That meant Rachael could either ask her the favor of buying lingerie for her, or she could wait until it was Aaron’s turn. “Right, but when is yours?”
Aaron glanced up. “Jackson is next before I am.”
That was even worse. Once her hair was up in a wet ponytail, Rachael sighed and said, “Okay. I’ll ask Eva.”
“A wise decision,” said Aaron gravely.
“Ass.”
He shrugged.
At last prepared to face the rest of the pack, Rachael opened her bedroom door. She walked out as though nothing had happened—and, for all anyone looked up, that was exactly how they saw it.
She stopped by the couch and frowned. “Jackie, didn’t you beat this game already?”
Her brother grunted, his massive thumbs flying over the controller. “Hey. Can’t talk. Co-op mode. Eva’s killing me.”
She was, realized Rachael. She grinned and looked to her brother’s wife. Eva was the complete opposite of her brother; tall and thin, with long dark hair and an angular but pretty face. In contrast, Jackson remained broad in the shoulders and a little stocky for his age.
Eva didn’t even greet Rachael. That, like becoming a lycan, had taken Rachael a lot of getting used to. The other woman seemed intent on pulverizing Jackson to dust via pixelated battle. So Rachael just patted her brother on the shoulder and made her way to the kitchen. After shapeshifting back and forth, followed by an intense shower, she was starving.
She dimly noticed Nathan sitting at the dining room table. Rachael tried to pretend she didn’t notice, but unease prickled down her back. Reluctantly, she gave him a hard stare—and realized he was staring at her chest with a satisfied smile.
He wasn’t leering, she realized. He was simply happy he’d successfully ruined her things. Even with the extra layer of material, it was pretty obvious what she was missing.
This is exactly why I said you were still a kid, she thought furiously. It took everything Rachael had to draw in a deep breath and turn her back on him once more. If she didn’t acknowledge it, then he couldn’t possibly enjoy it.
But, she thought in dismay as she poured herself a glass of juice, maybe that wasn’t the point for Nathan. Maybe the point was just making her and Aaron as uncomfortable as possible.
If so, this was going to be more of an uphill battle than she’d assumed thus far.
