He was right. She knew he was right. If she didn’t accept the deal on whatever terms he set forth, he brought her secrets to the king. She would be removed from her position of champion, stripped of her hero status, and quite likely put to death. She would never be the hero after all. She would never see her people freed from Itsoh’s reign.
She had no choice.
Fury burned hot in her chest. She wanted to leap at Helis. She wanted to kill him.
But instead she took his hand in hers. She clasped it tight.
“Deal.”
