I never tired of hearing those words—or saying them myself. “I love you, Aaric Fireclaw.”
As our bodies spasmed onto each other, our joy blossomed back and forth between us, then, finally, as one.
We held each other a long time, breathing together. I could feel his pillar nestled in the crack of my behind, ready for more. But then his eyes fluttered open and I caught a glimpse of the pure adoration in them.
I sighed. Aye, it was time. “Aaric. I’ve something to tell you.”
He kissed me on the cheek. “Aye?”
“It’s…” My mind swam to find the words—the right ones to express all my joy and fear and excitement at this upcoming babe. But it drew a blank. And that’s when I understood. That there were no right words for this, no right way to properly express it. All I could do was say it, and say it true. “I’m with babe.”
And here I’d thought I’d already seen Aaric at his happiest.
As if struck, Aaric sat up ramrod-straight, a grin growing bigger and bigger on his face—silly-looking, so big like that.
“But that’s… that’s… I’m to be a father.” He kissed me, picked me up, and twirled me in his strong arms. “We’re to have a child.”
I giggled. “Aye, we are.”
We sat back down, him placing me in his lap as his hand idled through my hair.
Aye, here with my two loves—my verr and my child—this was the best day of my life.
Of that, there was no doubt.
