I also, of course, need to thank my most wonderful critique partner, Anastasia. We started working together for the first time on Wolf’s Promise ( and her soon to be released Tremors – a very exciting time travel novel – don’t worry, if you sign up for my mailing list I will let you know when it comes out). She was an invaluable asset, pointing out when I hadn’t been clear enough, and keeping me from veering off wildly on occasion (ahem… on several occasions). When I decided I was ready to take the plunge and publish Moonrise, She was right there helping get it into shape for its big debut. No one has ever had a more dedicated, enthusiastic and encouraging critique partner. We should all be so blessed.
I want to give a particular shout out to Cheryl of OffGridHomesteadPrepper.com for her generous gift of time, and excellent work reading over Wolf’s Promise and pointing out a number of missed words and other errors (pretty much all on stuff I added after getting it back from Wendy, the Passionate Proofreader.) Thank you Cheryl! Check out her blog on living off the grid – very interesting.
I want to take a moment to thank Romance Writers of America for providing invaluable resources to the developing writer, including thousands of on-line courses and recorded presentations at very reasonable rates. And then I must mention my own chapter of RWA—because you people rock—and you are certainly shining the light on romance. An awesome bunch of people with fabulous programs and workshops. Keep up the good work!
I would also like to thank Wendy, the Passionate Proofreader, who has once again done a stellar job proofing the (semi) final draft. I did make some edits after I got it back from her so if you do find errors, those are probably mine. Please, if anyone does find a typo, send me an e-mail. Just put Typo and Wolf’s Promise in the subject line. We did our best to weed out these pesky critters, but they’re wily. Some of them still slip through.
Finally, I just want to acknowledge that I got the great wolf silhouette and moon used on the cover of Moonrise from Freepik – check them out at www.freepik.com. They have lots of free clip art. I didn’t actually use a silhouette on Wolf’s Promise, I went with a picture, but I do really like that they are there for me if I need them. And I need to thank Max PhotoMaster from Fiverr.com who tried valiantly to follow my instructions on my cover design, in spite of some significant language barriers on both sides. We got it 90% to where I want it, so I figure that’s pretty good until I can either learn photoshop or Sinhala!
I would love to hear from you my readers, about this series, gardening, or really anything else. My e-mail is [email protected]
And stay tuned for the release of:
Checkmate: Book 3 of the Rabbit River Saga
Available probably sometime in February or March 2019. Join my mailing list and I’ll let you know, or follow me on Amazon. And of course you can follow me/friend me on FaceBook and Twitter, should you so desire.
All my best,
Elyce
About the Author
Elyce de Reefe grew up in Santa Cruz, California and New York City. She likes to call herself a coastal girl, since she has spent nearly all of her time on one coast or another. She enjoys all genres of romance as long as there’s a hot, sexy hero with something to learn, a smart female lead who refuses to compromise on who she truly is, and the promise of a happily ever after. Her characters often find themselves on a journey of discovery, struggling to achieve true intimacy while solving the real-life problems thrown in their way.
To date, Elyce has written paranormal wolf shifter romance, contemporary romance, and romantic suspense. But there’s a Sci-Fi series in there waiting to come out, and possibly an epic fantasy series, as well as thoughts on a time travel story. Her ancestors were highlanders, after all.
Elyce loves hiking in nature, riding horses, watching wildlife, swimming under a blue sky, digging in the dirt, and sitting in front of a fire with a good book. She enjoys these things even more in the company of friends and family. Add wine and chocolate, and voila! It’s a beautiful life.
Oh, yes – and she has a very special place in her heart for wolves…
