Something Familiar (The Vandran Legacy Book 2) Page 3

“Well then, let me rectify that situation,” he said, reaching for the top button of his white shirt.

“Let me,” she whispered, walking towards him and hurriedly beginning to unbutton his shirt, which quickly joined her dress on the floor. The intake of breath from her told him she appreciated what she saw. She ran her fingers up his muscled abdomen, his skin tingled at her touch.

“You are beautiful,” she said, taking him by surprise. He caught her roaming hand and kissed her fingers, trailing kisses down her wrist; she moaned.

It was all too much, he was barely holding on, he needed to be inside her very soon, the noises she was making were going straight to his painfully hard cock.

He slammed his mouth down on hers, discarding the flimsy material that covered her intimate parts.

He feathered kisses across her jawline and down to her perfect breasts, he took her left nipple into his mouth and sucked on the milky flesh while his fingers made their way down to her wet centre to explore her folds. Her nails dug into his shoulders and she cried out, this spurred him on and he pushed her back until her body hit the mattress of the king-size bed. He kissed down her stomach and parted her thighs, reaching her sacred core in seconds. He drank her up, flicking her most sensitive spot with his tongue until she cried out, grinding against his mouth, her hands painfully gripping his hair as she found her release against his greedy mouth, crying out his name. He lapped up all she gave him. He stripped out of his trousers and boxer shorts and joined her on the bed.

She pushed at his chest and straddled his hips. She wanted to take control, and he was powerless to resist. The aqua in her eyes glowed in this light; she was spectacular.

“Is this what you want, Amelia?” he said and rubbed his cock against her wetness.

“It’s what I need, Dominic,” she said and filled herself with him in one movement. The sensation of her surrounding him made both of them gasp. She was so tight and her centre gripped him mercilessly. His eyes rolled back into his head at the sensation.

“Fuck, Amelia, you feel amazing,” he whispered breathlessly before thrusting upwards and driving into her deeper.

She met him thrust for thrust, their bodies dancing together in perfect rhythm. She was everything and more than he imagined; their slow lovemaking set his very soul on fire as he watched her hooded gaze so full of primitive emotion. The little gasps that left her mouth every time he brushed against her sweet spot made his balls tighten. He needed to fuck her hard and feel her tight little pussy squeeze him as she orgasmed. He flipped her onto her back, taking the lead, pounding into her hard. Their cries of passion bounced off the hotel walls. He felt her tighten around him, giving him exactly what he needed as she found her second release; her nails dug into the skin on his back, the sting added to the intensity of feeling her pulse around him. He followed soon after, crying out her name before emptying himself into her magnificent body.. He knew this was only round one, before the night was through they would be imprinted on each other’s bodies.

  She belonged to him now.

  Chapter Four

  Emmie

  Emmie opened her eyes.

Dawn was just breaking, the soft light filtered in through the closed blinds.

Dominic’s arm was flung over her naked body. She dared a little glance at him, he looked so peaceful and contented, it was a far cry from the mean business-driven warlock everyone knew and feared.

The night before came flooding back and all the naughty things she had let him do to her. She groaned. Why had she drunk so much wine?

She pulled out of his big arms, being careful not to disturb him, and walked to the bathroom to relieve herself, grabbing her underwear, a pair of jeans and a t-shirt on the way.

She would send someone up to collect the rest of her things later. She had to get out of here before he woke up.

She quickly dressed and walked back into the bedroom to find her Converse.

Dominic was still asleep. He had moved so he was lying on his front. The blanket had fallen, exposing the top of his butt. She contemplated climbing back in with him. He was a work of art, all hard muscle and tanned skin. She hadn’t seen him properly last night in their frantic sex-fest in the dark but if the back of him looked like this then jeez, the rest of him must be a mouth-watering masterpiece.

He was definitely not small in the genital department, the ache between her legs was a reminder of that. But what did she know? She only had Will to compare him to and he hadn’t been small.

She mentally shook herself, it had just been too long since feeling anything like last night. He was dangerous. They were socially incompatible. She would never fit into his world. Plus, she had murdered his sister for God’s sake. The list against them was endless.

She scribbled a note to that effect and thanked him for a lovely evening. Stating that this was a one-time thing, she placed it on the pillow next to him and left. She was heading to Iris’s to pick up Hope, she needed to organise her life and stay as far away from that gorgeous man as she could. Resisting his charms and that sexy, deep voice would challenge even the strongest willed.

She needed to start another property search today. She couldn’t accept the apartment, it was too much. Besides, she couldn’t avoid him if she was living there so residing in the apartment he had purchased was not an option for her.

She just prayed she was making the right choice. He had seemed so genuine, like he was serious about her; he had seemed so caring and attentive, like he really wanted something with her?

Had she just made a big mistake?

  Dominic

A phone ringing woke him from the best sleep he’d had in a long time. He cursed and pulled himself out of bed to retrieve the dammed thing.

Amelia must be in the bathroom freshening up, he thought, taking in the empty bed. At least the stupid ringing wouldn’t wake her. He found the phone in his suit pocket and answered abruptly.

  “Hello?”

“Dominic, it’s Patrick. Listen, we’ve got a problem.”

“Patrick this better be important, otherwise, I won’t be responsible for my actions,” he snarled.

“It is, sir, it’s about Ms Stewart.”

  “Amelia? What about her?”

“She’s in danger, sir, it appears your affections towards her didn’t go unnoticed last night. The Domini Bellatorum are displeased, they see your union with her as an insult to your birth right as she is a mere familiar. They have ordered her immediate assassination.”

“Who’s their informant?” Dominic snarled again, rage building at the audacity of them. Were they not aware of who she was related to? Did they know who they were messing with for fuck’s sake?

“I don’t know, sir, but I am working on finding out. What do you need me to do?” Patrick asked, in his usual military tone.

“Get some men together and head over to The Sanctuary, Hope is there with Iris, I want her guarded with your life, I’ll be there soon,” he said and hung up.

Walking to the bathroom, he opened the door expecting to see a very naked Amelia in the shower with every intention of joining her. She wasn’t there; his heart sank.

Storming back into the bedroom he noticed the piece of paper on the pillow next to his.

No, it couldn’t be. He raced over and picked it up, reading the roughly written words.

  Dear Dominic

Thank you for a wonderful evening, it was very memorable. This can only ever be a one-night thing between us, I can’t accept the apartment as I can’t ever see you again, I am so sorry. There’s just so many reasons we can’t be in a relationship, we come from different worlds and I won’t fit into yours after what I did.

  Please don’t contact me.

  I wish you well

Could this morning get any worse? No woman had ever run out on Dominic Bellator, it was usually him that left or kicked them out before dawn. He should have expected as much from her, she was uncertain about him and
their connection, he would have to work harder to prove he was worthy of her trust. Amelia was under his skin and he had to get to her, he had to warn her. She wasn’t running from him again. He could protect her and Hope from all of this bullshit; what was it about this woman that made him throw all of his caution out of the window? He was screwed.

He grabbed his rumpled clothes from the floor and hurriedly got dressed. He had never felt anything like this, his heart ached after reading that letter, but he didn’t care what she had said, she was his. Those words were the scribbles of someone scared to trust again. He knew he would have to work on that, he would make her see that they belonged together. She was just afraid of being betrayed after what her husband and his sister had put her through. He clenched his fists, thinking about how scared she had been the first night he saw her; even then the stirrings he had felt for her were a new sensation for him, all he had wanted to do was take care of her. She was in danger again now and he would protect her and Hope with his life, he was past caring what his coven’s plans were for him, they could all go to hell, he had never craved something as bad as the beautiful Tigress that filled his every thought.

The Domini Bellatorum were no match for his darker side and they had just unleashed an anger inside him that he had kept hidden for well over a decade. He could feel the burning starting in his gut as fury began taking over.

This wasn’t going to end well for those who crossed him today.

He reached his black Aston Martin DB5, his favourite of the few classic cars he owned. At this moment he was thankful he had driven himself to the wedding last night, he wasn’t in the mood for small talk. He pulled out of the hotel carpark breaking a few speeding laws and headed for The Sanctuary ready for whatever the next few hours threw at him.

  Chapter Five

  Emmie

“Who the fuck are you and what the hell do you think you’re doing barging in here?” Iris screamed at the three big men who had just let themselves into her house. Her brown eyes were yellow, her beast was ready for protecting her territory.

Emmie pushed herself in front of Iris, knowing her beast stood more of a chance against these fuckers if shit got violent.

“Get the fuck out of this house now or I’ll introduce you to something you don’t want to fuck with,” she snarled, feeling her beast clawing at her flesh from the inside.

A guy who was larger in both height and width pushed his way through the three men, looking guilty.

“Apologies for barging in here, Ms Stewart, but Dominic sent us. You and your daughter’s lives are in danger.” She couldn’t contain her beast for much longer, she could feel the change starting. The look of terror on his face at the change of her features would have been amusing if she wasn’t so pissed off.

“We had orders to come. Dominic is on his way here personally, Ms Stewart.”

  Shit.

“Well, I suggest you wait outside for your boss, my daughter is upstairs and if you’ve scared her in the slightest I will rip all of your dicks off and feed them to you. OUT NOW,” she ordered, so close to losing it completely with these dickheads. She was hungover and really not in the mood for bullshit.

They all looked like naughty school children who had just been reprimanded as she marched them all outside.

A black car pulled into the carpark, kicking up dust with the speed it flew in at.

“You’ve got to be shitting me,” Emmie huffed, pissed at whoever this was for their disregard for anyone’s safety. She marched over, fuming.

“Are you fucking stupid?” she yelled, as the driver’s door opened. “I have a four-year-old running around here you dick—” She stopped mid-shout as Dominic’s big frame exited the car.

“I’m happy to see you too, Amelia,” he said, his face thunderous.

He had come straight from the hotel and was looking all crumpled and sexy in his suit from the night before. She forgot how tall and dominating he was when he was mad. She felt her body react to him immediately, remembering the things they had done; goose bumps broke out on her skin. Her natural instinct towards this man pissed her off all over again.

“You need to take your goons and leave now!” she snarled at him.

“I am not going anywhere, Amelia, not until I know you and Hope are safe,” he snarled back.

“Me and Hope are none of your concern!” she shouted.

“You are when it’s because of me that you’re in danger!” he shouted back.

  This man was infuriating.

“What are you talking about?” she asked calming her voice slightly. This slanging match wasn’t getting them anywhere.

“Will you let me in, so I can explain?” he asked, running his hand through his hair. He looked worried, there was obviously something going on.

“Fine Dominic, let’s take a walk, I don’t want Hope upset,” she huffed. “This way.” She headed for the gate.

“It’s not safe in the woods, Amelia,” he said behind her, halting her in her tracks.

“Fine, I’ll ask Iris for one of the cabin keys. This better not be bullshit, Dominic, you scared poor Iris half to death sending your meathead friends,” she spat, stomping back to the house.

“I assure you, Amelia, I never send my men unless I have to,” he said, following behind her as she entered the house in search of Iris.

  Dominic

She was feisty, her usual pale complexion was flushed with anger, her aqua eyes were glowing. Her beast was awake and ready to pounce. His cock grew hard and he internally groaned, he was enjoying being chastised by her a little too much. She stomped out of Iris’s house and back across the carpark to one of the cabins. Her mood obviously hadn’t softened. He followed behind her feeling slightly amused by her antics.

“In here,” she snapped, opening the cabin closest to the house. He followed her inside and she turned on him again.

“So, say what you came to say and then leave,” she said. This girl didn’t take any prisoners.

“Amelia, you need to listen to me, you cannot stay here. The Domini Bellatorum have ordered your assassination. They see you as a threat to my birth right.” He had her attention now, anger was replaced by fear in her beautiful eyes.

“What have I done Dominic? …Fuck. Is this because of Juliet?” she said. Her face had drained of all colour and she slumped onto the end of the bed.

He paced the room racking his brain; he was never good at expressing his feelings.

“Dominic, why?” she cried, desperate for answers. Her blue eyes were brimming with tears. It nearly brought him to his knees seeing her so scared.

“It’s my fault, Amelia, I did this,” he said, a little harsher than he intended. “I wasn’t supposed to act on my attraction towards you. You were out of bounds to me. Why do you think I have stayed away this long? I should never have gone to that wedding last night… But when I saw you again.” He whispered the last part. “I am not sorry for making love to you, Amelia.”

“So a one-night stand with you just put me and my daughter in danger? What was I thinking? It was good, Dominic, I won’t deny that, but it wasn’t worth this… I need to leave, and you need to stay the fuck away from me.” The beast was back in her eyes she stood to walk out; he gripped her shoulders to stop her.

“Me staying away isn’t an option now, I will not see you hurt because of me. They don’t know what I am capable of, Amelia, I have darkness inside me and I will use it if pushed,” he said. He had to make her stay.

“I don’t need you to protect me. Let me go. I need to contact my mother and sister. Heather will know what to do,” she said stubbornly.

“Let me try and reason with them before you involve Heather. The last thing we need is an all-out spectral war. This is my mess, I need to rectify it if I can. You and Hope can stay with me in the mansion until I know it’s safe. It should only be for a few days.” He knew if he wanted to he could make her do his bidding with a spell, but he wasn’t his father, he wouldn’t force her into
anything like his father had his mother.

Amelia looked like she was thinking everything over.

“Do you really think you can talk them round?” she asked, looking hopeful.

“I don’t know, but I am going to damn well try.”

“OK Dominic, we’ll try it your way, but if they refuse to listen I am calling Heather. Deal?” She still looked uncertain, but he would agree to anything if it meant she was safe in his care.

“Deal. I’ll send for a car to collect you both shortly. My men will stay with you until it arrives. If you need anything at all, just ask Patrick, he’s the big gentleman you were just giving hell to, he will be more than accommodating. I am going to set up a meeting, I will be a few hours. I should be back this evening. Hopefully I’ll know more by then,” he said, letting her go and turning to leave.

  “Dominic?”

  “Yes Amelia?”

“This will change nothing between us, what happened last night won’t be repeated,” she said. The fight was back in her eyes. Feisty Amelia pleased and pissed him off at the same time.

“We’ll see,” he said, kissing her chastely on mouth before walking out and slamming the cabin door behind him.

  Chapter Six

  Emmie

Her lips still tingled from his abrupt assault on her mouth, a wave of pleasure cursed through her body and she shuddered. How could she resist him when just a touch of his lips left her in this predicament? She was becoming insatiable when it came to that man.

She let the last five minutes sink in and her sanity returned; she silently chastised herself for her weakness. Her stupidity and inability to keep her pants on last night had put her and Hope in danger. She had to snap out of whatever had gotten into her since coming back to Ireland.

She needed to contact Clara and let her know what was going on and where she could find her later. She closed her eyes and focused on channelling her sister.
