But he chose this. He wanted this. He could’ve taken his family to a different world, had a quiet and comfortable life, but it was too late for that.
He wondered idly where Lycanica was—and where all the other Meta gods were hiding.
“Come on,” Jessalene said, squeezing his hand. “There are a bunch of girls that want to talk about this whole Magi family thing.”
“I assume they all have very nice things to say,” he said.
She laughed. “Nope. You know how it goes.”
“Story of my life.”
He stayed there for a moment, surveying his girls: beautiful Izzy, with her dusky dirty-blond hair, her tanned skin, her big eyes. Lumi, with her strange face, petite, pretty Lumi. Allie, with her horns and long thick black hair. Kerrin, skinny little Kerrin, so fierce. His Jessalene, her milky-green skin and dark eyes, her easy smile and long legs. And Cassie, his Cassie, the girl that started it all.
This was his family, his core family. He’d marry them all, each and every one of them, and then—
Who knew?
Maybe having a whole host of half-Meta babies was the best way to world peace.
Lead by example and all that.
He’d run that by them sooner or later.
For now, though—they had so much work ahead of them.
And for some reason, he looked forward to it all.
“Come on,” he said, taking Jessalene’s hand. “Let’s go.”
And they went off into the crowd.
