Not a Dragon: Soulmarked: Kiara Ravenlocke Files 1 Page 17

by Alexia Black

I slowly stretched out my hand towards Aiden and gently rested my fingertips on his wrist. His pulse was faint but it was there. We had managed to halt their psychopathic plan to unleash the demons for now but as long the mastermind was alive, it was only a matter of when not if before everything went to hell.

Dad wanted me to go on with my life as if everything was normal, as if the price Aiden paid for the world’s safety, for my safety was nothing. I don’t know why he chose to put himself in a coma instead of leaving me half dead. Guilt, responsibility, morality, I didn’t care.

No matter how long it took, I was going to wait for him to wake up. And when he did, I was going to break this bond. I’ll never again be his prison, even if I had to threaten the fates themselves, I was going to destroy our soul bond.

  Once and forever.

  Acknowledgement

This book wouldn’t have been possible without my awesome team and my supportive family. Yes, that includes my little brother who annoyed me into writing the next chapter when I was procrastinating.

Thank you Aami for that beautiful song. You are an absolute wizard with words! Thank you Aparna and Aquila for reading the absolute shit the first drafts were. How you two managed to get through them without wanting to smash your phone will forever be a mystery. Thank you Sam and Christy for helping me with all the technical stuff and making my headache vanish with it. I owe you guys. Big thanks to Indu and Nayana for being my cheerleaders even when you understood none of the stuff I was rambling about. Thank you for always hyping me.

Biggest thanks goes to my youngest siblings. Without you guys asking me for stories every night to sleep, none of my books would’ve come alive. You two made me a storyteller.

Finally, thank you for purchasing my books and leaving reviews. Your support means more than you could imagine. You’ve made an impossible dream come true for me.

  Thank you!
