“Mmmhmm. And with your hair cut short like that, it won’t frizz. You’ll look so pretty with the leaf crown on your head and the lei around your neck.”

“I’m going to look bald, you mean.”

“You didn’t cut it that short, Auntie,” Charlotte chimed in. “And it was short before, too.”

“Not quite this short,” Laurel insisted.

“You’ll be able to see you have hair, don’t worry,” her sister said, rolling her eyes. “I have to tell you, Tellan looks ripped in his. It’s a good thing you’re my sister.” She fanned herself dramatically.

  “Eww, Mum!” Charlotte looked disgusted.

“Child, I might be over thirty and married but I am definitely not dead.”

“He is a mighty fine looking man, even if he is an alien,” Laurel’s mum added.

  “So gross!”

  The three women laughed.

“Okay, help me put all this on, then,” Laurel said to her mother. She didn’t need the assistance, it was, after all, simply a cloth to wind round her torso and tie, with a bikini top to match. Still, she knew her mother wanted to help her prepare and this was an easy way to also prove she appreciated all her mother had done. All too soon, it was time.

“I can’t believe I’m so nervous. I mean, this is just a ceremonial thing, we’ve been living as husband and wife-” Laurel cut herself off as she saw Charlotte’s wide eyes upon her, drinking in every word. She took a deep breath to steady her nerves. “Right, let’s do this.”

“Good, because I don’t want to be the one to tell the press you cancelled the shindig,” her mother said. Just like that, the butterflies were back.

Shit, shit, shit. I’d managed to forget about them.

Her mother looked at her with concern. She nodded at her, letting her know she was fine. “Okay, I’m going to go take my seat then.”

The rest of the event followed in a haze. Cameras being thrust at her, boom mikes, it all looked like a film production set which she supposed it more or less was, only the teleplay was this event in her life and not a movie. She knew from having watched Princess Lorraine marry Benjamin, the then Prince of Wales, five years previously that none of the media circus would be visible to those watching at home.

The sand had been warm beneath her feet and once she laid eyes on Tellan, she forgot everyone else. She knew then that the soul mates thing was true, they were perfectly matched and this was a science fiction fairy tale come true. Even the luau afterwards was a blur of good food, firelight, and laughter.

Then, it was just them, in their room. The curtains were open and the sea filled the view, the soft light of the bedside lamps adding to the romantic ambience. She didn’t make a move to close the blinds. There was no point, it was already dark out and they were not overlooked and were high up enough that it was unlikely anyone could see in. Laurel took off her headdress and lei and carefully laid them upon the dresser, along with the floral bracelet she’d been given at the luau. She looked at her husband, resplendent in his Polynesian finery. His emotions were running high, his scales making an appearance. It was an otherworldly look and as he stood framed by the view beyond their window, it was easy to imagine he was some ancient deity. She glided across the soft carpet to him and laid her hand upon his sculpted chest.

Running her hand over his pec, she tilted her head back to look up into his face. “Have I told you how sexy you are, especially dressed like this?”

“You haven’t,” he replied, a teasing smile playing along his lips.

“Well, I’m thirsty and you are along, tall, cool drink of water. I need you to quench my appetite.” She knew she was being cheesy, but she didn’t care.

“If I am understanding your innuendo correctly, I do believe we are in the perfect place to sate your desires.”

“Indeed,” she said. He reached up to remove his own headdress. “No. Leave it on. You look like some primal Hawaiian sea dragon god or something like that.”

Delight coloured his features. He was only too happy to indulge her fantasy. His hands moved instead to her waist where he untied her sarong. Her own fingers nimbly reached back and untied her top, letting it join her sarong on the floor. He scooped her up, covering her mouth with his as she laid her upon the bed, carefully placing her head upon the pillows. Even now he treats me as if I’m some precious jewel.

“One of us is overdressed,” she teased.

He smirked and quickly undid his knot, the fabric sliding to the floor with a whisper. He knelt by the bed and pressed his lips to her ankle. Kissing his way up, he crawled up onto the bed, stopping when he came to the apex of her thighs. Her legs fell open, revealing her sex to him. She could feel the warmth of his breath ghosting across her folds. She gasped as she felt him press a kiss there, bucking her hips when she saw and felt the tip of his tongue dart out to tease the nub of her clit. He parted her lips to gain better access and began feasting. His tongue alternated between rubbing her engorged, sensitive nubbin and dipped down into her dripping slit. When he pressed a thumb down onto her clit and begin wiggling it gently while fucking her with his tongue in earnest, she lost it completely. Her legs rose up and clasped his head into place with her thighs in a vise grip, her ams flung out to her sides, her hands fingers grasping as if to hold onto the sensation she was chasing. Her head thrashed from side to side as incoherent pleases and yeses fell from her lips until at last, her vision whited out. She tilted her face towards the sky and came with a shout.

When she came to, her legs hand fallen back onto the bed. She felt drained but the sight of him, his face wet with her juices spurred her want. He licked his lips and wiped his chin on his arm.

  ****

Tellan saw the want spark within her gaze once more. He knew it, it was the twin to the fire that burned within him now. He knelt up, placing her ankles onto his shoulders before pressing the tip of his cock against her opening. “Tell me you want this,” he said, his voice hoarse. He was holding on, keeping himself back from becoming mindless with lust. Her eyes roved over his face, chest and arms before locking gazes with him once more. He knew what she saw. His third eyelid blinked. He was well within the changes of the display, his scales now glimmering in the soft lamplight, his talons peeking from his nail bed.

She nodded. It wasn’t enough. He wanted to hear hr utter her permission. “Say it,” he urged.

“Yes, I want it. Tellan, please.” At her words, his hips surged forward. She cried out in surprise as his girth slid into here welcoming folds, stretching her to capacity. He didn’t stop until his hips rested against the globes of her ass, his balls tantalising her as they brushed her electrified skin and the tip of his cock kissed the neck of her womb. He stilled, allowing her to adjust. When her features relaxed and she gave an experimental wiggle, he pulled out halfway before plunging back in. She gasped in pleasure and he began to move, alternating between long and short thrusts. She moved her hips, pushing them up to meet his thrusts. Soon, they had set a frantic pace and the room was filled with sound of harsh pants, pleas for more falling from her lips, and the sound of skin slapping skin.

“Fill me, she begged. Fill me with your cum. Breed me, give me your baby!” she babbled. Her words set him further aflame. He leaned forward, now bending her nearly in half and began to jackhammer his hips. “Yes, like that!” she gasped. “Ah!” her gasp trailed off as her head tilted back once more, her walls tightening about him in a vise grip as her juices drenched him anew. His spine tingled and he felt a churning within his balls. His hips stuttered and his movements became more erratic. Thrusting in one final time until he was as deep as he could go, he threw his head back and roared, feeling his hot seed flood her insides.

He collapsed onto the bed, careful to catch himself on his forearms so as to not crush her. He kissed her before rolling over to the side. “ Give me a moment to catch my breath and I’ll get us a cloth.”

She looked at him wryly. “Now that you’ve said that, I’ve realised I need
to get up anyways. To uh, use the loo.” She flushed as she spoke. “I might as well shower while I’m in there.” He nodded, laying his forearm over his eyes as she got up. He heard the toilet in their ensuite flush then the water come on to the shower. “Tellan?” he turned his head to look at her, moving his arm so he could see her. Laurel had the most adorable shy look on her face as she peeked around the bathroom door. “Want to join me?”

His cock twitched, liking that idea. He sat up and swung his legs over the side of the bed. He was at full mast by the time he got to the door to find she’d gotten in ahead of him. He admired the view through the steamed up glass before eyeing the size of the space. If they were careful, there was room for shower sex. He gave a feral grin and opened the shower door.

  Chapter Twenty

This was it, their last day on Earth. He looked over at his bride, saddened by the look of loss upon her face as they walked to their shuttle. She caught him watching her and gave him a wan smile. “Don’t mind me. I’m just being mopey. I know once we’re settled that we can have them over to visit every once in a while and maybe get to pop back here ourselves.”

He nodded as the entered their shuttle. By now, Laurel was an expert in the intricate buckle and strap system used in Mylos craft. He took his own seat and fastened himself in. By the time he was done, Laureen was already finished as well. “I’m so glad we managed to get my tea and coffee. You really think that once we get home, your scientists will be able to have sequenced the difference varieties of beans and leaves so I can just call them up in the replicator?”

He smiled. “Yes, it might take a few weeks, though, and if you wish, we can order more shipped to us. Part of the agreement includes imports and exports, not to mention the Fleet will have supply runs.”

She nodded and sniffed before turning her head away. He decided to distract her. “I was thinking the rattan dining room set we picked up would look great on a covered balcony. I don’t have one downstairs, but I do off of the master bedroom suite. If we put in a small outdoor kitchen like we had at the cabin we stayed in on Big Island, we could breakfast upstairs. It has a lovely view.”

Her expression brightened. “Now that is a really cool idea.”

“It would be a city view, but the air if free of pollution and we do not have traffic in the way you do.”

“Oh, is it a small balcony?”

“Not as such. There is more than enough room for an L-shaped galley on one end and the table and chairs on the other. There’s nothing above the balcony, so we’d have to look at putting in a canopy or roof of some kind.”

  “I love it!”

The pilot came in, his presence unheeded as the couple discussed tiling the balcony floor and painting the walls. Tellan’s heart thrilled. She’d called his place home even though she’d never been there and now, despite her sadness at leaving, she was planning on how to add her own stamp to their home. He knew it wouldn’t erase her longings for what had been her home, but it was a start. Only time and settling in could help heal that within her heart and no matter what, some part of her would always be nostalgic for her planet and human family.

As the ship made it to the Fleet, they heard the ping of a comm, the Fleet Commander wishing them well. “I would also like to inform you that the first match has occurred at one of the newly opened registries.”

“Really? Which one?” Laurel could barely contain her excitement.

“From a town in Germany, called Hanau.”

She frowned. “Oh, yeah! I remember. That’s the one where the local government had us liaise with the American Army so the shuttles would use their airfield to land.”

“That is correct. It was, in fact, an Army dependent, newly graduated from their educational facility there. She was applying for the scholarship. Eighteen year old Darcy Lorraine Yupert. That will be her mate going down now, that you see departing our shuttle bay.”

The walls of their own shuttle turned opaque and displayed the view. They watched as the shuttle entered Earth’s atmosphere.

“Please extend our deepest congratulations,”Tellan aid.

“I will indeed.” The communication cut and they increased speed. Laurel gasped as the view changed to reveal other planets in the solar system as they sped by. “Now opening the jump access portal, initiating jump drive,” the pilot announced. Laurel’s mind seized on that. She hadn’t given more than a vague thought as to how they actually flew the vast distances between their worlds.

“Oh, my God!” she cried out as time seemed to slow and a large glowing ring appeared. Her words came out distorted, as if being said under water. One moment they were there and the next, they weren’t. The glow was gone and the heavy feeling she’d not noticed until it was gone , disappeared.

“Spinning down the drive,” the pilot announced as if nothing incredible had just happened.

I suppose by his standards, they haven’t.

“Are we there?” she asked tellan.

“No, we'll be at the halfway point. “

The sound of another comm hail. This time, she couldn’t understand what was being said. She looked at Tellan for an explanation. “It’s Midway Station Echo verifying our transponder identification. We’ll be stopping there to get your translation chip and to board a commercial cruiser home.”

  “We’re not taking this one?”

“No, this is a diplomatic ship and since I am not longer officially on diplomatic duty, it has been reassigned. There is another diplomat waiting for a ride elsewhere.”

  “Oh. A cruise liner, huh?”

“Yes, think more like one of your airplanes used for commercial travel rather than vacation vessel that plies your waterways.”

  “Is it a long flight?”

“About five hours or so. There will be a meal and inflight entertainment. A Kalarvian plorian band, I believe. Plorian is more like your jazz, if I had to compare them. We’ll fly out after your implant settles, so we’ll leave tomorrow. I booked us a room.”

Just wait til the family hears about this. I traveled through a freaking wormhole, exited by a space station, am about to get a universal translator thing implanted, and then board an intergalactic luxury liner playing Cantina Band music. The kids will never believe it.

  Chapter Twenty-One

“Could I interest you in a Loravian moonstone charm? You can put it on a charm bracelet or wear it as a pendant. Guaranteed to to earn you a Mylos match!” Laurel turned towards the speaker, a small orange skinned female with what looked like three enormous but flaccid tentacles in place of hair. They reached from where her eyebrows would be in a human and the bases of them covered the top of her scalp area. They hung down her back and over her shoulders. Laurel noticed the alien didn’t have external ear either, instead she had three small holes where they would be. The female was offering her wares to a tall thing beauty who looked rather like an elf. She was tall, willowy, and possessing an otherworldly beauty with eyes that were solid green orbs, no white or dark pupils visible. Her delicately pointed ears that set off her too angular to be human face.

Tellan tugged at her. “Pay no mind to the corridor hawkers. They operate here without a license. Things have really gone downhill ever since the Council decided to privatise these stations and let the Yorbils handle the contract. They are infamous for turning a blind eye to small fraudsters such as this.”

“But why was she guaranteeing a match with your kind?”

“It seems to be a prestige thing among certain circles,” he admitted. “Since a match is ultra-rare, it’s become seen as akin to finding a prince out of a fairytale.” He shook his head in chagrin. “This means many apply for the wrong reasons and have a harder time adjusting to reality when they have to settle into their married life, doing everyday things.”

“I can see where it would.”

“Yes, and it rather cheapens the whole thing when others try to take advantage of hopefuls!”

“Is there nothing that can be done?”
<
br />   Tellan shook his head. “Even if I had recorded the events just now using my kunnarskyn and had it pull station security footage of it, it would go through station security first. Who likely would simply advise the peddler to lay low and only after accepting a so-called fine. She’d back out there once they knew we were off station and they verified our travel arrangements did not bring us back any time soon.”

“So, they take a bribe, basically.” I guess somethings don’t change.

He paled. “Don’t use that term here where someone might hear you.” He lowered his voice. “The Yorbils take slights to their honour quite personally. It won’t matter if you speak the truth.”

  She clamped her mouth shut.

“Aha, here we are, this is the clinic. Let’s go in and get you sorted, shall we?”

She nodded and followed him inside. A Mylos male wearing a uniform similar to the ones she’d seen officers of the Fleet wear looked up from where he sat as they entered. He tapped the console one last time and stood up.

  “Ah, Sai Tellan, myploshpyt canhjourtl?”

  “Kopporthyl fyrt harklmo, Laurel.”

She looked around the clinic’s small room as Tellan conversed in his native tongue, trusting him to get what they needed across. There were two beds and a a panel that appeared to hold some kind of diagnostic equipment, if she had to hazard a guess. A cabinet with a small sink and a set of drawers stood between the two beds. She smiled. She supposed some things were universal.

“Laurel?” Tellan touched her elbow to gain her attention. “Dr. Horskuy would like you to take a seat.” He gestured to the nearest exam table. She hopped up and the doctor gave her an encouraging smile.

“`He’s going to give you a quick look over first, nothing to worry about. He’s required to ascertain you are in optimum health before implanting the chip,” Tellan explained.

“Makes sense,” she replied, smiling at the doctor to show him she trusted him fully.
