Golden Glories Page 25

“Sounds like a lot of coincidences to me,” Forrest said. “Too many.”

“And I don’t believe in coincidences when it comes to the supernatural,” Miss Lucy said, as she walked in followed by Granny and Sister Mack.

Sister Joe was still out and glowing again.

“That’s definitely blue light energy,” Miss Lucy said, then looked at Sister Mack. “Have you boys been involved in a religious cult?”

“No, Ma’am,” Sister Mack said. “I swear. We were studying about local cults in our class—specifically the nuns who used that blue light stuff.”

“Could their teacher be in the cult?” Forrest said.

“Probably not,” Miss Lucy said to Sister Mack. “If there was another major blue light group or cult in the area, our people would know.”

“Then what is going on here, Lucy?” Granny said. “It’s not usual to see this much blue light activity.”

“No, it’s not,” Miss Lucy said. “Especially when the main family was taken down by Layton on his first case. The blue light energy should be at a minimum, unless there’s a new family in power.”

“Or maybe there always was,” I said. “There was a blue light family here years ago—we know that.”

“But from what I’ve been told, there hasn’t been any recent activity that didn’t involve ghosts,” Miss Lucy said. “Damn!”

“I recognize that ‘damn’,” Granny said. “You’re being kept in the dark about something, aren’t you?”

“Yes and no,” Miss Lucy said. “Something is definitely going on, and things are out of whack. There’s a reason Monique came to you, Layton.”

“This is her dad’s work—some sort of power play,” I said.

“He’s trying his hand at using the blue light energy,” Granny said. “That’s not good, Lucy. It would also mean that Sister Joe was purposely picked out to be used. Maybe mentally he was ripe for it.”

“He just had a bad breakup,” Sister Mack said, since Miss Lucy and Granny weren’t there when he mentioned it before. “The guy played with his mind and left him a mess.”

“Diony involvement?” Granny said to Miss Lucy.

“No, I don’t pick any of that up unless it’s very, very mild,” Miss Lucy said.

Sister Joe stopped glowing, and Miss Lucy and Granny walked up to him and checked his temperature. The minute they touched Sister Joe he raised his ass in the air and began to moan and squirm.

“Can you help him?” Sister Mack said.

“At this point blue light cultists would be harvesting Sister Joe’s energy,” Granny said.

“That’s what I was afraid of,” Miss Lucy said.

“If you harvest it will he be alright then,” Sister Mack said.

“He’d be dead,” Miss Lucy said.

“What?” Sister Mack said, as Sister Joe began to glow again. “Can’t Layton just harvest enough of Joe’s energy to make him better.”

I looked at Miss Lucy. “Is that possible?”

“I’m not sure,” Miss Lucy said.

“No,” Granny said. “Look at him, Lucy. He’s right at the point of harvesting. All of his energy has been turned to sexual energy. A cultist would leave him nothing but dust at this point. There’s no differentiation between the sex energy and his normal life force.”

“I know what you mean,” Layton said. “I’ve seen people like this before but… but that must mean there’s a cult member in the area.”

“You may be right about that,” Miss Lucy said. “Unless Monique’s people can do this from a distance, using their powers.”

“Has Sandoval’s group gotten that strong,” Granny said.

“I suspect they may have,” Miss Lucy said.

“That could be a huge problem, and explain a lot of what’s been going on,” Granny said.

  “Who’s this Sandoval?” Forrest said.

“He’s Monique Thomson’s father,” Miss Lucy said. “He has several children, but never married their mothers or gave any of the children his last name. Sister Joe’s sexual energy needs to find release or he’ll burn up.”

“I agree in part,” Granny said. “But I’ve also seen people go into comas from this sort of thing. Ones they don’t come out of easily.”

“Maybe that’s why Sister Joe came here to you guys, Layton, Forrest, Alex,” Sister Mack said, “he was instinctively looking for help. If you guys would’ve fucked him, he might be fine right now.”

“What if someone led him to us?” I said.

“It could’ve been Monique trying to help,” Alex said. “That would definitely prove her dad is behind what’s happening with the blue light.”

“But Sandoval wouldn’t have been involved with the ghosts,” Miss Lucy said.

“Not the ghosts, but he could be taking advantage of the supernatural energy taking place to test his powers,” Granny said.

“Monique used the opportunity to contact me,” Layton said. “But her people found out and got involved somehow.”

“That all sounds complicated to say the least,” Sister Mack said. “But we can’t let Joe go into a coma. Please… we’ve got to help him any way we can.”

“I guess we can fuck the energy out of him,” I said half joking, half serious.

“It could work but, it would take a lot which I’m guessing is why he approached the three of you,” Granny said. “You’re all strong and full of energy. And it would take a lot of energy to help him.”

“You can’t be serious,” Forrest said. “This sounds like a joke.”

“It’s no joke,” Miss Lucy said. “I think Granny’s right about the solution.”

“Then fuck him, and do it quick before he goes into a coma or burns up,” Sister Mack said.

“That’s not happening on my watch,” Forrest said. “In his state of mind, Sister Joe can’t give consent.”

“That is so damn stupid!” Sister Mack said. “I can bring in several people who would say that he wanted you three badly.”

“But he was probably under the influence of this supernatural thing even then,” Forrest said.

“I’m gonna say something, and you need to hear me, Mr. Forrest,” Sister Mack said. “None of us guys would say no to any of you when it comes to sex. OK, there I said it—and I shouldn’t have to. Damn it!”

“You all don’t seem to realize something,” Granny said. “Sister Joe is as far gone as I’ve seen a person in this state. It may take every person in this compound fucking Joe to drain that energy out of him safely.”

We all looked at Miss Lucy.

  “Granny’s right,” Miss Lucy said.

“Help,” Sister Joe said, when the glowing stopped again. “I’m so hot and… and… oh God, please, someone, I need it so badly. Please! It hurts so much and I’m not joking. Somebody fuck me!”

“That sounded like permission to me, Forrest,” Alex said.

Miss Lucy checked Sister Joe’s temperature again, then spoke. “He’s only got a few hours left at best unless we start doing something. And then he won’t be going into a coma—he’ll burn up.”

“What do you mean he’ll burn up?” Sister Mack said.

“She means he’ll turn into dust burning up from within,” I said, then looked at Forrest. “I’ve seen this before, and it’s not pretty. There’s a lot of pain involved, too. Forrest, do your job as an officer, and make sure what has to be done is accomplished safely.”

“What exactly has to be done?” Forrest said. “I mean how much has to be done.”

“Like I said, it’ll take every person around,” Granny said. “That means calling Bambi and telling her to bring her strap-on.”

“You’ve got to be kidding,” Forrest said.

“Is it that bad?” Miss Lucy said to Granny.

“Yes,” Granny said. “The last person I saw go through this wasn’t nearly as bad as Sister Joe here, and it took a good two hours of fucking to drain the energy from him safely.”

  “Geez,” Alex sa
id.

“Someone get a whole lot of condoms,” Forrest said. “No one’s doing him bareback.”

“I’ll get the condoms,” Sister Mack said. “But he’ll be embarrassed if the other boy nuns or I fuck him.”

“We’ll save you guys for last—if we need you—then,” I said.

“Sister Mack, you’d better get lube too, and lots of it,” Alex said.

  “Will do,” Sister Mack said.

  “What now?” I said.

  Chapter 43

  Lining Up to Serve

“STRIP DOWN AND get to it,” Forrest said. “I’ve got a condom in my wallet you can have.”

“Wait for the lube,” Alex said.

“And wait for me to leave the room first,” Miss Lucy said. “I’ll be in the pavilion if you need me—and no I am not putting on a strap-on to help.” She left.

Granny hadn’t been kidding about how much help poor Sister Joe would need. It took all the energy Forrest, Alex, and I had. Two hours later most of the compound residents had stopped by to lend a hand. Forrest, Alex, and I took a break to spend time with Chip on the beach, while Granny, Bean, and Braeden agreed to stand watch in the yurt.

“DADDIES! DADDIES! Chip said, when he saw us.

We had changed into bathing suits, and walked toward the water where Chip, Antoinette, Bogie and some of Chip’s classmates were playing. Happily, we splashed around and played with abandon. Not that I forgot Sister Joe or his problem. Several times I tried to figure out how things fit together regarding Monique, Sandoval, and the blue light but it was no use. I didn’t have a clue what was going on, so I focused on playing and having fun. After a while we stopped, and went to the pavilion to get some food. Randall welcomed us and told us all to eat.

“The boy nuns are gonna make the wedding cake,” Randall said. “They’ll start it in a little while.” He wiped his forehead. “Good Lord, they even put me to work over there in the yurt.” After chuckling, he looked at the kids and took Bogie by the hand. “Come on honey, let’s get you kids fed.”

  “I’m hungry too,” Chip said.

“Go ahead and get some food, Son,” Forrest said, then sat in a wicker chair. “We’ll be right here.”

The kids were getting food, when Nikki walked our way from the direction of the yurt.

“Did you have to get involved too?” Forrest said.

“Oh no, honey,” Nikki said. “I just helped apply lotion of sorts to certain parts of Sister Joe’s body. I had no idea the blue light could do that to someone—I even gave Julio permission to help.”

“Normally the cult members would build up someone’s lust and sexual energy to harvest, leaving the host dust afterward,” I said. “I think the state Sister Joe’s in is slightly more unusual.”

“Hi, everyone,” Diesel said, then sat down on the chair across from the sofa Alex and I were on. “They called Gloria to come over and look over Sister Joe.”

  “And?” I said.

“Gloria said he looks remarkably well for all of the activity,” Diesel said. “She attributes that to the blue light energy. Even porn stars don’t sustain three hours of constant… use… without some sort of damage.”

“Is the blue light diminishing at all?” Alex said.

“Granny said it has, and so does Miss Lucy, who popped in to talk with Gloria,” Diesel said. “A couple more hours should do it according to them.”

“My God it’s been three hours already,” Nikki said. “And we’re running out of tops.”

“Bambi’s husbands came over to help, and Bambi even brought her strap-on in case she’s needed,” Diesel said. “They even have me on standby. “With all this supernatural stuff happening, I told Lily May and Charity to stay at the hotel.”

“Good,” Forrest said, then turned to Chip and the other kids, who looked our way from down where they stood by the food. “Eat at the table for now.”

  “OK,” Chip said.

We sat, talked, and ate. During that time, not only was Diesel called on for her service, but so were the unaffected boy nuns. Forrest, Alex, and I took turns showering and dressing, and two hours later we were called back to the yurt.

“He’s worn out and sleeping like a baby,” Gloria said. “Poor boy. Layton, I can see why we need people like you and your team to fight this supernatural shit. And for the record, I do think he would’ve died from whatever was burning through him.”

  “Thanks, for everything,” I said.

“How is Sister Joe physically?” Alex said.

“Doing amazingly well considering everything,” Gloria said. “His ass isn’t even red or swollen. Not to say he won’t be sore in the morning, and maybe slightly embarrassed. But he’ll be alive.”

“The blue light kept him intact,” Granny said.

“Keeping the vessel intact so the cult members could harvest the energy,” Miss Lucy said. “And this isn’t even the worst thing we’ve had to deal with in our work.”

“That doesn’t make me feel good,” Forrest said. “It’s a whole different world than we’re used to. I’m not even sure if our old morality applies.”

“Oh, it applies,” Miss Lucy said, then patted Forrest on the back. “Things just aren’t so black and white. You did right in this situation, Officer. It was about keeping the patient alive, and getting the attacking… enemy—so to speak—out of him.”

Gloria, Granny, and Miss Lucy stuck around, and Forrest stayed with them and a sleeping Sister Joe while Alex and I walked around the compound. We found the boy nuns minus Sister Joe sitting in the wicker seating area in the pavilion.

  “Hey guys,” I said.

“Hi,” Sister Vaughn said. “How’s Sister Joe?”

“Sleeping like a baby under several watchful eyes,” Alex said.

“Do you think he’ll be mad at us when he wakes up?” Sister Mack said.

“What everyone did saved his life,” I said. “I can assure you of that, having seen the alternative myself.”

“You really saw people burned up from inside and turned to dust,” Sister Vaughn said.

“Y’up,” I said. “And they suffered a lot too—nobody wanted that for Sister Joe. He’s a good guy.” I chuckled. “At least you guys were up for the task.”

“I see what you did there—funny,” Sister Randy said. “Somehow I don’t think Sister Joe will be wanting sex for a while.”

“Does what you’ve seen make you think twice about wanting to train with Miss Lucy to do what we do?” Alex said.

“The opposite,” Sister Mack said. “With all this kind of shit going on, the world needs us.”

“That’s for damn sure,” Sister Randy said.

“The kids are gonna make S’mores soon before Chip’s classmates leave,” Sister Mack said.

“Mmm, that sounds good,” I said. “You guys gonna join us?”

“Y’up, but then we’ll start working on Jorri’s wedding cake,” Sister Vaughn said.

“Sounds like a plan,” I said.

Before going to make S’mores, we went back to the yurt and got Forrest. Miss Lucy and Granny came with us, while Gloria and Bambi, who’d come back to check on Sister Joe, agreed to stay in the yurt.

We enjoyed making S’mores, then Chip’s classmates and their parents left. Each of them had been given a small gift bag of gold coins from Granny and the kids to remember their trip to the key. Forrest and I helped tidy up the pavilion, while Alex, Granny, and Miss Lucy kept Bogie, Chip, and Antoinette occupied. Charity came back later in the evening, and took Chip to spend the night with her in Jorri’s house. After checking on Sister Joe one more time, Granny left with Bogie and Antoinette and Miss Lucy went back to the yacht.

“I don’t think we need to worry about Sister Joe getting frisky with us tonight,” I said to Forrest and Alex as we got ready for bed.

“That was so wrong of you to say in so many ways,” Alex said, but couldn’t help but chuckle.

“You and Miss Lucy need to get to the bottom of what ha
ppened here with this blue light stuff, Layton,” Forrest said.

“Yeah, I know,” I said. “All of it is bugging the shit out of me. I feel like Sandoval made some sort of power play here, but I don’t understand it all.”

“Was it something personal against you?” Forrest said, as he took off his shirt. “His way of showing you he can reach you and yours.”

“He wouldn’t have anything personal against Layton,” Alex said. “If he had something against anyone it would be me. He didn’t like my family, and was after our power.”

“It didn’t feel personal to me,” I said, having stripped down to my boxers. “More strategic, like he acted on the opportunity to see how far he could use his power. There has been a lot of supernatural energy in the key. Maybe he was able to tap into it to strengthen his own powers.”

“That makes sense,” Forrest said. “A whole lotta sense—and it would explain why and how Monique was able to contact you supernaturally.”

“Time for bed,” Alex said. “We have to be up early for the nuptials, remember?”

“We remember,” I said. “Thank God this bed is huge. How do we want to arrange ourselves to sleep?”

“You and Forrest each get on one side of Sister Joe to keep him safe,” Alex said. “You’re both bigger than me bodywise, and will keep him warm and secure.”

“We can do that,” Forrest said.

The night seemed like it would be uneventful, which was good because who knew what tomorrow held in store?

  Chapter 44

  The Morning After

SOMEONE—I THINK it was Randall—was talking over a sound system telling everyone to “wake up!”.

“Ugh, did yesterday really happen?” Sister Joe, who was cuddled up against Forrest said.

“It certainly did,” Gloria, who was sitting in a chair in the corner said. “How are you doing Joe?”

Forrest looked at Joe, and smiled. “She means is your ass sore this morning?”

“Not so I can tell,” Sister Joe said, feeling his ass.

“Dude, how is your ass not totally busted up today?” Sister Mack said.
