Vala was smiling proudly. “I think I can find the time to tutor you, if you want.”
“Thanks,” Sam said. “Escher is going to sort through the information. Landry has already approved a mission when he finds an address that seems promising.”
“Can’t wait.”
“Well, it’ll be at least a week before he has anything usable. In the meantime, why don’t you trade this reservoir for an actual lake? I’ll take you out, show you around. Earth is so much more than a drab military base.”
Vala bounced on the balls of her feet. “Really? Because I’ve heard of something called a ‘mall,’ and it sounds positively delightful.”
Sam nodded. “Sure, I’ll take you to the mall. We’ll get pedicures, we’ll make a whole day of it. I might even take you to Victoria’s Secret.”
“Who is Victoria?”
“That’s the secret,” Sam whispered, pushing off the railing and walking back to the door.
Vala grinned and pursued her.
