  2011/1980 – Promo Video

  Blue Sway

Set to ocean footage, ‘Blue Sway’ is an atmospheric instrumental that was recorded at the ‘McCartney II’ sessions, but unreleased until 2011.

  00-02-12 – Promo Videos #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 and #6.

  My Valentine

An album of pre-rock era standards (something Ringo had done 42 years earlier), ‘Kisses On The Bottom’ did surprisingly well, reaching No. 3 in the UK and No. 5 in the USA, though the single ‘My Valentine’ only got to No. 136 in the UK, and nowhere in the USA. There are 6 different videos for the song, all directed by Paul, but none actually featuring him, instead they all star Johnny Depp and/or Natalie Portman.

09-02-12 – ‘Live Kisses’, Capital Studios (USA)

I’m Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter / Home (When Shadows Fall) / It’s Only A Paper Moon / More I Cannot Wish You / The Glory Of Love / We Three (My Echo, My Shadow And Me) / Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate The Positive / My Valentine / Always / My Very Good Friend The Milkman / Bye Bye Blackbird / Get Yourself Another Fool / My One and Only Love

Released as a live DVD, backed by an orchestra and in black and white, Paul performs songs from his ‘Kisses On The Bottom’ album.

12-02-12 – ‘The 54th Annual Grammy Awards’ (USA)

My Valentine / Medley: Golden Slumbers – Carry That Weight – The End [with Bruce Springsteen, Joe Walsh and Dave Grohl]

04-06-12 – ‘The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert’ (UK)

Magical Mystery Tour / All My Loving / Let It Be / Live and Let Die / Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da [finale, with Stevie Wonder, Madness, Cliff Richard, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Kylie Minogue, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Robbie Williams and others]

As with the 2002 show, this was broadcast live from the grounds of Buckingham Palace, and is another fine performance.

27-07-12 – ‘Games of the XXX Olympiad’ (UK)

  Hey Jude

This starts off sounding very strange indeed, with two audible Paul McCartney voices. What happened was, the organisers wanted him to mime to avoid technical problems, but Paul insisted on playing live, so they reached a compromise by getting him to record a version earlier, then, if there were problems, he could mime to that. All fine in practice, but, following some loud firework explosions, Paul hesitated slightly before starting, so they pressed the ‘play’ button on the recording, resulting in the 2 voices. Once this passed, everything was fine, with the
crowd loving him as always.

  00-12-12 – Promo Video

  The Christmas Song

A continuation of the ‘Kisses On The Bottom’ theme, here Paul croons the seasonal standard made famous by Nat ‘King’ Cole.

12-12-12 – ‘Concert For Sandy’, Madison Square Garden, New York (USA)

Helter Skelter / Let Me Roll It / Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five / My Valentine [with Diana Krall] / Blackbird / Cut Me Some Slack [with Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear] / I've Got A Feeling / Live and Let Die

In complete contrast to ‘The Christmas Song’, the highlight of this charity concert is ‘Give Me Some Slack’, a noisy collaboration with the remaining members of Nirvana, for which Paul plays a cheap looking ‘cigar box’ guitar.

15-12-12 – ‘Saturday Night Live’ (USA)

My Valentine [with Joe Walsh] / Cut Me Some Slack [with Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear] / Wonderful Christmastime

Featuring another performance of the Nirvana reunion song, also performed but not broadcast was ‘Birthday’ and ‘Get Back’.

00-12-12 – Promo Video – THE JUSTICE COLLECTIVE

He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother

A charity record, the recording and video also includes Tony Hicks, Bobby Elliot, Gerry Marsden, Robbie Williams, Holly Johnson, Paloma Faith and many others. The record topped the UK charts.

14-06-13 – ‘Bonnaroo’, Great Stage Park, Manchester, TN (USA)

Eight Days A Week / Junior's Farm / All My Loving / Listen To What The Man Said / Medley: Let Me Roll It - Foxy Lady / Paperback Writer / My Valentine / Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five / The Long and Winding Road / Maybe I'm Amazed / The Midnight Special / We Can Work It Out / Another Day / And I Love Her

From 13-05-13 to 22-10-15, Paul did another lengthy, off and on, tour, this time entitled the ‘Out there’ tour, playing in Brazil, the USA, Poland, Italy, Austria, Canada, Japan, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica, South Korea, the UK, France, The Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

00-09-13 – Promo Video – THE BLOODY BEETROOTS

  Out Of Sight

Proving that he can still rock, Paul recorded this single with Italian electronic group the Bloody Beetroots. Slightly reminiscent of the slow ‘Anthology’ version of ‘Helter Skelter’ but far weirder, full marks to Paul for trying something a little different. The video sees him singing with the scary-looking, masked, group.

  00-09-13 – Promo Video #1

  New

A new album and a new single, both of them entitled ‘New’! ‘New’ (the song) is a bit like ‘Penny Lane’, and is seen here in a video that features on and offstage shots, along with the lyrics to the song. ‘New’ the single only got to No. 105 in the UK, but ‘New’ the album reached No. 3 in both the UK and the USA.

  00-09-13 – Promo Video #2

  New

Perhaps not really a promo video, though this was posted on Paul McCartney’s official YouTube channel at around the time of the song’s release, and features a brilliant, almost acapella, performance of the song, with Paul and all of the band members harmonizing.

23-09-13 – ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ (USA)

Magical Mystery Tour / Save Us / Junior's Farm / Jet / New / Lady Madonna / Birthday / Another Day / Everybody Out There / Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da / Band On The Run / Back In The U.S.S.R. / Day Tripper / Let it Be / Hey Jude

  00-10-13 – Promo Video

  Queenie Eye

This video features Paul performing the song in a recording studio, accompanied by Johnny Depp and a large group of dancers.

16-10-13 – ‘BBC Radio 2 In Concert with Jo Whiley’, Maida Vale Studios, London (UK)

Eight Days A Week / Save Us / Jet / My Valentine / Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five / Another Day / Everybody Out There / Things We Said Today / New / Queenie Eye / Lady Madonna / Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite! / Band On The Run / Back In The U.S.S.R. / Hey Jude

Performing in front of a studio audience, this is basically a live radio show with visuals, as is the show below, performed on the same day.

16-10-13 – ‘BBC Radio 6 Music – Lauren Laverne’, Maida Vale Studios, London (UK)

Coming Up / New / Get Back

18-10-13 – ‘The Graham Norton Show’ (UK)

  New

21-10-13 – ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ (USA)

Eight Days A Week / Jet / Everybody Out There / We Can Work It Out / Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da / Birthday / Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite! / Save Us / New / Lady Madonna

  This was taped on 07-10-13.

22-10-13 – ‘Later Live… with Jools Holland’ (UK)

  New / Get Back

  25-10-13 – ‘Later… With Jools Holland’ (UK)

Save Us / New / Queenie Eye

21-11-13 – The Dome, Tokyo (Japan)

Eight Days a Week / Save Us / All My Loving / Listen To What The Man Said / Let Me Roll It / Paperback Writer / My Valentine / Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five / The Long and Winding Road / Maybe I'm Amazed / I've Just Seen A Face / We Can Work It Out / Another Day / And I Love Her / Blackbird / Here Today / New / Queenie Eye / Lady Madonna / All Together Now / Lovely Rita / Everybody Out There / Eleanor Rigby / Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite! / Something / Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da / Band On The Run / Back In The U.S.S.R. / Let It Be / Live and Let Die / Hey Jude / Day Tripper / Hi, Hi, Hi / Get Back / Yesterday / Helter Skelter / Medley: Golden Slumbers - Carry That Weight - The End

Although the same couldn’t be said for every show, this Tokyo concert captures Paul at the very top of the game, with ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’, a song he has often had to drop in the past, featuring high notes that most can only dream of.

09-02-14 – ‘The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute To The Beatles’ (USA)

Birthday / Get Back / I Say Her Standing There / Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band / With A Little Help With My Friends [Performed by Ringo Starr] / Hey Jude [grand finale, with Ringo Starr, Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison and others]

Taped on 27-01-14 in The Los Angeles Conference Centre, this was broadcast exactly 50 years after The Beatles historic debut on ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’. Also performed on the night was ‘Magical Mystery Tour’, but this wasn’t broadcast.

  00-03-14 – Promo Video #1

  Save Us

Despite not featuring Paul, the video for this up-tempo song features photos of fans with the song’s lyrics, and is very cleverly done.

  00-03-14 – Promo Video #2

  Save Us

This 2nd video features footage of Paul performing in Japan, along with clips of fans, sumo wrestlers, etc.

  00-05-14 – Promo Video

  Appreciate

While not much of a song, the interesting video sees Paul meeting a guitar-playing robot.

  00-07-14 – Promo Video

  Early Days

A lovely acoustic number, the video only briefly features clips of Paul playing, mainly concentrating on a storyline involving friends in the American deep south.

  00-09-14 – Promo Video

  Meat Free Monday

Not available in the shops, Paul wrote the song and posted the video, made up of photo stills, to promote vegetarianism.

  00-12-14 – Promo Video

  Hope For The Future

Written for the ‘Destiny’ video game, this sees Paul on a different planet (not for the first time some would say).

16-12-14 – ‘The Daily Show With Jon Stewart’ (USA)

  Hope For The Future

  2014/1973 – Promo Video #3

  Band On The Run

This is an animated lyric video, made to re-promote this perennial song.

  2014/1975 – Promo Video

  Call Me Back Again

Although not featuring Paul, this animated video for the 1975 ‘Venus and Mars’ track is still impressive, as is the Ray Charles-influenced song.

  2014/1979 – Promo Video

  Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reggae

  The instrumen
tal B-side to ‘Wonderful Christmas Time’, this is nicely compiled from 1979 images of Paul and Wings in Santa outfits.

  00-01-15 – Promo Video

FourFiveSeconds [with Rihanna and Kanye West]

While looking very cool, Paul doesn’t actually do a great deal in this song or video, though it did get to No. 3 in the UK and No. 4 in the USA.

08-02-15 – ‘The 57th Annual Grammy Awards’ (USA)

FourFiveSeconds [with Rihanna and Kanye West]

This is a live performance of the unlikely trio’s big hit.

15-02-15 – ‘Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special’ (USA)

I’ve Just Seen A Face [with Paul Simon] / Maybe I’m Amazed

‘I’ve Just seen A Face’, unfortunately, is just a brief duo between Paul and Paul.

  00-05-15 – Promo Video

  Food Revolution Day

Paul contributed to this officially unreleased song and released video, which also features Jamie Oliver, Ed Sheeran, Alesha Dixon and Jamie Cullum, amongst others.

19-12-15 – ‘Saturday Night Live’ (USA)

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town [with Bruce Springsteen]

Paul just joins in to do the occasional backing vocals and dance around while Bruce does all the work, but everyone looks like they’re enjoying it.

  2015/1982 – Promo Video

  The Man [with Michael Jackson]

In 2015, Paul released some wonderful home movie footage of Paul, Linda and Michael outdoors in Sussex in 1981, with this song as a soundtrack. This is probably not really a proper promo video, but is still well worth seeking out.

  2015/1983 – Promo Video

Say Say Say (Remix) [with Michael Jackson]

This is a horrible remix that does nothing to improve the song, and the video features modern footage of street dancers with nothing of Paul and Michael.

20-12-16 – ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ (USA)

Wonderful Christmastime [with the cast of ‘Sing’]

This is a unique but short, almost acapella arrangement of Paul’s 1979 hit.

  00-06-18 – Promo Video

  Come On To Me

A good mid-tempo rocker with Paul in fine voice, though the video doesn’t feature him, with instead an amusing storyline of bored workers on a nightshift. The song is from ‘Egypt Station’, which got to No. 3 in the UK and topped the charts in the USA, a remarkable achievement for a guy in his mid ‘70s who’s been having hits for 56 years.
