Professor Richter's Rules Page 3

“I was worried sick about you, but Nathan wouldn’t let me go back in to look. Phew, am I glad to see you,” he said, wrapping his arms around Mindy. Together they rocked from side to side, mumbling to one another. “Nate and his friends asked me to go to a different club but we’re heading home first to get dried off. Come with us and we’ll drop you off first.”

My heart stopped instantly. Mindy couldn’t leave. Not after that kiss. My cock twitched just thinking about her pouty lips and sweet sighs. “I’ve got her, you guys go ahead,” I suggested, placing my hand on her upper arm.

Alex looked from me to her and back again. “Uno momento, Mr. Hot Stuff. Girlie and I need to discuss.” Off they went around the corner, Mindy tripping as he pulled her behind him.

“Oh. My. God,” Alex squealed once we were out of earshot from Jake. “Did you see how possessive Mr. Hottie got when I said you should come with us?” he said, bouncing around.

  “He’s just worried.”

“Yeah, worried about not getting into your panties tonight.” He snorted, his eyes landing on the object in question. “I’m glad you decided on the black set. While your slinky dress says, ‘I’m hot and innocent’, your choice of underwear clearly states you’ve got game.”

Confused, I followed his gaze. “Oh no,” I said, attempting to cover up the now extremely visible panties—and bra.

Alex, let out a loud laugh. “Don’t cover that up, girlfriend. You got it, flaunt it. And while you’re at it, thank the gods of false fire alarms for raining down on you. You. Look. Hot.”

Throwing my head back, I groaned, “I look like a prostitute.”

“Let’s fix those circles under your eyes,” he said, using his fingers to wipe and smudge as he spoke. “Now tell, daddy. Do you like that guy or what? You wanna go back to his place and show him your stuff? Or do you want to bail? We can totally take you home right now.”

My knee jerk reaction was to say I’d go with Alex. But this longing to be near Jake was undeniable. Thinking of just—leaving, especially after that kiss—seemed wrong. My brain knew I shouldn’t dive into this. The problem was that I’d already dipped my toe in and it felt good.

“I think I want to go to his place?” I answered in the form of a question.

“Oh, my God, we should call Holly and tell her you might be cashing in your V-card tonight,” he loud whispered, scrambling in his pants pocket for his phone. “Thank goodness for water resistant iPhones.”

Pulling the phone out of his hand, I said, “Dude, it’s like five o’clock in the morning in England. Holly will skin you alive if you call her now.”

“Dang, girl. You take all the fun out of everything. She’ll want to hear about this. Trust me.” I moved the phone away from his reach a few times, laughing at his failed attempts.

“Promise me you won’t call, and I’ll give it back,” I said, placing my hand on my hip. “And nobody said I was cashing in my V-card. Just because I may go back to some strange man’s home—who I don’t know—doesn’t mean anything.”

Alex laughed, bending over at the waist trying to catch his breath. “It means you want to do dirty things with that stranger,” he said, coming up for air. “Are you, um, prepared?”

Rolling my eyes, I shook my head, “I am prepared.”

“No, sweetie, I mean, are you prepared?” He pulled out his wallet, unzipping a small compartment.

Before he took anything out, I slammed it shut with my hands. “I’m good. I still have the one you gave me.”

He narrowed his eyes on me. “That must be like—three years old?”

My eyes looked down at the ground as I pondered. “Yeah, that sounds about right.”

“Check the expiration date before you use it. Take another one just in case,” he said, tearing my grip off the wallet.

As he handed me a small, golden package, I checked it over before putting it in my purse. “Thanks.”

“Anything for you, sistah. You know that.” Then he squeezed me in a big hug.

“Everything okay?” We heard a deep voice say. Jake stood just down the walk from us.

“Good luck. I have a feeling you’re going to have the best time.”

Shoving away from me, Alex walked over to Jake. “Show me your driver’s license, mister. I’m taking a picture of it.”

I’d thought having Mindy sitting beside instead of directly in front of me—where I could see her very sexy, black underwear and bra showing through her extremely wet dress—would come as some small relief.

No dice. Having Mindy’s long, tanned legs mere inches from mine made the dull throb in my cock even worse. Just imagining those bronze appendages wrapped around my hips as I drilled into her—damn, I needed to settle down.

Taking a deep breath, I began checking off theorems in my head to get my mind off the very naughty things I wanted to do with and to Mindy. Somewhere around the Mean Value Theorem for Integrals, I cleared my throat.

“Do you want to stop for something to eat?” I asked, immediately regretting my choice of words as I pictured Mindy on her back—legs spread—ready and willing—

“Umm, not really. I’d like to get out of these wet clothes as soon as possible.”

I inwardly groaned as I shut my eyes, gripping the steering wheel with both hands until my knuckles turned white. “Do you want to go back to your place? I know I invited you over, but we can change our plans if you want?” I glanced at her, hoping she’d say, yes. Having her come to my house was breaking yet another one of my rules.

“No,” she answered quickly, shooting her eyes directly to mine while she twisted her hands together in her lap. “My, uh, roommate is really annoying, and she keeps odd hours.”

Looking back at the road, I said, “No problem. We’ll get you warmed up in no time.” All on its own, my hand snaked down and over her knee for a quick squeeze. Her skin was cold—which was in stark contrast to the fire that shot directly to my groin.

“You’re freezing,” I said, removing my hand to turn up the heat even higher. After clicking the seat warmer for her I snapped her icy fingers up in mine. “I wish I had a coat to give you,” I muttered against the back of her hand as I laid a kiss against her soft skin. Once again, the scent of coconut traveled up my nose. I took a quick note that her mood ring was completely black. What did that mean? Stressed?

Her beautiful, delicious lips turned into a smile. “It’s okay, really.”

A few seconds later, I felt her shiver. An idea popped into my head as I drove to the shoulder of the road and stopped. “I think I might have something in the back. Give me a second,” I told her before opening the door to check.

The air was cooler than it should have been for this time of year. Maybe we were in for a rainstorm. Digging through my backpack, I found what I was looking for. I rushed back into the Jeep, handing her my sweatshirt.

“Oh thanks, this is perfect,” she said, holding it out in front of her to read the print.

“University of Santa Lena. Is this where you went?” she asked, undoing her belt then slipping the dry clothing over her head.

If I’d thought covering up her gorgeous body with the heavy material would curb my desire for her, I’d have also been wrong. Seeing her in my shirt made my cock swell even more. Shifting in my seat, I attempted to answer. “Uh, yep.” Even though I’d gone to college far away. How else exactly was I supposed to explain why I had that sweatshirt? “Did you go there, too?”

She bit the side of her lip for a second. “No, I didn’t go to college.”

An uncomfortable air filled the vehicle. “It’s not for everyone.” I reassured her, now feeling stupid for even asking.

“I think I’d like to go someday, though,” she said, giving me a small smile.

For the next few minutes we drove in silence, listening to the low hum of the radio. My eyes drifted over to her as she slowly lifted the collar of the s
weatshirt to her nose to take a quick sniff. Her guilty eyes met mine as I grinned down at her.

“What would you go to college for?” I asked, glancing back to the dark road ahead of us.

“Teaching, I think,” she said, immediately straightening in her chair. “I love kids and I’d like to teach elementary school.”

Her words tugged at my heart more than I expected. “You must have a lot of patience. I’d never be able to deal with a classroom of young kids.” That was the truth. The young adults I had to deal with were enough of a challenge, thank you very much.

“I’d like to make a difference in someone’s life, you know?” Her head turned fully to me now.

Once again, my heart squeezed in the most unfamiliar manner. Taking a deep breath, I did my best to stop the feelings that were trying to break through the brick wall I’d constructed around me. I’d learned my lesson long ago to never get attached to a woman.

“This is your house?” Mindy asked as we pulled into my driveway, waiting for the door of the garage to raise. Her jaw was practically on the floor as she took in the surroundings. I bit the inside of my cheek. This was one of the reasons I never took a chick back to my place. They’d take one look at my property and try even harder to dig their hooks in. That and the distinct possibility of a woman showing back up after I was done with her.

We trust fund babies had to be careful who we let into our lives.

“Yeah,” I said, feeling a bit of disappointment in the pit of my stomach. Mindy hadn’t seemed like she was the type to care about money. Maybe I’d misread her.

“It’s enormous,” she mumbled, still sitting there awestruck—practically gawking at my home. Her reaction made my guts twist.

Without another word, I drove into the garage, stepping on the brake a little heavy. I clicked the button for the door to close before I jumped out of the Jeep.

Mindy got out, straightening her dress a bit as she pulled the sweatshirt as far down as she could. Her eyes looked up at mine for a second, then she cast them back down.

Once she was in front of me, she said, “Look, I should probably just go.”

It felt like someone had punched me straight in the gut. “W-why?” I asked, placing my hands on her shoulders.

“Uh,” she said, glancing over at the other two rides I had in the garage. “You seem kind of—pissed. And it looks like you already have company?” Her head tipped toward my bike.

Taking a deep breath, I calmed my temper. Mindy was acting bashful and shy. Exhaling, I squeezed her arms.

Placing my index finger under her chin, I tipped it up and over to look at me. “I’m not pissed.”

She raised an eyebrow in the cutest way. “You are. Did I do something or say something wrong?” she asked, her eyes glossy, making me feel terrible for being short with her.

“Nope. You’re perfect,” I said truthfully, scanning her beautiful, worried face. When my vision landed on her supple lips, I couldn’t help myself. Leaning forward, I gently kissed her. “Stay,” I whispered—meaning it. Then I kissed her again—this time not as nicely.

The heat from his mouth and his body was too tempting. I willingly sunk into his warm, strong arms, sighing as he deepened our kiss. Everything in me tingled from the top of my head to tips of my toes. When our tongues touched, an explosion of need overtook me. My hands gripped the back of his head, pulling him closer.

My lower belly melted into a sensual, pulsing entity wanting—more. More kissing. More touching. More Jake. His lips moved from my mouth down my neck, creating shivers down my back. “I can call a cab if you want,” he said, kissing his way over to the other side of my neck.

Sighing, I tilted my head, giving him more room. “Hmm?” I said, unable to process words or thoughts at the moment.

“If you still want to leave, I can call a taxi,” he said against my lips, planting a tender kiss there.

Slowly coming out of my kiss-induced haze, I shook my head a bit to clear it. “What do you mean?”

A smile crossed his strong, chiseled jaw. “Will you stay?” he asked, grasping my hands. Jake kissed the back of my hand as his eyes lingered on my ring—my very purple ring.

I had already forgotten I’d offered to leave. “I’d like to stay but will your company mind?” I asked, peering over at the other vehicles in his garage.

“It’s just me here. Those are my toys.” He snickered, nodding at the convertible and motorcycle sharing space with his Jeep.

The realization that we were indeed here alone excited me yet scared me all at the same time. “You have mighty big toys, Jake.”

That made him crack up completely. Body shaking next to mine he said breathlessly, “That’s what she said.”

Rolling my eyes, I pushed away. Jake wasn’t allowing that. He composed himself, pulling me close, placing another kiss on my lips. “Seriously, though, I want you to stay. At least until you warm up.”

I’d be lying if I said my mind and heart weren’t at war against each other. I knew the last thing in the world I needed was a man to complicate my well thought out plans for the future. I doubted Jake went to that club tonight looking for a long-term, romantic commitment.

All my life I’d played it safe, carefully deciding on each step before taking it. Right now, something inside of me wanted to let loose. Just for tonight. Didn’t I deserve a break? One night of not caring about tomorrow or next week—or how I was going to pay for four years of college.

  Just one night.

“I’ll stay for a bit. If that’s okay?” I stared up into his still smiling face that visibly softened at my words.

  “Yeah, that’s okay.”

Hearing the water turn on in my bathroom caused another surge of lust to run straight to my dick. Was she in the shower or the tub? Either way—that gorgeous woman was now naked only yards away from me. All that separated us was one damn locked door.

Clenching my fists together at my sides, I forced my legs to leave the master suite rather than torture myself any further. Closing the bedroom door behind me, I leaned against it briefly. So far tonight I’d broken at least half of my rules and it wasn’t even ten o’clock yet.

I needed to get a hold of myself. If I wasn’t careful, Mindy would get the wrong idea about what I wanted. Normally by this part of the evening I would have had the talk with a prospective one nighter. Whatever was holding me back from being honest with her needed to stop. Now.

Pushing away from the door, I sauntered to the kitchen to find something for us to eat. Glancing over to the coffee table I spotted papers I’d been grading before leaving for the club. Sighing, I scooped them up, shoving the bundle inside my briefcase.

Finally making my way to the kitchen, I opened the fridge spying what I’d been craving—besides Mindy. Yanking out the ground beef, I wandered over and snapped up a frying pan.

I’d never tended a pan of beef quite so intently before. Keeping close tabs on the clock, I decided she most likely needed assistance with something and that was why she wasn’t out yet.

Never one to leave a damsel in distress, I took the beef off the burner and headed back to the bedroom to see if there was something I could help with—like washing her back. Once at the door, I knocked lightly. “Mindy?” Tapping again, I said, “You all right?”

No answer. Hmm. A knot formed in my stomach. What if something was wrong? Shoving open the bedroom door, I quickly looked around. Nothing.

Making a beeline for the bathroom door, I banged on it a bit harder than I’d thought.

“Ah,” Mindy yelled from the other side, obviously startled.

Relieved, trying unsuccessfully not to chuckle, I asked, “You good? Need anything?” Hoping she’d open the door, proclaiming her urgent desire for certain parts of me.

“Umm, a hairdryer? I’ve searched all four thousand drawers and cabinets and can’t find even one.”

I laughed at her use of hyperb
ole. Although that bathroom was huge, there weren’t quite that many drawers. “Open up. There is one but it’s on the top shelf. You won’t be able to reach.”

“Ha,” she laughed, “I’m still in a towel. I’ll find it.”

My eyes widened. “No, honestly, it’s too high. You’ll—” I was interrupted by a sudden screech followed by a dull thud. “Are you okay? What happened? Open the door,” I said, twisting the handle with everything I had.

  “I fell. I’m—alive.”

Another surge of adrenaline traveled through me, needing to get in there to make sure she wasn’t hurt. “Unlock this stupid door.” I hit the hard wood with my fist, still turning the handle to no avail.

“My ankle kind of—hurts,” she mumbled. Damn. I dashed to the kitchen to find the small screwdriver I kept there. Hopefully one of the attachments would be small enough to fit inside the lock.

Rummaging through the utility drawer, I finally found what I was looking for. When I got back to the bathroom door, after a little jostling and poking I had success.

“Eeep!” Mindy shouted as the door swung open. I saw her on the floor, naked, struggling to cover herself—with her hands. Just as I’d suspected, this woman was positively, unbelievably, hot. There was only so much of her breasts she could cover up with her arm and hand.

Her other hand went down to cover her—

“Would you get me a towel, please?” she squeaked out, shaking me out of the erotic show that was happening on my bathroom floor. All we needed were a few strobe lights and—

Shaking my head, I took a deep breath. “Towel, right,” I said, unable to get Mindy’s curves out of my mind as I turned around to tug a large, white bath sheet from the rack. “Speaking of towels,” I uttered, throwing the large, fluffy, cloud-like material to her. “Where is yours?”

Covering herself up, she huffed, “I took it off before I climbed up on the vanity.” A frown replaced her usual smile. Something made me want to bring it back.
