“Ready for more Firefly?” He kissed along her shoulder.
She tilted her head, to give him easier access. “You say the sexist things. And you should probably start it from the beginning.”
He wrapped an arm around her waist, and traced his thumb lazily along her skin. And now she had another favorite sensation. She was allowed to have several, right?
Instead of reaching for the remote for the TV in his bedroom, like she expected, he shifted so he could look her in the eye. His warm gaze made her heart stall.
“I shouldn’t have said this when I did.” He cupped her cheek. “I was desperate and didn’t want to lose you, but it wasn’t the right time to put it out there.”
Ivy licked her lips nervously. She had an idea of what he was talking about, but she wanted to hear it spelled out. “Said what?”
“I love you, Ivy. For so long now. I’d do anything for you, and sometimes that hasn’t been the right thing, but I’m trying. I need you in my life. I was lost without you. You’re my world and my everything.”
Her heart lodged in her throat at the confession. He was right, it hurt to hear it last time. Now, it was perfect. “I love you too.” She dipped her head to kiss him. “I know you’re always there. I hope I do the same for you. I don’t ever want to fight like that again.”
He brushed his lips over her forehead. “Me neither. I also don’t want you to go back to your place. Ever.”
“That sounds a little creepy. You know that, right?” She wasn’t worried.
He grinned. “You know that’s not what I mean. I want you to live here. This last week has been torture. You can have my garage or my basement or the living room for your painting—I don’t care as long as it makes you happy.”
Was he asking her to move in?
“I think the basement will be great.” Did she want to do this? She spent half her time here anyway, and now that she had Miles, she didn’t want to let him go either. They still had things to work through.
But she knew him. She trusted him. She loved him.
“Is that a yes?” he asked.
“Yes. Absolutely yes.” They had so much time ahead of them. Years. Decades. As she twisted and cuddled back into his arms, she knew regardless of whatever ups and downs they experienced, it would all be incredible.
Because it would be Ivy and Miles, and together, they’d be unstoppable.

It started as a joke...
I couldn’t wait until Valentine’s Day was over – not because I hadn’t ever had a boyfriend to spend the day with, but because hearts, flowers and ads for jewelry were plastered everywhere I looked.
And Cupid hadn’t gotten around to shooting his arrow for me.
Everyone thought I needed a man in my life to be happy, but I was happy being single. Until my best friend decided I needed a push to get back in the game, tricking me into attending a singles event on Valentines.
That’s when I met Sawyer Rhodes, the most deliciously panty-melting bartender I had ever seen.
It was just a joke, but he convinced me it might just work, and together we came up with a plan to convince our friends and family that we had fallen in love.
With a set of rules in place what could go wrong?
