It was Herbert who thought of the answer;
Titch must hear Puscus singing a song
When he wasn’t feeling as grumpy
And not been without sleep for so long.
They waited until after they’d eaten,
Were relaxed and in a good mood,
Then requested a song from Puscus
To bring to an end the feud.
When the cat sang out his sweetest;
The big bear’s face was a beam
“I’m sorry I have a quick temper,
I’m not really as bad as I seem!”
Tuppy’s Treat
The three bears, Squiggle and Tuppy
Played happily day after day
But the new friends were unhappy
That the small bears long couldn’t stay
They had to return to their parents
But promised they’d come back again
As soon as the holidays started,
They’d catch the very first train.
Their last day drew nearer and nearer
Off Squiggle’s nose dropped a big tear
So Tuppy decided he’d better
Try make all their blues disappear.
He’d take them on an adventure
Though the grownups might not understand
So it would have to be kept a secret
Otherwise it might well be banned.
They all got up early that morning
And set off as if out to play
But soon from the garden they wandered;
Before long they were off on their way
The small bears were very excited
And Squiggle was squeaking so loud
That Tuppy called out, “Do be quiet!”
That noise will bring out a crowd.”
The others they walked on in silence
Said Tuppy, “Oh, don’t make a fuss
You’ll enjoy where we’re going; it’s special,
Complete with a big octopus!”
Marine-Land had only just opened
When the friends arrived at the place
When the puppy took out five tickets,
They others all laughed, “This is ace!”
“But Tuppy where did you get them?”
Squiggle said, “those tickets aren’t cheap.”
“What you don’t know can’t hurt you,” said Tuppy
It’s a secret that I mean to keep.”
The aquarium was so fascinating
Crammed full of things maritime
The octopus was all of their favourites.
They’d enjoyed such a wonderful time.
Mystery Solved
They arrived home from their day out
But ran straight into trouble.
Everyone thought they’d gone missing
Burst was their happy bubble.
Tuppy stepped forward to tell them
He’d persuaded the others to come
And he also bought them the tickets
He had wanted to be a good chum
Nelliphant’s face grew anxious,
Tuppy stopped wagging his tail
“So where did you get the money?”
Asked Nelliphant, looking quite pale.
Titch McHaggis felt very sorry,
For the mischievous little pup
It was he who’d paid him the wages
For digging his garden weeds up.
He hadn’t wanted to tell them
After the way he’d behaved in the past
And he’d asked that the pup keep it secret
Said Puscus, “Well, I’m flabbergast!”
Who Named the Three Bears?
Before the young bears had departed
The Fluff Gang wanted to know;
Who had given them their strange names?
Titch grinned, and laughed, “Ho, ho, ho.
I’m afraid that that was my fault;
It’s how they look don’t you see.,
Hamish, for instance, looks Scottish,
With his scarf of bright tartan, like me.
Young Irish, it’s obvious surely,
How many like him have you seen
Not one more, that I’ll wager,
With a coat as brilliant a green.
As for Bandit, well I ask you,
There’s nothing more really to say,
His coat may be yellow and golden
But that black mask’s a dead give away!”
Story’s End
The small bears returned to their parents
Their visit had come to an end
Still the Fluff Gang were all delighted
Their new neighbour was now a good friend.
