The Fifth Survivor - Episode 2 Page 4

by Angel Ramon

  Condition: Caution (Level 2)

After pushing it away, he runs and grabs a butcher’s knife. Before he can go attack the zombie, he feels that something is behind him. Turning around quickly, he sees that there is a zombie behind him ready to bite him.

“Where the hell did you come from?” He shouts while stabbing the zombie in the head.

The zombie goes down and George continues to thrust the knife into the zombie’s head until it dies. The zombie by the door moves slowly towards him. Taking no chances, he pulls out his pistol and lands two headshots. The zombie falls on the ground and dies to George’s relief.

  Pistol Ammo: 14

“Whew! I’ve only been in this place... for ten minutes and it’s already become a hell hole. I wonder why Hybrid and the NYPD... left this place to rot without cleaning up... the zombies. Something tells me... there is something big in this place.” He says catching his breath.

Getting up from the floor, he walks to the back once again and sees the body that was there is no longer lying there. That suggests that the human was already infected and had just transformed into the undead.

Leaving the kitchen, he walks up the stairs and ends up back in the dark hallway. Instead of heading back to the dining room, he continues forward to see what’s ahead. He sees a small reading nook along with a dead body next to a bookshelf.

George looks at the body and sees that its abdomen has been torn apart. He also sees a pistol magazine that he picks up.

Picked up a Pistol Magazine. +8 Pistol Ammo

  Pistol Ammo: 22

He also sees the dead guard holding a book. Opening the book, he sees the book is titled “The Last Days of Life”.

“Eww… that’s a creepy title for a book.” He says as he looks at the book.

When he tilts the book just a bit, he sees a note falling out of the book. He picks it up and begins to pick it up.

  June 2nd, 2007

“It’s all over Linda… I’m sorry that I failed to return to you. I hope that doesn’t make me a bad husband. I just had no idea that Hybrid was running crazy experiments in this mansion. These monsters were creating freaks of nature. All of this taking place in the city that never sleeps, under everyone’s nose.

I want to escape and tell the police, but I fear that there is no way out of this hell hole. It seems the freaks of nature have escaped their cages and begun to wreak havoc in this mansion. My time in this world is getting shorter and shorter. I should have known something was funny when I found out that the laboratory was right under my sleeping quarters.

The Clark Family has gotten wiser and they changed the locks just to make it that much harder to escape. I lost Moe today… I believe that he was eaten by the cannibals that were created by the Raven Hawk Virus. My God, what have I done? I’m just as guilty for helping in the creation of the Raven Hawk virus. Now that I remember… I was injected with something last month. The doctor claimed it was a special vaccine to protect me.

Strange things began to happen to me though. I began to have more stomach pains. I’ve been spitting out darker colored blood for no reason. I believe I might be infected with the Raven Hawk Virus. No! These monsters have infected me, it makes perfect sense. Now I know why I was hired to work in the mansion. I wasn’t hired to be a researcher. No, I was hired to be nothing but a glorified guinea pig for Hybrid’s sick experiments. This can’t be how my life ends, but yet like my father told me, I don’t choose how my life ends.

Dear Linda, your husband will soon be nothing more than just a zombie. If you ever find this note and find me still walking around, do me a favor. Just take me out of my misery and shoot a bullet through my head. I would rather be dead than a zombie having to live off eating other humans.

  June 3rd, 2007

I’m just waiting for the inevitable. After all, it’s only a matter of time before I turned into a zombie at the hands of the Hybrid Corporation. They did a good job conning me into this job. They were just too ‘convincing’ for my weak mind. I notice my veins are beginning to turn real purple and I know that means I’m infected.

Time is running out for me and I will soon be a zombie loser ready to bottom feed off others. Who would have thought that I would end up all the way in the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the food chain? I’ve turned into the ultimate loser… I’ve turned into a bottom feeder. Linda, I love you. Goodbye…

(The rest of the note is missing)

After reading the note, George feels remorseful for the poor man and the false promises that Hybrid had laid on him. Another thing he notices is that the top of the note he read has a rip on the left side. He believes that this part might have been ripped off a journal and hidden in the book for some odd reason.

One thing that he knows for sure is that there is a secret facility under the mansion. In one sense, George is encouraged that he will find some really good dirt. In another sense though, he’s worried that the path will be dangerous and there’s a chance he might not make it out alive. All he’s worried about now is trying to find a healing item to cure his wounds.

Looking to his left, he sees a wooden door that he tries to open but is unable to. This door has a picture of a queen of diamonds next to the doorknob. The only key he has is one with a jack on it.

“God damn it! This place is huge, I gotta find a map. What have I gotten myself into? Nevertheless, I need to avenge Dave and make sure Hybrid doesn’t get away with what they’re doing.” George says to himself.

Will you survive the zombie horror experience? Only the strong survive. Are you strong enough, vigilante George?

  Chapter 5

After bumping into another dead end, George decides to go back to the dining room. Entering the dining room, he sees the bookcase moving slightly as the zombies are trying to knock it down. The noise of the knocking is enough to unnerve George and he runs to the door that is on the other side of the room.

Opening the double doors, he finds himself in the main hall of the mansion. Looking around he sees some red carpet on the floor leading up to the stairs for the second floor. He hears knocking on the front door and the sounds of zombies moaning. Looking through the small side windows, he can see the zombies by the front door. The bare sight of zombies is enough to cause George to cross off the front door as an escape route.

“The irony of it all. I’m in the right place to gain dirt on Hybrid, yet I’m looking for a way out as well. I’ll be damned, now there is really no turning back.” George says in his head.

Realizing that he has to explore the lion’s den like it or not, George decides to explore floor by floor. Staying on the first floor, he sees a couple of doors in front of him. Focusing on the small door to the left of the double doors, he opens it and sees it’s locked. He does spot a small picture of a jack of clubs on the door. Using the key with the jack on it, he unlocks the door and enters.

He finds himself in an art room full of art including pictures from Michelangelo, Van Gogh, and other well-known painters. While there are a few artifacts from medieval Croatia, most of the art room is filled with paintings.

Looking around the room, he sees a desk that is locked. However, he’s able to unlock it easily with his lockpick. He finds a jar inside.

Lockpicking Level Increased to Level 7!

Picked up a jar of Gunpowder A. This is a jar of gunpowder, but George cannot be too sure what it turns into or how to convert it.

“This might come in handy, but I was hoping for an herb to cure my wounds. Well, I gotta take what I find.” He says to himself.

Looking around in the room, he sees nothing else useful besides art that is useless to his survival. There is a door to the back that he heads through. George is inside the storage room. Inside, he finds a couple of zombies. One is walking towards him and is lying down not moving. Calming down, he uses his pistol to shoot the zombie standing up in the head until it goes down.

  Pistol Ammo: 19

After killing the first zombie, he igno
res the zombie lying down and begins to explore the room. As he explores the room, he sees something on the floor.

Picked up a Red Herb. Useless by itself, but if mixed with a Green Herb, it can create a super herb.

While the red herb is great, it’s useless to George for now to his disappointment. He sees a door in front of him that he walks to until he feels something grabbing his left leg from behind. Turning around, he finds that the zombie that was lying down is trying to bite his leg.

He quickly stomps the head of the zombie with his right foot. The zombie begins to bleed profusely out of its head. The smell of the blood is rather rancid but not as bad as the spiders back in the hospital. He turns around and tries to open the door. However, the door is locked and doesn’t open when he tries to use his lockpick.

  Level 8 Lockpicking Skill Required.

There is nothing else in the room besides old sofas and seasonal items along with the mustard colored walls, so he turns back and exits the art room. Back in the hallway, he notices the craftsmanship of the wooden banisters and walls. He estimates that this mansion was built during the early 1900s based on the construction material used.

George enters through the double doors and finds himself in another room surrounded by pictures. The walls are dark brown and the only source of light is the LED lights shining on top of each picture. There is a statue of a woman carrying a piece of paper rolled up. He has no idea who it might be until he reads the inscription.

“Elaine Clark, first lady of the Clark Family and the future Hybrid Corporation. Circa - 1905.”

“Wow, looks like the history of this foul company goes all the way back to my ancestors.” He says to himself.

Looking up at the statue, he sees the paper she’s holding is actually made out of real paper. He’s unable to reach the roll, but wants to grab it knowing it might be a map. He spots a small draw that he’s able to pull and push towards the statue. Once he pushes the draw next to the statue, he climbs on top of the draw carefully hoping his weight doesn’t crack the draw.

When he’s on top of the draw, George is able to reach the roll of paper and grab it. When he grabs it, he opens it and looks at it.

You have found a map. This gives you an overview of the Clark Family mansion.

As he reads the map, he sees the mansion is rather big and that doesn’t even count the secret basement laboratory suggested by the note he read. He stays with the idea of exploring the 1st floor unless he’s forced to move to the second floor.

“I’m surprised my fat self didn’t crack that draw. Must be George proof.” He says to himself.

Pulling the draw, he sees a small opening that he walks into with even more paintings and a mirror. As he continues to walk, he sees the end of the path with a pickup that he finds.

Picked up a figurine. Looking at it carefully, he sees that it is a small clay figure of Peruses who was a Greek Hero.

It might not be useful for practical reasons, but he keeps it knowing it might be a key to opening a secret passage. Putting the figurine in his pocket, he hears a door opening. He’s not sure what it could be, so he carefully walks back. When he approaches the statue, he is surprised by a zombie who tries to grab him.

He’s able to back away but slips and falls as he walks back. Quickly arming himself with the pistol, he shoots five shots before the zombie goes down. The zombie falls right in front of him with its head next to his leg. George quickly gets up and shoots another round just to be sure after reloading another magazine into his gun.

  Pistol Ammo: 13

Running low on ammo, he knows he’ll have to find bullets quickly. Not to mention that he’s still wounded from the bites he took before. Returning to the room with the statue, he sees a door that is locked with a picture of a jack of spades. Using the jack key, he unlocks the door and enters a hallway with peach colored wallpaper with designs of medieval Croatia.

This hallway is well lit and looks like everything is still intact. Walking carefully, he sees a draw that is locked and he unlocks with the lockpick. Looking inside he finds another jar.

Picked up a jar of Gunpowder A.

While he’s finding gunpowder, George becomes flustered that he’s unable to find actual bullets as gunpowder is useless without converting it. Also, he has no experience crafting ammo. Nevertheless, as he said, he’ll have to do with what he finds.

Walking down the hallway, he hears a loud boom. Looking outside, he sees a lightning bolt in the distance and figures it’s only thunder. Turning the corner, he sees the windows break and zombies from the outside breaking into the hallway. Three zombies drop into the hallway from outside.

George realizes he doesn’t have enough bullets to kill them all. He does kill the first zombie easily with three headshots and tries to shoot the second one with two shots before he’s forced to reload. The zombies begin to rush him and he sees he has no time to reload his weapon.

  Pistol Ammo: 8

Running away from the zombies, he sees the draw that he opened and feels the wood type is weak. He realizes that he can break the wood if he strikes it hard enough. George flips the draw and breaks one of the legs. The pointy edge of the leg should work as a wooden stake.

With his improvised wooden stake, he charges at one of the zombies and stabs it in the head repeatedly until it bleeds out of the side of its neck. Unable to pay attention, the third zombie grabs him from his left side and bites him on his left arm dealing decent damage. George is able to break out of the grab after stabbing the zombie in the neck killing it instantly.

  Condition: Danger

“I might be old, but it looks like I can still kick butt with the rest of the young bucks.” He says favoring his arm.

He barely survives the ambush and spots another locked draw that he tries to unlock. His injuries make it tough for him to concentrate on the lock. Fighting through his wounds, he is able to unlock the desk and finds something a bit useful inside.

Picked up a Pistol Magazine. +8 Pistol Ammo.

  Pistol Ammo: 16

With the extra magazine he found, he reloads his pistol. Looking ahead, he sees a wooden door that he slowly walks into. George has trouble thinking as he’s injured badly and can only think about healing. He walks into a hallway with green wallpaper that is so tacky that it gives a feeling of a house stuck in the ‘70s or ‘80s. There is an iron door to his right that he finds locked. The lock looks simple enough, but he is unable to pick it.

  Level 9 Lockpicking Skill Required.

He walks carefully knowing that he can ill afford to be ambushed again. There is a metal door he sees when he turns the corner. Opening the door, he enters a bathroom with a female that has been decapitated inside the bathtub. The only thing he pays attention is what he finds on top of the sink.

Picked up a Green Herb. Heals partial health.

George mixes the Green and Red Herbs to create a Super Herb.

  George uses the Super Herb.

  Condition: Fine

After applying water to the herbal mixture, he rubs it over his wounds and begins to feel much better. He sits down letting the herbs heal his wounds the best he can. Nothing else is found in the bathroom.

“Poor lady, what a lousy way to die…” He says.

When he leaves the bathroom, George walks through the tacky hallway only to be surprised by a couple of rabid dogs that jump through the windows. He shoots the first dog easily with two pistol shots.

  Pistol Ammo: 14

The other dog tries to jump onto him, but he dives away from it. As he gets up, the dog charges and tries to attack again. This time, he waits for it to get closer and performs a roundhouse kick right in the kisser, killing it right away.

“Next time pick on a man who’s not that old.” He says humorously.

Gathering himself, George continues to walk through the hallway when he sees a couple of doors. There is one to his left and a set of double doors ahead of him. He enters the door to his left and finds himself in
a study.

The study has a nice cherry wood stain finish for its walls, bookshelves that are well taken care of, and a nice cedar wood table along with a leather sofa. George can tell that the Clarks were avid hunters by the number of animal heads displayed as trophies.

He spots a jar on the table.

Picked up a jar of Gunpowder B. Another type of gunpowder, wonder that this turns into?

Looking under the under there is a note that he grabs to read.

  The Will

“Matthew who is my father always liked Anthony over me. Yet, I Herman Clark was always the more active person in the company. I took care of everything behind the scenes and helped Hybrid become the juggernaut that it is today.

Funny thing is one of my friends told me that hard work means jack shit if the people you work with despise you and willing to screw you. I always thought my friend was wrong and never thought that my family would stoop to such low lengths to screw me over. I really thought he was wrong, but alas he wasn’t.

I just found out that bastard Matthew, who was my father left most of his estates and money to that good for nothing bastard, Anthony. I’ll be damned! My father did leave me money and an estate, but I deserve more knowing that I did most of the work. I’m the one who put the Raven Hawk Virus on the map. I’m the one who built the idea of using these creations to take over war zones along with the genetic engineering market.

Yes, Anthony is taking credit for bringing the Raven Hawk Virus and is going nuts creating the Broken Arrow virus. There is no way and I mean no way that I’m letting my little brother take credit for my idea, oh no! I’ve already talked to Chief Irons and he’ll let me know when Anthony arrives in NY along with the progress of the new Broken Arrow Virus. Raven Hawk is already a failure as I’ve seen, but of course, nobody seems to listen to me.

Once I find out the progress of the Broken Arrow virus, I’ll grab a sample. I’ll get it one way or another. Even if it means I have to grab it with force, I will. Even if means I might have to put my brother out of his misery, I will. Sorry, Anthony, but this is what happens when you try to screw your big brother. As for your Matthew, I’m glad your ass is six feet under and I’m glad Anthony was unable to bring you back to life.
