Family Tree

I'm just a leaf on my family tree,

There's no branch off of me,

  There just might be eventually,

But for now I'm just a leaf on my family tree.

We all come from someone who came from someone and so on,

A genetic creation from using no form of contraception,

We all start out as a seed in a womb but that's a leaf on a family tree,

You become a branch when you have your own family.

Words are my contribution that are writing in the bark,

Others have photos, something on their tree leaving their mark,

Think about yours or even what it could be,

A piece of art, a piece of you, contributing to your family tree.

I'm just a leaf on my family tree,

There's no branch off of me,

  There just might be eventually,

But for now I'm just a leaf on my family tree.
