“There was this customer who was a friend of the owner of the bar I worked at. I was a waiter and helped out behind the bar. He had a lot of money, and he made moves on me constantly. I wasn’t interested; he gave off a strange vibe, and I didn’t want to get involved in weirdness besides he was married. But he wouldn’t let up and even went to the owner to try and gain some sort of leverage over me. It was creepy.” Keagan took a deep breath and paused for a moment. Sergio didn’t comment, for he knew that Keagan was gathering his thoughts.
“The owner started pressuring me to give the guy a chance, but I said no. Then he presented it in a way that appeared to put my job in jeopardy if I didn’t go out with this guy. I ignored him and pretended he hadn’t asked what he’d asked and hoped it would all just go away, and the creep would start bothering someone else.” He paused again, and this time his aura was tensing with the emotional toll this was taking. Sergio moved closer and tightened the arm he had around him.
“They set me up. The creep cornered me in a back room and tried to assault me. I punched him in the face. I’m not big or powerful, but I know how to punch, and I know how to block. I bloodied him up good, and it was over before it really got started, thank God. I quit my job and left there the same night.” Keagan leaned into Sergio as he tended to do when needing strength or solace.
“That happened eighteen months ago, but both the guy and my ex-boss started some rumors about me, nasty rumors to use as a defense I suppose if I ever brought this to the authorities. Following that experience, I was very careful and selective about jobs and people I let into my life.” He leaned back suddenly and ran his fingers through his hair before starting. “Except for that fucking job at the Ruby Light. The money made me ignore the uneasiness I felt.”
“Cruise would promise the moon to get the staff he desired and then deliver nothing. He was scum, and the world is improved by him not being in it. You weren’t the only one deceived, and as far as that bastard that assaulted you and that asshole boss, they should be dealt the same fate as Cruise.” Sergio wanted to let Keagan know that he didn’t have to keep beating himself up over his past. It’s over, and life goes on except for the fact that Sergio would love to get his hands on those two.
Keagan turned to regard Sergio much as he had before, but this time, he was looking for truth. “I’m not a slut. I just wanted you to know the truth.”
“I know, and I don’t care about the men in your past. You are my beloved, and our life starts now. I’ve not been a saint, and I’m definitely not a virgin, but I swear to you now that you are it for me. There will be no other.” Sergio didn’t wait to see if Keagan would make the same pledge but rather took his lips in a blistering hot kiss that left no question as to Sergio’s desire for commitment.
“How about we move this upstairs to that cozy master bedroom?” Keagan made the suggestion between heated pants, and Sergio moved on it instantly. He scooped Keagan up into his arms, and within seconds they were standing next to the large king bed in the master suite. He felt and heard the soft giggle from his beloved.
“You move fast.” He commented still smiling, but the mirth was tinted with lust, and that just made Sergio even more anxious to get this show on the road.
“You’ll never have to ask me twice for something as wonderous as your loving attention.” Sergio pulled off the thick comforter and tossed it to the floor before laying Keagan out gently on top of the bed. “You look sexy as fuck my beloved, absolutely sexy as fuck.” Sergio leaned over Keagan and kissed him while smoothing the hair back from his face. “I wish I had better words, but I’m a fighter, not a poet.” Sergio apologized for his unrefined manner.
“I’ll take sexy as fuck just say it while your eyes are burning like they are now, and I’ll melt every time.” Keagan reached up and touched the side of Sergio’s face, and Sergio turned to place a soft kiss to the palm of his hand. “I don’t need creative dialogue; all I need is the truth.”
“You are sexy as fuck, and that is the truth.” Sergio took hold of Keagan’s shirt and pulled it up and over his head, tossing it on top of the comforter. He then eased himself up onto the bed and leaning over Keagan, staring down at him longingly for several moments before sliding down on top of him.
Sergio trailed wet kisses along his collar bone and down to one nipple and then the other. Keagan cried out as Sergio gently bit down on the tender flesh. Keagan was a very vocal lover, and it spurred Sergio on to discover all the noises his sweet lover could make.
…
Keagan squirmed and held on as Sergio teased and tantalized. His mouth was doing wonderful things to Keagan’s body. Foreplay had not been something he’d enjoyed in the past, but with Sergio, it was heaven, and hell rolled into one. The act of being held and desired but also valued was a heady combination. It gave him back a sense of self that had been chipped away recently.
Sergio moved lower, kissing his way to the waistband of Keagan’s track pants. There Sergio easily slipped the lightweight pants off along with his shoes and socks. The cool air hit Keagan’s heated flesh, and a chill ran up his spine-tingling and tightening his sense along the way. He was on the edge already, and Sergio hadn’t even touched his cock yet. The man was truly masterful.
Keagan reached out and touched Sergio’s hair so soft as it fell between his fingers. Sergio slid back up Keagan’s body and licked the full length of Keagan’s hardened cock, sending a sensation of stark need straight to his core, and he nearly came right there with just that much. Keagan groaned and twisted, staving off the imminent release and tightened his grip in Keagan’s hair.
He felt and heard the soft chuckle as Sergio did it again and then began deep throating him as he worked a well-lubed finger into Keagan’s tight entrance. He hadn’t even noticed Sergio getting the lube or applying it, but the slick was allowing him to work and stretch the muscles with very little discomfort. What discomfort existed was muted by the magnificent pressure of the hot wet mouth working his cock. It had been so long and truthfully never like this.
Most of his encounters had been satisfying but not memorable. They were quick fucks or a one-night stand, nothing that involved the heart or the mind. He doubted he’d ever forget his first time with Sergio. It was thrilling and ignited every nerve ending making his scream out the name of the man who was without compare. “Sergio!”
He felt his still hard cock slip from Sergio’s mouth as he sat up and quickly disrobed. Sergio was back and stretching out on top of Keagan, not pressing his entire weight onto him but seating himself between Keagan’s thighs and using his elbows to carry a good portion of his weight. He blanketed him deliciously.
Sergio pressed his long hardness against Keagan and dropped his head to devour his lips in a kiss that was all possessive demands leaving Keagan panting and looking for more. “Are you ready for me, sweetheart?”
“Yes.” Keagan was going to nod, but he knew instinctively that Sergio wanted words. He wanted clarity. “I want you so badly, please don’t make me wait.” It couldn’t be it any clearer than that. Sergio continued to stare down at him with the warmest loving expression. It touched Keagan to see such care and affection reflected back at him. He could get addicted to this and to this man.
Sergio kept rocking his hips against Keagan while kissing and nuzzling the crook of his neck. The two sensations one erotic and one so loving had Keagan’s heart in a whirl. The gyrating continued until suddenly Keagan’s legs were lifted, and Sergio began to gently prod and penetrate the area he’d so rigorously worked.
…
Sergio was going out of his mind. His instincts were raging to take and claim and pound this gorgeous ass hard and fast. But he had to slow down and take into consideration his beloved was human, a human who had suffered and needed his patience and care.
He kept his eyes on Keagan as he pressed harder popping inside and just held it for a beat before pushing further an inch at a time stretching and easing his way inside. The way Keagan wrapped his l
egs around his waist and started thrusting, told Sergio he was ready.
With a hard thrust, he plunged inside, completely seating himself to the base and once again held himself still as he watched the expression flood Keagan’s face. There was mild shock followed closely by surprise and ending with deep satisfaction.
Sergio picked up his pace and maintained a rhythm that had his beloved trembling with need and mindlessly begging for more. He desperately wanted to claim his love, and his vampire nature was hammering him to complete the bond. He forced his instincts to the back of his mind and focused on pleasuring his beloved.
He kissed Keagan’s shoulder and neck and sucked provocatively on his earlobe as he continued to pound his sensitive engorged cock in and out of the sweetest tightest hole. They held fast to one another wrapped together in erotic bliss, losing themselves in the sensations rocketing through their systems. He wanted this man forever, in his life, by his side loving him till the end of time. His mind was reeling as the urge for completion exploded in his mind.
Sergio slammed inside as the pulsing heat of Keagan’s channel gripped him tight. He struck, sinking his teeth into Keagan’s neck, drinking from his beloved as he thrust hard and came with an intensity that startled. He filled the tight silky channel with surge after surge of warm seed marking his beloved with his scent and self.
Keagan stiffened and screamed out his name once more as he filled the space between them with his essence and gripped Sergio in a tight embrace. After a moment of heart-stopping awareness ripping through him, Sergio removed his fangs from Keagan’s neck and licked the wound closed, healing it to a nice noticeable scar. He hadn’t planned on claiming him now, but he did not regret it either. He continued rock inside his beloved, relishing the feel of their connection.
“Did you claim me, Sergio?” Keagan’s words were not accusatory; they were misty and sweet. “I feel you; your emotions are moving on the edge of my mind. You’re apprehensive but also very pleased.” Keagan chuckled, and Sergio knew he was not in trouble.
He kept his face tucked into Keagan’s shoulder and kept him wrapped in his arms. Keagan, too had not released him and held him close. It was a wonderful feeling with the sensation of the bond rushing through him and the aftershocks of the orgasm making weak. He never felt so good and so complete.
“Yes, I claimed you, Keagan.” He stated with his head still resting against Keagan’s shoulder. “I had no more than discovered your existence when I was told that I’d lost you. I was told you were dead, and then I found you, and I had to secure my claim, keep you close and keep you safe. I will not lose you again. I’m sorry for springing it on you like this, but I’m not sorry I claimed you.”
He felt Keagan’s emotions, and he wasn’t upset. He felt relief coming from his beloved, and he also felt a calm comfort. His beloved wanted to be claimed. Like he’d beseeched Sergio in the beginning with the words ‘don’t make me wait’ Sergio swore he would never make him wait.
Keagan ran his fingers through Sergio’s hair and turned to place a sweet kiss to Sergio’s forehead. “Thank you for choosing me, Sergio.”
“Thank you for accepting me, Keagan.”
“There’s more than just acceptance in my heart Sergio, much more.”
“Good because I am never letting you go.”
CHAPTER SEVEN
It was late or early, depending upon how you looked at it when Josef came to Nik with his findings. After so many years working, the Imperial Club Nik was used to the late-night but would much rather be in bed with his beloved. Walker had turned in around midnight, but Nik had something pressing on his mind, and he had to figure it out.
He laid his concerns out to Josef earlier in the evening and asked him to look into it and see if there were any connections or reasoning for his uneasiness. Josef met him in the rooftop garden.
“Come and sit.” He told him as he entered. “Show me what you’ve found.” Josef came over with his computer tablet in hand and took a seat next to him. Nik handed him a whiskey once he was seated and comfortable.
“Thanks.” He said before taking a long sip and then set it aside. “You were right about the guys; that was no random attack.” Josef began and opened the tablet to several CCTV feeds. He pointed to the one on the right. “That’s Greenfield, no first name just goes by Greenfield. He’s a hired killer who doesn’t kill for fun or satisfaction only for cash. I didn’t recognize the guy on the left, but Kristof knew him from his time working for Ramsey. He didn’t know him personally but said he did what was called cleanup for Ramsey.”
“A cleanup man and a hitman working together.” Nik voiced as he referred to the tablet screen and pointed to the man lying at their feet. “Carlson Bendel was not their mark, but they thought he was. He looks very much like Keagan Hahn, height, weight, and facial features. A bit rough perhaps, but they figured he’d been hiding on the streets for a few months.”
“Yes, it seems very likely they thought he was Keagan.” Josef showed him the video of the two checking the wallet and then tossing it on the body and walking away. “They bludgeoned him to death so that it would look like a mugging and not professional.”
“The danger for Keagan did not end with Cruise and Jason,” Nik stated.
“Ramsey?” Josef queried.
“Keagan witnessed a murder that resulted in an order for his death. With Cruise and Jason eliminated, the order should have ended, but it didn’t. Someone else made the order. For now, they think he’s dead, but when they discover they killed the wrong man, Keagan will be hunted once again.” Nik verbalized his thoughts as he worked out the situation with Joseph.
“Keagan told Sergio that Cruise called the man Jerod. He described him in his late twenties. They seemed friends until Jason ripped out his throat.” Josef added as he scrolled through the information Nathan had compiled.
“Cruise was doing a job for someone else.”
“Do you think it’s Ramsey?” Josef through that out once more.
“Yes, I think so.” He said slowly. “Find out if Ed Massey is still in that convalescent home or if he’s passed.” Josef focused on his tablet, and in a few seconds, he had the answer.
“He died four months ago. Listed as natural causes.”
“Was there a death notice for Jarod Massey?”
Josef paused and searched the records. “He died in an apparent automobile accident three months ago on the same day that Keagan saw Jason kill a man named Jarod.”
“Ramsey’s clearing the way for a takeover. Ed, although incapacitated, was in the way as was Jarod.” Nik drank his whiskey and looked out over the city. “Jarod had his supporters interested in letting him take the reins of his father’s interests. That would have cut Ramsey's influence in half.”
“They couldn’t outright eliminate him without drawing the ire of th0se supporters, so they hired it done by an outsider and arranged it to look like an accident,” Josef said, and Nik nodded and finished his whiskey.
“Keagan knows the truth, and if it gets out, Ramsey will be in for a world of shit,” Josef added.
“The support that he enjoys now would very likely turn on him.” Nik agreed. “What’s important right now is that Keagan is protected.”
“Sergio took him to one of Kash’s rentals, thinking it would help relax him since he does have some lingering issue with vampires and the Hadden Coven,” Josef told him.
“He needs to be brought back to the Center and placed under coven protection until we determine exactly what’s going on. I know Sergio is a competent guard, and this is no slight on his capabilities, but he needs to bring Keagan here.” Nik stated, and Josef reached for his phone to make the call just as it started to ring.
“He’ll do whatever necessary to ensure the safety of his beloved. But we have a little time considering they think Keagan’s dead.” Josef commented as he opened the call. “Yes, Killian, what is it?”
…
Keagan woke around three and needed the bathroom
bad. Sergio had him wrapped up tight in his arms, and Keagan was loathed to leave the warmth and comfort of the cocoon, but he had to go. He tried to slip out without waking Sergio, but that didn’t happen. As soon as he moved, Sergio snuggled him closer and tucked his nose against the side of Keagan’s head.
“Where are you going?” He said in that sexy sleepy tone. Keagan turned and kissed him softly on the lips. He stared at his amazing lover, wondering how he got so lucky and marveled at the man’s impressiveness. He was the combination of every dream man Keagan had ever imagined, handsome, strong, kind, considerate, and, in Sergio’s words, sexy as fuck.
“I need the bathroom. I won’t be long.” He kissed him again as Sergio slowly released him.
“Okay, but hurry.” Sergio leaned up onto one elbow and watched Keagan as he slid to the side of the bed and stood. Keagan could feel his eyes upon him and glanced back over his shoulder and smiled as he headed to the bathroom.
One second, he was stumbling blindly in the dark on his way to the bathroom, and the next second he was face down on the hardwood floor with Sergio laying on top of him. “Stay down.” He barked, and the urgency in his tone sent a chill up Keagan’s spine. Something was seriously wrong. He didn’t speak, just listened. He had learned to listen well during his time alone. It wasn’t long before he heard it. Crack
“Was that a bullet?” He asked, but he already knew the answer. Crack
“Yes, now stay on the floor and make your way over to the far side of the bed. Do not get up.” The last part of the sentence was delivered with a force that prickled Keagan’s skin. Sergio moved with him, shielding him as they slowly made their way across to the far side of the bed and to a wall closet. Crack…...Crack
Sergio opened the door and pushed Keagan inside. “Stay low to the floor.” He ordered, and Keagan nodded, and Sergio closed the door. Unable to just lay there and listen, Keagan cracked the door open just a sliver and watched as Sergio made his way to the window, which was now sporting several holes, and dropped the shades. Keagan felt his heart thumping in his chest. Sergio leaned against the wall by the window and reached for his phone that he’d left on the table. Keagan couldn’t hear what was being said, but he assumed Sergio was calling for help.
