by Erin Trejo

“What the hell, Mom? What did he say? What…”

“He vowed to make our lives hell. He did it, you know? You were there! My life was hell but by the time I walked, you were already in the fucking club too deep! I couldn’t get you back out. This is all you’ve seen! All you knew. God, I’m so sorry, Greyson.” Tears pool in her eyes as I watch the one woman I’d trusted my whole life finally tell me the truth. Swallowing hard, I shake my head, running my hand through my hair.

  “I can’t believe this shit.”

“I wanted to tell you but what was the point? You wouldn’t leave the damn club even if you knew,” she says.

“You’re right. I wouldn’t but that changes shit! If anyone else knows or finds out, I’m fucked! I can’t kill him! It goes against the rules. Goddamn it!” Slamming my fist into the wall, I relish in the burn I feel. I’m confused, pissed. I don’t know what I feel now, any more than I did when I left the clubhouse.

“I should have told you, Greyson. I’m sorry.” Shaking my head, I turn and walk over, dropping onto the couch.

“I get it. You were tryin’ to protect me in your own way.”

“Doesn’t matter. I fucked that up. Look what happened,” she says, sitting next to me. I lay my head back and close my eyes, trying to close out everything in the goddamn world. A lot of good that does me. My mom sits next to me, placing her hand on my arm.

“None of the guys know that I know of,” she says softly.

“That you know of. That means some could know. Who did he have test me?”

“Greyson,” she says, trying to get me off the new idea that I have in my head.

  “Who?” I growl this time.

  “Reggie.”

“Doc?” I raise my head to look at her and I can’t believe she’s nodding. Reggie is the club doctor, the same one who took Psycho off his meds. I take a shaky breath through my nose before blowing it back out.

  “I see that look.”

  “What look?” I ask.

  “You can’t kill Reggie, Greyson.”

“Who the fuck says I can’t?” Sorry for Reggie but he just became my next enemy. Knowing what I need to do, I shove off the couch and head for the door.

“You can’t do this!” she yells behind me. I ignore her as I walk out the door and climb back on my bike. Yeah, I know exactly what I’m about to do.

  Chapter Seventeen

“Fuck you,” she slurs as I grab Silla’s arm and drag her down the hallway. I know she’s pissed I left her here, but she looked pretty cozy sitting in Preacher’s lap when I walked back in.

“Later,” I say to aggravate her.

“Over my dead body.” Her drink sloshes in the glass, some spilling to the floor as I chuckle. When I get to my room, I shove her inside, watching her stumble a little. I didn’t think hitmen got as drunk as she appears to be. It’s almost funny until I turn to lock the door and hear the knife whip past my head and embed into the door. I smirk and reach up, pulling it free.

“Drunk or missed on purpose?” I ask as I turn to face her.

“Come on now, Grave. I kill for a living. You think I would miss?” With her eyebrow raised, she looks deadly. Fuck, she makes me hard. I twirl the knife between my fingers as I stalk toward her.

“He gave you this for a reason.” Passing the knife back to her, she shakes her head.

  “I wouldn’t do it.”

  “Why?”

“Why would I? He can’t control himself, Grave. No way in hell would I put that knife in his chest.” I nod my head, unsure of what to say to her. I don’t doubt her. Pulling my cut off, I toss it onto the chair before pulling my shirt over my head and dropping onto the bed on my back.

  “What’s bothering you?”

I close my eyes and contemplate the answer. There are so many things bothering me right now. “I had a plan. A well-executed one. I knew how and where and why. Then it all fuckin’ backfired on me,” I tell her. I feel the bed shift when she sits next to me.

  “Why did it backfire?”

“I didn’t have all the details. You ever went on a job and didn’t get all the information? Like someone left out an important part of it?” When I feel her hand caressing my cheek, I open my eyes and turn to look at her. Her eyes are dark and deadly but so fucking gorgeous.

  “Tell me,” she urges.

“I went to see my mom. She told me that Cash isn’t my real dad. He had me tested when I was a baby. The one person who knows the truth is the club doc.”

  “Are you kidding me?”

  I shake my head. “No.”

“How does that change things? I don’t understand.”

“Every chapter has rules we live by. Some are put in place by that chapter and that chapter only. A long time ago, there was a rule put in place when one of the members wanted to challenge the prez. As long as they were blood related, they would let it slide. You can’t just kill a president for nothin’. You have to be able to show he wasn’t fulfillin’ his role.”

“That’s pretty easy to get past, Grave.”

“How’s that?” She leans down, her lips nearly touching mine. Her warm breath hits my skin and I want nothing more than to kiss her and make her mine, but I wait.

“We kill the doc and destroy the evidence.”

“We?” She nods her head before pressing her lips to mine. In seconds, I have her on her back, kissing her, rubbing against her. “Since when is there a ‘we?’” I ask while running my nose down her neck.

“Since you stayed with me. Lied for me,” she whispers, arching her back against me. I growl and sit up, ripping my jeans off in record time. Silla wiggles out of her clothes before rolling onto her stomach. She slowly climbs onto her hands and knees, looking at me over her shoulder.

“You were out there ready to ride my boy when I got back,” I remind her while I roll the condom down my length.

“He was fun to play with, but he didn’t have anything I wanted,” she purrs. I stroke my cock while she watches me with lust building in her eyes, but when she bites her lip, I can’t control myself. Climbing onto the bed behind her, I line up and thrust in. She’s already soaked which makes it easier for me. I grip her hips, pounding into her from behind. I know it’s wrong but I’m taking out all my frustrations on her body. Her moans tell me she doesn’t mind. I have too much in my head. Too many things need handling, but when I’m this deep inside of her, I don’t give a fuck about any of them.

“Tell me how fun my boy was,” I growl as I run one hand up her back, grabbing her hair. I yank hard and she lets out a cry. “He pull your hair like this?” My hips thrust, plunge, grind.

  “Oh fuck, Grave!”

“Tell me! Tell me how my boy was, Silla. Did he feel this good?” Releasing her hip, I slap my hand across her ass roughly. She cries out again, her pussy clenching around me. Fuck that’s all it took to make her come? Letting go of her hair, I wrap my arm around her waist as my balls tighten. A tingle races down my spine when I find her clit. I circle it, listening to the sounds falling from her lips. When I feel her start to tense up again, I push further into her, plucking her clit with my fingers until she comes harder than the first time. This time I come with her. Spiraling out of control, I drop onto her back and press light kisses to her back. Our bodies are soaked in sweat, the taste salty but all fucking Silla.

“I didn’t sleep with him,” she whispers into the pillow. I pull out of her and drop onto the bed.

“I know. If you did, I would kill you.” She laughs, sits up and pulls the used condom off before jumping off the bed and heading to the bathroom. When she’s about to close the door, she peeks over her shoulder and says, “Let’s not forget who you’re talking to.”

  Chapter Eighteen

“Tell me why I thought this was a good idea?” I ask Silla as I rummage through the mounds of shit in Reggie’s office.

“I have no idea,” she adds, flipping through the filing cabinet. “I’ve never seen such an unorganized fuck in my
life.”

“He sure isn’t makin’ this easy.” We broke into his office over an hour ago expecting to find the file and be done. No such fucking luck. We’ve dug through everything in here. I knew he wasn’t in today, he had work to do for my dad. I would have thought this would be easier than it is.

“Are you sure these are all his files? Would he keep any at the club? Maybe personal ones?” I shake my head. There is nowhere at the club that would be safe enough to hide shit like that. I would know if there was.

“No, it has to be here.” A few seconds later, I hear the lock on the door. Silla and I share a glance before moving. I move into the small closet, but Silla doesn’t follow. Not like that shocks me at all. She doesn’t follow the rules and I think that’s what draws me to her. The office door opens and Reggie walks in. I can barely see through the crack in the closet door, but I do see Silla. She slowly undoes the top few buttons on her shirt. What the hell is she doing?

“Doctor,” she purrs, catching his attention. He spins around and looks at her strangely. He’s about to open his mouth when she slips the shirt down her arms. In nothing but her bra and skintight shorts, I watch her move toward him.

“Who are you?” Reggie asks her but never takes his eyes off her chest. Bastard. He’s making it easier to kill him now.

“A friend of a friend. I need a favor,” she purrs seductively. The closer she gets to him, the more I want to snap his neck. Silla reaches up, running her fingers down the front of his body and I watch to see how he responds. Like a true bastard, he reaches for her, pulling her closer to him. His fingers move over her flesh as she arches into his touch. I watch as his mouth comes down to take hers. Anger works its way down my spine like ice encapsulating my bones. My nostrils flare, hands clench at my side. I want to look away, but I can’t. I need to make sure he doesn’t fuck with her.

“What do you need, darlin’?” he asks, running his nose down her neck and between her tits. He’d better be careful with that one. Any other girl and I might not give a shit.

“I need some old records you have.” He stops moving and shoves her away. She stumbles, her ass hitting the side of his desk before she catches herself.

“Who the fuck are you?” he hisses as he reaches toward his back. I’m faster. I pull my gun and step out of the closet with it already aimed at his head.

“I wouldn’t grab that if I were you,” I warn him. Reggie’s eyes move to mine before they narrow. Silla bends down, grabbing her shirt and putting it back on.

“What the fuck is this, Grave?”

“This is me gettin’ what I need. You got a record.”

  “This about Cash?”

“This is about me. You got a record of my paternity test. I want it.” He shakes his head slowly before looking between me and Silla.

“Who said I had that?” Silla has her shirt buttoned up and the knife Psycho gave her pressed to his neck before he can even blink.

“Let’s not play games, Doc. We all know you have it and it would make this a lot easier on you if you just handed my man what he wanted,” Silla tells him with a smile on her face. Right here. Right now. I see it. I see how she does what she does. How she kills and how she gets close enough to do. It’s not an act. It’s her natural allure. She has a glow about her right now. One I wished I’d see all the time but damn, it’s striking.

“Who the fuck are you?” he asks again, looking to Silla. She smiles and presses the knife a little harder into his flesh.

“That’s a loaded question, Reggie. One I’m not sure you want the answers to, but if you want that little family you have hidden away from the world to remain intact, I would suggest giving my man what he wants.” What the hell?

“Family?” I ask, looking between the two of them.

  “I investigate my jobs, Grave.”

“Yeah? Cash is supposed to investigate our members,” I add, looking at Reggie. “Unless he did. Did he know about your family? He know you were hidin’ shit behind the club’s back?” I ask, walking closer to them. I know Silla has this under control but now I’m curious.

  “Fuck you.”

“I don’t think so. He’s mine. The only fucking that will be getting done is him fucking me over your dead body. Now, do you want to tell him where it is, or should I pay a visit to Marge? And what’s the little one’s name? Oh yes, Violet.” I want to question him more but the look in Silla’s eyes is beyond anything I’ve ever seen. This is her in her element.

  “Don’t you dare touch them.”

“Touch them? Cash will have the whole goddamn club runnin’ through your old lady once he finds out,” I add with a chuckle.

  “You can’t!”

“He can,” Silla adds, pressing the knife into his flesh. Blood seeps out as Reggie cuts his eyes to her. “Oops. I think I might have hit an artery.”

“You bitch!” He starts to reach for the cut, but she shakes her head and he doesn’t. I can’t believe it. One of my brothers taking orders from her.

“Where are the papers?” I ask once more.

“Tick-tock, Doc. We all know you have approximately sixty seconds before you bleed out,” Silla singsongs.

“Bottom folder. In the closet.” He drops into his chair, his face looking pale. Silla jerks her head to the closet, and I rush back to find the file. Throwing shit out of the closet, I find it on the bottom. When I flip it open, there it is. The proof I needed. I hold it up to show Silla when she steps away from Reggie.

“We good?” she asks. I drop the folder to the floor, grab her and slam her against the wall before yanking her bottoms off. Without overthinking it, I shove my pants to the floor and push into her from behind.

“You wanted to fuck over his dead body, didn’t you?”

  “Fuck, yes.”

  Chapter Nineteen

Silla and I sit around the fire watching the proof of who my dad really is burn and turn to ash. No one questioned what we were doing since we often do this, anyway.

“You feel better?” she asks, leaning over and kissing my cheek.

“Yeah, I do. Wanted to ask you somethin’. After I get this club shit handled, you goin’ after your dad?” Silla shifts in her seat before looking over at me.

“I’ve been thinking about that a lot and I’ve asked around. No one thinks it was my dad.”

“What do you mean? I thought you were pretty sure it was,” I ask, watching her.

“I did think it was. Who else would do that? But then there was word going down the chain of command he was looking for me. I don’t know if that means he really didn’t do this, or he is trying to make sure I’m really dead.” The slight unease in her tone pisses me off. This isn’t the girl I met, the girl I’m slowly falling for.

  “How do we find out?”

  “We wait.”

  “We wait?”

“Yes, we wait. When you have the club under control and you’re in charge, you will call in for a hitman. You will ask specifically for me, offer him whatever amount he wants. I will cover it.”

“Like fuck you will,” I tell her. She narrows her eyes at me, and I smirk. “I got this handled, babe. We’ll find out for sure, but I have to ask.”

  “Ask what?”

“What’s after that? What if he didn’t do this, and he wants you back home? You goin’?” Her gaze lowers from mine, giving me my answer. I don’t need to hear it from her lips. I saw it in the look in her eyes. She’s leaving me. I nod my head and bring the beer to my lips, taking a long pull. She asked me once to keep her. She asked me for that, and I gave it to her, but when the time comes, I won’t force her to stay. I can’t.

“Hey, Grave!” I hear Freak calling out to me. I turn my head to look over my shoulder and see him coming my way.

  “What’s up?”

  “You didn’t hear?”

  “Hear what?”

“About Doc? Found dead in his office at work.” I don’t say anything, just stare at him. Obviously, I knew that much, but I have
to put on a show for the guys.

“Fuck, man. What did Cash say?”

“Said it looked like he killed himself.”

  “Why does he think that?”

“The way he was cut. Looks like he cut just the right spot on his neck and bled the fuck out,” he adds with a smirk.

  “No shit? No security footage?”

“Get this, the motherfucker had someone wipe it. Rumor was he was fuckin’ one of his patients right down the hall and didn’t want his supervisors to see that shit.” His laughter slowly fades as he walks away. I glance over at Silla, but she just smiles.

“Security footage was gone, huh? That’s funny because when I called my guy to clean that up, he said the same damn thing,” I tell her. Silla stands and walks in front of me, straddling me before lowering herself down in my lap.

“I might have made a few calls too. I don’t like leaving things unattended.”

“Did you think I would have left it unattended?” There’s a little anger in me over that. Did she doubt me? Did she think I wouldn’t have cleaned up after us?

“Don’t overthink it, Grave. I made the call before we ever got there.”

“I don’t know how much of this shit I’m willin’ to overlook, Silla. I get it. You are who you are but now you’re steppin’ into my world and fuckin’ with my shit!” I roar. Silla climbs out of my lap and stares at me as if I punched her.

“I was only trying to help.”

“No, you were tryin’ to be you! You were tryin’ to see who has the bigger balls and more pull, Silla. At first, I thought, well fuck me, this bitch is badass and can handle herself, but the more you try to outdo me and take over? The more pissed I’m gettin’. I can handle my own cleanup,” I growl as I watch her. She blinks a few times before nodding her head slowly. I’m not trying to hurt her. I don’t want that, but I need her to understand she is now in my world. She isn’t in her dad’s world anymore. We do things differently and she is going to have to come to terms or walk.
