by David Pepper
The Cincinnati Mercantile Library, the Hamilton County Library, the Cuyahoga County Library, and numerous local bookstores around Ohio, also generously provided for a local, first-time author to begin his trek in writing.
Finally, I owe eternal thanks and love to my wife, Alana, and my sons, Jack (six) and Charlie (three), for their love and support along the way. The 6 a.m. chapter. The 10 p.m. chapter. The chapter during nap time. Scribbling notes at 2 a.m. after a middle-of the night dream fixed a problem in the plotline. Reading phrases out loud to make sure they made sense. Asking Alana for good name suggestions (Tori Justice being one), or to smile for a few seconds so I could describe her perfect smile for a critical moment in the plot.
Alana has supported me through all of it, even at the outset, fresh off our honeymoon, when I told her, out of the blue, that I thought I’d like to try my hand at fiction.
What a journey!
