that was able to communicate with her.

It was a shame she couldn’t ferret out one of the maintenance droids though, to take with her as a souvenir of hell. As someone who hated to clean with a passion, Sara was pretty impressed with them. If only her room was a luxury suite, rather than a cell with three bare metal walls, and a fourth wall of the same glass used throughout the lab; complete with a view of identical rooms holding fellow human occupants. Zero privacy.

Sara had thought, at one time, of trying to find one of the men who had volunteered, to see if she could talk someone into helping them escape. Men usually knew more boy scout type shit...how to build a fire with penny and two shoe laces kind of thing. But she had no idea where the men who volunteered were being kept; although, there were nasty rumors among the guards that the male subjects were a total loss, whatever that meant exactly. Something about the aggressive genetic and endurance testing and high loss rate of the “male subjects.” It did not give Sara much hope of help from them.

“Did everyone hear about Katie?” Ellie, a normally perky brunette broke the silence as she worriedly chewed her the cuticle on her thumb. An old nervous habit from her childhood that seemed to get worse the longer she was in the laboratory.

“What happened with Katie?” a voice called out quietly, Sara wasn’t sure who had spoken.

“They found out,” another whispered. “She didn’t make transport with the HS02 back to their home world. I saw her separated from them when they left the commons a few months ago.”

  Macy began to quietly cry.

“I just saw her yesterday, why is she back?” another asked.

Trish snorted scornfully, “No one comes back here. Katie never left. She has been in holding in recovery and observation the last few months, separated from the rest of us. I saw her through one of the doors the off and on whenever we passed by to the commons.”

Ellie, barely visible from her place further down the cell-block, nodded grimly. “One of the Budo raped her before putting her in stasis, and she never got her menses after they delivered us here. She was hoping it was just shock fucking with her body. The stupid doctors never even checked her for pregnancy, and she was too scared to ask. To make matters worse, she is pretty and was fast tracked in that group for the Hunt. I guess they noticed that the bun in her oven didn’t look quite right. They culled her from her group and aborted her pregnancy. She has been in recovery since. I overheard that they are putting her in with us next week.”

“She has to go through hunt again?” Macy cried out in shock, and then began to sob in earnest when Ellie nodded her head.

Of course the Agraak would re-breed the woman. With a sound of disgust, Sara returned to her cot and began to wiggle a small, sharp piece of metal that she had managed to break free at one side through weeks of persistent manipulation. She bared her teeth at it in a facsimile of a smile, triumph coursing through her.

  I almost have it!

In single-minded focus, Sara worked at it for hours as she listened to the conversations crest and die out around her. Her fingers jerked away when she heard the door of the cell block slide open.

  Fuck me.

The fine hairs on her arms raised, and she scooted back against the wall of her cell as two guards entered. They walked companionably through, stopping every few feet to jiggle a cell door, checking its latch.

Vicki, a young woman with a mass of curling dark blond hair a couple cells down squealed in alarm when one of the guards tapped on the glass of her cell with one claw as he grinned at her. Unfortunately, thanks to the translator, no one was spared from knowing exactly what they are chortling about in their raspy thin voices.

“Doctor Xixon says she will prepped next week. I was supposed get to hunt this one down,” creep on the left remarked.

His slightly shorter pal made an approving noise in the back of his throat. “Nice. She will be a nice fuck. I can tell the terror on her will be amazing. I can almost taste it on the air.” He scratched at his crotch. Ew. “Subject 82 from last cycle has been a confirmed birth, just as previous subjects. This species is ideal.”

Confirmed birth. Impregnation. Ideal Species? Fuck me.

Leftie nodded at his companion’s observation.

“Test subject 12 will be re-released next week for hunt. Midid dodged an unlucky star there. What male would want to be saddled with a Budo brat to raise instead of their own progeny from Hunt. Unfortunately, due to communications from Agraadax, he won’t have the good fortune of being able to Hunt again.”

“I hear Xadax is going to petition to keep the offspring from his coupling with 82, and to keep the female as his breeder.”

Rightie snorted with some disdain. “Of course. He is a supervisor from an influential family, they will probably grant it. None of us will be permitted to keep a breeder, although we may get to keep our offspring. We just get to guard and hope to get the opportunity for Hunt, and fuck for their testing. And now we don’t even get that.”

His companion nodded in commiseration. “I heard about that. With the reported successes, some of the elite families have been granted petition to send selected sons for Hunt. They are due to arrive for the next cycle. You are not the only one getting screwed. There are several males who were already promised hunts from this final lot of females who are loosing the opportunity because of our so-called betters.”

Leftie grunted and paused for a moment, his head tilted to the side. Listening. “Come on, we need to finish lock-down of this block and corridor. Nasdax is impatient for Hunt, and they are preparing to release his female now.”

“Lucky fucker,” the other guard growled.

The guards made quick work tapping at the cells, testing the locks, before they moved on and reported the block as secure.

Sara felt a twist of sympathy for whatever woman was going to be sent fleeing through the corridors. She was fairly certain this shit wasn’t something she signed on for either. Within minutes the alarm blared signaling lock down. A shudder rippled through her body as somebody down the corridor screamed.

  Gods I hate this place.

She absently picked at the scabbing area around her brand as she pray that she wouldn’t scream again. That it would be over quickly. But she knew better. The Agraak liked to draw out the game to increase the d
istress of the woman being hunted. It increased their pleasure in the hunt.

Sara’s head jerked up as the slap of bare feet rushed pass her cell. She caught just a glimpse of bright orangey-red hair, and pale flesh as she sprinted by. Sara remembered her vaguely as a member of HS39.

I think she said she was a gymnast the one time I talked to her. That was a week or two ago...I think. An Olympic athlete who had signed on looking for a new challenge she said.

She heard the heavy pounding footsteps of the male breeder partner before she saw him. The male was huge. His flesh a shade darker than most of the guards, his spines had turned ruby red with his excitement, a wide menacing grin on his face. Sara grimaced. Even filled with sympathy for the gymnast, her stomach heaved at the idea of being ruthlessly impregnated when her number came up. It was a matter of time. Her turn would come up eventually.

Sara couldn’t help the disgust and fear curdling in her stomach as she heard the feminine wail and the masculine grunt of elation as the Agraak slammed his prey into the glass pane of a nearby cell. Desperately Sara tried to shut out the noise of the metal walls vibrating with his thrusts against the door, and the woman’s weak cries of helplessness and terror. The shrieking roar of the male’s climax made Sara’s stomach heave again and cold sweat pop out over her skin.

Two months of club lab Ti’ni’dal had pretty much worn the fight out of all of everyone. In the early days the screams and struggles were horrific as the women battled against their captors. As it became more evident that the harder the women struggled the more their captors enjoyed it, and the worse damage suffered from fanged mating holds and grappling claws, the more subdued the rest became. Most still gave a token of effort, spurred by fear, but it was clear that there was no escape from the breeding hunt once engaged, whether or not self preservation kicked in.

Hunt was officially concluded as the door at the end of the corridor opened, and one of the doctors entered with three guards. The woman on the floor shuddered and whimpered when they stood over her. From Sara’s view from her cell she could see the blood seeping from claws marks scoring her body and the jagged bites from the mating hold.
