“It was me,” I said loud and clear. The woman’s eyes to snap off Lucian and on to me. “I caused everything today.”
She scoffed, “So you’re the one who knocked my daughter down and made her cut her hand?”
Massie hadn’t cut her hand, she had a splitter. But the point of saying that seemed pointless. “Yes.”
“So you are saying that my ex-husband had nothing to do with her getting hurt and you, some trashy whore, were the cause?”
I bit my tongue. If anyone had called me that before today, or before I became Lucian’s property, I would have killed them. But I couldn’t react like that here.
Lucian opened his mouth with a nasty expression on his face. I knew he was about to say something he would regret to his ex-wife, who I was sure he still had feelings for.
“Yes,” I said clearly and took a step towards her. “Lucian had nothing to do with it. If you want someone punished, it should be me. Everyone knows Lucian looks after his daughter and any harm to her, is a harm to your own personal health. So,” my voice sounded calmer than I felt, “I apologise, it won’t happen again.”
“Darn straight it won’t,” she scoffed, and turned to look at Lucian. “I want her banned from the club, and I want you at dinner with my parents Saturday night after Massie’s performance.”
I knew now was my time to leave, so I turned and left. The woman wouldn’t get her wish of banning me from the club, not till I fulfilled my debt. But I knew Lucian would make sure I was out of eyesight when she was around.
I paused about to take the stairs up and looked out the side window, and I saw Massie in the car. But that wasn’t the alarming part.
I quickly turned, rushing past Lucian and his ex-wife, accidently knocking her shoulder. She immediately started to yell at me, but I was making a beeline for outside. I just made it out when Massie flicked the car keys on and started the car up.
I don’t know why, but I understood her reaction. I would have done the same.
She had tears streaming down her face. And just as she was about to lock the doors, I slid into the passenger seat.
“Massie, don’t do it,” I said firmly as she put the car into drive. She could see over the steering wheel, having been given the height from her parents. For a ten-year-old, she sure did attract drama.
Lucian and Massie’s mother were outside now, and so were most of the club. Might have something to do with the fact that Massie’s mother shouted that she was going to kill me for touching her.
The boys would have wanted to see a showdown.
But they had come out to a different type of show and that was a ten-year-old revving the engine, and the car pointed at a brick wall. She already had the car in drive, which meant we would be going at full speed into a brick wall, if she lifted her foot to the accelerator.
“She never listens to me!” Massie screamed, with tears streaming down her face. “She just always wants to yell at Dad! I hate her.” And that spilt-second of her saying those words, her foot slipped, resulting in the car slamming into the brick wall.
I had a second to react to what was happening, and I dove over Massie, blocking her from the airbag.
I was dazed and confused as they pulled us out of the car.
Dash tried to sit me up, and then dragged me out. But I was dazed, completely lost to what was really going on. Lucian scooped me out of the car. I could feel his heart beating wildly as my head nuzzled into his chest. I wasn’t nuzzling him by choice, I was doing it because my head was heavy and my eyes were slowly glassing over.

It was the middle of the night when I had come to, Lucian was nowhere in sight and I was in the middle of his bed with the electric blanket on.
I noticed the painkillers next to the side of the bed and a glass of water. There was no note, but I knew Lucian had left them because no one would dare come not Lucian’s room. Hell, I didn’t even feel comfortable being in here.
My head was aching when I took the pills and sipped the water. I heard the bedroom door open, and I looked up and saw Lucian walk in. His back was to me as he closed the door and to my surprise, he closed it softly. It was as if he didn’t want to wake me.
I frowned. Lucian didn’t take me as the caring type, as in I didn’t think him waking me would be something he would be worried about.
He turned around and our eyes locked. Need and desire were clear in his, and I wasn’t sure why till I looked down and noticed I was sitting here topless. My breasts clear to his eyes.
I remembered after my shower I hadn’t put my bra back on because it was soaked, and I had only put the top on because I couldn’t walk around naked. Then when Lucian gave me his hoodie, I was thankful to be out of those damp clothes.
He moved towards me and I knew where this was heading. He peeled his vest off and placed it on the chair, then his top. Finally, he pushed his jeans off.
“I’ll . . . um, just go sleep on the couch.” I realised now that I was in his bed and he wouldn’t want me in it.
He moved to my side of the bed and placed his hand under my chin, forcing me to look up.
My eyes locked with his, and he silently ordered me to remain still as his hand moved down my neck and across my beast. He then leant down, nipping my bottom lip, then forcing his way in.
I gasped as he climbed over me, holding his full weight above me. His other hand forced the blankets down, and then on his knees between my hips, he gripped my legs and moved them open, wrapping them around his waist.
My skin went pinker when he broke the kiss and I saw his eyes drink me in. Only a little bit of lace kept me from being completely naked.
My hands went to his chest, needing to feel his skin but he caught them before I made it.
Grabbing them, he placed them on the bedhead.
“Hold on to it, Haylee, ya gunna need it,” he said almost smugly.
Then he ripped the lace and I groaned. Great, now I have no underwear. But that thought was gone when his lips locked on me. A flick of his tongue sent passion through my body.
I gasped, and then his mouth was gone from my core and back on my lips. He thrusted into me, and I didn’t mean to, but my hands went off the bedhead and gripped his shoulders.
A moan escaped my lips again.
Then the rhythm picked up and I was lost in a world of pleasure as he fucked me, claimed me—because I was his.

I was tangled in the bedsheets. Unsure whether to move to the couch now that Lucian had gotten sex. I doubted he still wanted me in his bed like I belonged there.
He walked back into the bedroom, and I leant down and picked up the phone from the hoodie.
“I have something for you,” I said easily, and then when he was ready, I tossed the phone in his direction. “You left it in the pocket. Sorry I didn’t give it to you earlier.”
His expression darkened. “Did you call your brother?”
“No.”
He looked at me with disbelief.
“I wouldn’t lie to you,” I said smoothly. I got out of the bed, picking up his hoodie. “Can I keep wearing this? I have nothing else.”
He looked down at the phone and then back at me before he nodded firmly.
“You know we have fucked twice, you’ve saved my daughter twice, and I’ve lost count how many times you’ve given me head. But we haven’t had one conversation yet.” His voice had a slight wonder to it, and he looked up from the phone at me. “I gave you the chance to escape but you didn’t take it. You are loyalty, honest, and put my daughter’s safety before your own . . .. Why?”
I inhaled deeply. I couldn’t tell him the honest answer because no one would believe me. Hell, I didn’t even believe my reason.
“Guess my priorities are fucked up.” I frowned. “You left that phone in that pocket on purpose, didn’t you?” I just put two and two together. He wanted me to escape, why? Why would he want his property to run from him? Was he rewarding me for saving his daughter? Did
he want to free me from this life?
And as I looked at him, I got my answer. Yes. To all of them. He wanted me to escape, he wanted me to be free because I had saved his daughter from those men.
Or did he just not want me?

Chapter 6
Haylee
“Haylee?”
My eyes fluttered open, and I could feel his hand on my hip. I turned onto my back and went to slide down the bed, but he stopped me.
“As much as I’d love to, darling, we have somewhere we need to be.” His voice was deep and husky and for the strange reason, I felt a shudder of delight when he called me darling.
God, if only this version of me had met me a few months ago. The one that wouldn’t settle for anyone. The one that was head strong. The one growing an army of rouge men and women with my brother.
I don’t know why, but I was enjoying being submissive. Perhaps because for the first time in my life, the headshots weren’t dependant on me. The money rolling in the bank wasn’t depending on the crimes I would do. Also, I knew I wasn’t adding to or shaming my brother’s reputation. I think that was the biggest pressure that was off my shoulders.
I could be whoever I wanted to be in Lucian’s bed, as long as I answered to him.
He positioned me up. “Need to deal with the bastards who left the room unguarded.” He reached for the bedside table, taking one hand off me. He plucked a cigarette from the ashtray, one I knew wasn’t his first for the day.
I wasn’t sure if I should comment or not on the fact that his men fucked off when they were needed. I knew that if they had to answer to me, then the punishment they would get would be slow death. I wasn’t being dramatic, either. It was important that other members knew that when they were needed, they were expected to fight. If they all thought there was no punishment to leaving their post and they could escape their time of need and live to tell the tale, well then no one would stand up the day you needed them.
I had a sneaking feeling that Lucian thought the same, but I couldn’t be sure.
I saw a debate in his eyes, and it was the first time I saw him somewhat torn.
“Are you okay?” The question escaped my lips before I knew what I was saying. “Sorry . . .. I didn’t mean it.” I quickly backtracked.
“No.”
My eyes shot to him, not believing he had just confirmed what I thought.
“Need to kill them to send a real message. But one is the nephew of an old timer. Isn’t the first time he has abandoned his post.” Lucian ran a hand through his hair. “Not your problem.”
That was where he was wrong. There was always another option to not dealing with your problems head on. Hell, Harley used to do it all the time to me when he couldn’t deal with the punishment.
“He put Massie’s life, as well as her friends’ lives, in danger.”
“I know.”
“They’re too young to carry out the deed that needs to be done in order to make it settled.”
“I know!” he snapped at me.
“But my life was also put in danger—” I couldn’t finish the sentence. Was I really willing to carry out the punishment so Lucian didn’t have to?
“Don’t expect that of you.” He threw the blankets up, looking slightly shocked that I would offer. “And,” he looked back at me, “for the record, we aren’t anything. Ya my property. I don’t need you helping.”
Well that was mean.
“Ya mine in the bed, and anywhere else I decide. That is your only concern.” He picked up his T-shirt from the ground and I knew that was the end of the conversation.
I was his sex tool, nothing more, nothing less. He didn’t even really care that my life had been put in danger the other day. He only cared about Massie’s life. But I guess that was how it should be.
* * *
I took a sharp breath in as I walked down the hallway and into the clubhouse. All day I had stayed in Lucian’s room. I scanned the clubhouse, and it seemed like a party must be happening this weekend. I wasn’t sure what the day was, or the date anymore—I had lost track after the whole no sleep thing. The sun went up and the sun went down, that was all I knew.
I moved through the bar, heading for the front door. I needed some fresh air. The only fresh air I got was when I got Massie out of the car and even then, I hadn’t enjoyed it because I hadn’t realised it.
I stepped out into the fresh air, and I saw people standing around fire pits, drinking and laughing.
I looked down at my wrist—it was swollen from the car accident with Massie.
The iron metal gates made a scratching noise as they opened. My eyes followed the noise, and a dark sedan pulled in.
It was a rental and took me half a second to click the two together. Massie’s mother and no car, plus rental, equals Massie’s mother. I turned to head back inside, but my name being shouted made me freeze.
Massie came whizzing through the crowd, and I noticed she had left her car door open in such a rush to get here.
“Haylee, there are reruns of Sabrina this weekend! Will you watch them with me?” She came to a stop in front of me, buzzing with energy. I opened my mouth to answer, but then I caught sight of Massie’s mother, telling me to not utter a word.
“Yeah, she can, Massie, tomorrow when you come to visit.” Lucian slammed the car door and gave his ex-wife a cold stare. “Seeing as I didn’t lose custody.”
I frowned, not understanding.
“Bout time everyone met Haylee,” Lucian said, nearly shouting as he grabbed everyone’s attention.
I was frozen on the spot, not sure what the hell was going on. Everyone knew me, didn’t they? They had to know I was the club’s property. Well, to correct that . . . Lucian’s property.
“Everyone know who I’m talking about?” Lucian looked around the lot, speaking louder. Even the music had been turned down. “If anyone, and I mean anyone,” he looked directly at his wife with an expression on his face that told everyone he was deadly serious right now, “fucks with her, you are directly fucking with me. The last member that put her life in danger can’t be found tonight.”
My eyes widened. He was telling everyone that he had killed those members because of me?
“Angeline, you so much as threaten my woman again, I’ll let her loose on you.” He leant in closer to her, whispering something I hadn’t heard, and I was thankful because if I couldn’t hear it, neither could Massie. I noticed how sad Massie looked as she watched her parents faceoff.
“Hey, Massie,” I smiled at her, lowering to my knee, “why don’t you head back to the car, you’ve had a big night. Time to go home.”
“Don’t tell my daughter what to do!”
I was taken back by Angeline because she was suddenly at mine and Massie’s side.
“My daughter doesn’t listen to whores.” She snatched Massie hand and dragged her kicking and screaming to the car, which sent me into an up roar. No one and I mean no one, treated someone I cared about like that. Angeline slammed the back door and when she did, she turned around to yell at me some more.
But my fist connected with her jaw first, causing the chaos of the lot to go quiet.
“Touch Massie like that again, and it won’t be my fist you’ll be feeling, it will be a slice of a blade.” I took a challenging step towards her. “Get your shit together, you can’t fight in front of your daughter like that!” I lowered my voice. “She is young, she doesn’t understand that you are a lazy lay and Lucian lost interest in your saggy vagina.”
Gasps were heard from behind me, but I didn’t give a shit. You hurt someone I cared for, and I made sure you felt the pain, whether that be from a verbal spray or a physical one.
“I’m taking Lucian to court, and he will be losing custody,” she hissed, holding her cheek.
“Go ahead,” I encouraged her. “I control the main legal firms in the state. Not only do I have a puppet of attorneys, but I’ve got them on retainer. I’d love to see you try and f
ind an attorney that will touch your case when you mention who you are going up against.”
“Lucian’s nothing but an international criminal,” she spat, but I knew she was clearly scared.
“Perhaps.” My mouth went to her ear. “But that international criminal is fucking a woman with connections in high places.” I think I had made my point, so I backed down and turned, heading back into the clubhouse. All I had wanted was some fresh air and instead, I scored a run down with Lucian’s family.
Now that I knew Angeline’s name, I couldn’t help but think how it fitted her so perfectly. Perfect, prim, proper, all things she was or at least acted like.
I needed a drink or some drugs . . . one of the two. I scanned the clubhouse bar for someone smoking or doing something. But I couldn’t just walk up to them and ask for a hit.
It wasn’t like I knew any of the bikers, either. Harley and I had always stayed clear of the bikers that followed the old code—till that one bad deal.
I saw man doing a line of coke, and I walked towards him. Just when I was about to open my mouth, a hand which I wasn’t used to wrapped around my bicep and pulled me away.
“Did you mean what you said about having connections in high places?” Dash’s words were low.
I wanted to snatch my arm from his grasp but didn’t want to be considered rude.
“Yes.”
“Need ya to pull a few favours.” He glanced over my shoulder. “But don’t mention this to Lucian. I’ll talk to you more about it when he fucks off again.” Then Dash disappeared in the club.
And then a hand that I was used to having on my body landed on my hip.
“You really scared the shit out of Angeline,” he murmured, tucking my hair behind my ear. “Bout time you and I had that chat.”
“What chat?”
“The one where we get to know each other.” He brushed past me, taking my hand.
