  Chapter One

  Xavier

The vibration of my Harley echoed through my entire body as I swayed to the rhythm of the machine under me. The Council had summoned us to a sudden meeting that had Ash, Jordan, and me having to drop everything to get our asses to London.

We’d been on our own business trip, checking out the renovation work on our new business venture. The Midnight and Twilight Rooms in London were a huge success, but we needed to expand and that included what we offered our exclusive clientele.

  Sex.

The old country manor we’d bought was currently being changed into a pleasure pavilion that catered to every fantasy that existed. Themed rooms with costume facilities seemed to be the latest craze, where you could enact a scene from your favourite book or movie. Our motto was if it was consensual and legal, we could cater to your every need. I didn’t care what your kink was, because we’d indulged in our fair share over the years.

Stones crunched under the wheels of our bikes as we ambled up the winding driveway to the mansion that had housed the Council our families had governed over for centuries. Our reach was global, and our portfolios delved into every major trade that existed, our ancestors buying shares in company’s years before they became popular.

By the look of the carpark, everyone else had arrived. We left our bikes in our allotted spaces before sauntering up the steps. Jordan shot me a wry look when he saw the security on the door.

“I wouldn’t fucking think about it.” He sneered when they stepped forward to pat us down. I wasn’t sure if I should be impressed with my friend’s ability to terrify the guards or be worried that they let us through without adhering to the security protocols.

Jordan was in charge of security for the Council, and he was a scary asshole when he wanted to be. Nothing got past him in this organisation, and that included who was having an affair or if anyone was stealing from the cookie jar. His vengeance was legendary. You did not want to get on the wrong side of Jordan.

Ash wandered along beside me with his hands deep in his pockets and his thoughts in a different country. His brother Michael had been marked for death for treachery, and every day waiting to hear if he was gone weighed down on him heavily. Not even the open road or Jordan dragging Ash to the dungeons in The Midnight Rooms had lifted his mood.

A trickle of sweat ran down my back as we seated ourselves at the round table in the centre of the house. Too many years ago to remember, a group of men decided they were entitled to take what they wanted from life and didn’t give a damn who they trod on in the process. They formed the first Council in this very room.

Over the years, the house had been adapted to have the highest security system available in it. Our accountants monitored all our investments from here, and we paid the best hackers we could find to keep it all safe.

“Dad.” I nodded to my father, who sat staring daggers at me with a glass of whiskey sitting beside him. He rarely never had a glass within reach, preferring it to any other beverage. He was either permanently drunk or slowly preserving himself for eternity.

“Glad you could join us,” he barked out, his fingers seeking the glass.

“We were out of town on business.” I deliberately stood and turned my back to him in the pretence of pouring myself a cup of coffee.

He’d been in a pissy mood since he’d recently discovered the three of us owned a global chain of high-end sex clubs. I had no doubt his name was on our membership, but I chose not to look because that would creep me out.

“Hmmm.” His low, growly answer made my lips turn up in a nonchalant smile as I returned to the table.

“I won’t apologise for running a strong, profitable business.” My gaze locked on his in a battle of wills. There wasn’t a man in this room who would criticise us for our business plan. The problem was it involved sex, and that made my father very uncomfortable. He had more divorces than I could count, but he still had an ideal image of family life.

In fairness, when I opened the first Midnight Rooms, I had no thoughts of family life. All I wanted was somewhere I could lose myself in a crowd and have sex without women wanting too much of me and reporters following me.

Ash and Jordan came on board after that, and we expanded worldwide. Sex was a huge business, kink even bigger. People wanted to live their fantasises without risking being ridiculed for it. If someone wanted to dress
up in an inflatable dinosaur outfit to have sex with his wife dressed as a duck, who was I to judge? And yes, that had been a request.

It wasn’t as if anyone went to the Midnight or Twilight Rooms searching for their future partner. Yet, that had happened to me.

Cassandra Kinkade consisted of everything a bad man wanted in a fantasy and she was all mine. I found her and I was keeping her. No one knew of her existence but the two men I trusted with my life, and not even they were aware of the full extent of my feelings for her. They would protect her because she belonged to me and I would do the same for them one day.

She’d walked into my web because she was innocent, and her friend had dragged her along behind her as an emotional crutch. Now Cassandra was the biggest secret of my life and I would tear everything apart to protect her.

Ash’s father Matteus brought the meeting to order and fixed us all with his scariest glare. Normally, he reminded me of a benevolent uncle. Now, he was more a malevolent spirit. “We have a problem.”

Another one? I glanced at Jordan, who silently lifted a shoulder.

“One of our shipments was intercepted by one of those disgusting biker groups filled with thieves and villains.”

It sounded like he was describing us, considering we tended to deal with a lot of business ourselves, as paid guns could turn queen’s evidence with the right incentive.

“What was taken?” Ash asked, leaning back in his chair to study the ceiling.

“A shipment of rare jewels. I doubt they even knew what they were taking. They were being smuggled in with weapons.” Matteus lifted his glass of whiskey and swallowed it in one gulp, his anger evident on his face. “I want those jewels back before they damage them.”

Some stones were best kept in their raw perfection. It kept their value high and made them untraceable.

My phone buzzed in my pocket and I slid it out. An image popped up and I had to bite the inside of my mouth to stop the smile that wanted to form.

Red or black? The message was accompanied by a photograph of two sets of lingerie.

Take both. I replied, my finger flashing over the screen.

I only need one set since we’re only going away for one night…

Take both, the red won’t last long, and you insist on wearing panties to dinner… I could just imagine the flush on her cheeks as she imagined me destroying those lacy pants and bra.

“Are we interrupting you?” Dad demanded, his fingers drumming on the side of the circular black marble table.

My eyebrows shot up. “You did pull us away from a meeting. I can reply to my solicitor while listening to Matteus.”

Jordan interrupted, throwing Dad a side-eyed look and rolling his eyes. “Can I see the file since no one bothered to send me any of the information?”

Ash lifted the file from in front of his father without asking and pushed it down the table to Jordan. His face was hard and his eyes moved rapidly as he scanned what was in the documents. “When do you need this dealt with?”

His voice was devoid of emotion, and everyone at the table knew Jordan had stepped into his heartless assassin persona.

  “Immediately,” Matteus snapped.

“Yeah, well, that’ll have to wait until I do my own research. I’m not taking a team into a situation where I’m blind.”

Matteus’ jaw tightened and his gaze angrily locked with Jordan’s.

“If you wanna go kill the bad men and get your jewels, I’m not stopping you,” Jordan taunted. These men didn’t get their hands dirty and they sure as hell wouldn’t walk into a motorcycle club and demand their jewels back. That job fell to us because they would never want anyone to know who we were and what we stood for.

Matteus lifted the decanter and filled his glass, then banged it back on the table to show his displeasure. It was water off a duck’s back to Jordan, who casually flicked through the file and ignored him.

My phone buzzed again, and the image nearly made me stand up and prowl out of the room. Cassandra had the red lingerie on and had taken a photo in the changing room. The lace barely contained her full breasts and the panties accentuated her rounded hips. The room started to close in around me. The fact that I was looking at a photo of her in this room of darkness and misery didn’t sit well with me. She belonged to the light.

  Can’t believe I’m sitting in a meeting with a fucking hard-on…

My phone buzzed and it was a blowing kiss emoji. Yeah, she’d be blowing something tonight, and it wouldn’t be a little kiss emoji. I needed to get out of here right now because all my attention was now only on Cassandra.

The meeting devolved into our normal business of profits and assets—the stuff I zoned out of because it didn’t interest me in the slightest. That was the reason we had damned good accountants.

Jordan pushed the file over to me. One of the pages had the corner turned over, so I followed the trail my friend had left. A nail mark underlined a name I was familiar with. We’d visited Marco a few months back and the little shit had resurfaced on our radar again. What the fuck was he doing in North America now?

We had passports that would get us in and out of every country without a single eyebrow being raised because Jordan had created alter egos for us when we were in our teens.

“Any news on Michael?” Matteus asked Jordan.

He should have been dead already, but the Council had decided to give him more rope to hang himself with and see where it led them in his maze of deception. All Michael’s codes had been changed and his access to the Council revoked. Anytime he logged in, it was a fake system with false information that he was handing over to the police. It was making him and all the officers indulging his every need look foolish.

“Nope,” Jordan responded, folding his arms behind his head. “He keeps trying to find what he saw, which makes me think he wasn’t intelligent enough to make a copy. It also tells me what information he was handing over to the law. We’ve already neutralised all the assets without anything tying back to us.”

Dad nodded thoughtfully. “Keep us informed.”

“We done?” I asked hopefully, the image of red lace and creamy flesh engrained in my memory.

“Do you have somewhere you need to be?” Dad asked, his gaze scrutinising like a hawk watching its prey.

“Well we were in the middle of staff interviews for the new club. We need to vet them thoroughly.” A dark smile tipped up my lips and those with a dirty mind took my bait. Their laughs sent a chill down my spine. These men had the darkest fantasises. They played God in this room, but others got their hands dirty. In a locked room, subs who specialised in erotic pain allowed them to pretend to be the type of men they merely commanded.

It wasn’t my place to judge, but they sickened me.

“Motherfucker!” Jordan exploded when we were outside beside our bikes. “One of his men pissed on my boots last time we saw him.”

He hated any sort of bodily fluid on him—it was professional pride that no one had ever connected him to the dead bodies he left behind, if they were ever found.

“I loved those boots…” Jordan glared off toward the fields surrounding the house.

Ash caught my eye and his lips twitched. For someone who could kill a man a thousand different ways, our friend was very sentimental about his belongings.

“Gotta go, guys,” I said. “Let me know when we’re heading out and who we’ll be while visiting.”

Jordan nodded absently, his thoughts on murder and mayhem.

“You going to The Midnight Rooms tonight?” Ash asked, throwing his leg over his bike.

“Nah, I’m busy tonight. Another time?”

“You better not be getting serious on us,” Ash warned.

“I’ll go tomorrow night. Happy?” If I was going, then Cassandra was meeting me there because I had no interest in letting my dick anywhere near anyone else.

“That’s what I’m talking about!” Ash gave me a shit-eating grin. “You in, Jay?”

Yeah, whatever. I’ll maybe go and use the computers here to start searching for intel.” He waved in our direction and wandered back toward the house.

“Safe home,” I said, snapping my visor down over my face. Ash gave me a thumbs up when he did the same.

The entire way home to Cassandra’s apartment that red lace tempted me. She insisted that her apartment was her independence, but she slept every night in my bed, whether that bed belonged in her place or mine.

She squealed when my hands encircled her waist, her head tilting and back arching when she realised it was me.

“Hmmm,” she purred as my hand roved over her body. “I thought you were in a meeting.”

“I was.” My teeth bit down on her ear. “Until a sexy minx started sending me pictures of her clad only in silk and lace.”

My hand slid down the front of her yoga pants and under the lace panties she always wore. She stood on tiptoes to encourage my fingers that had found that needy little mass of nerves between her legs.

“Zee,” she moaned when I removed my hand.

“What’s for dinner?” I lifted a lid from a pot to peer inside.

“You,” Cassandra snapped. “If you don’t give me an orgasm right now.”

My lips twitched at the indignant look on her gorgeous face.

“Clothes off and on your knees,” I commanded.

Excitement sparked in her huge green eyes as her clothes were peeled off one item at a time. She sank to the floor in front of me. She wanted me to take her to The Twilight Rooms, so I’d been training her here in preparation since I didn’t want to leave her in the sub rooms where our submissives were trained.

No one touched her but me.

My breath caught and heart stumbled over its beat when her hands landed on my belt. Her eyes never once left mine as my zip descended to release my hard length that was throbbing with need.

My eyes closed as she put her lips to work.
