Within the prison of black ember, there was a separate standalone world.

Blue-black embers were prancing about within this world. By intertwining with each other, they seemed to form chain-like flames.

Numerous chains coalesced together at the center, where one person was being imprisoned at. He was currently bounded, unable to move even an inch.

Yan Zhaoge coldly stared at him.

He lifted his head, showing his pale face.

  He was Chen Qianhua.

Chen Qianhua looked at Yan Zhaoge. While his aura was weak, he still smiled and asked, “You’re here?”

“The Earth Devil’s aura seemed to have weakened just now. What happened? Did he die?”

He shook his head, “The Earth Devil’s cultivation is too high, and I’m unable to predict his future movements. Now that I’m being imprisoned, I can’t cast the Origin Heavenly Scripture anymore, making his future movements even more unclear.”

Chen Qianhua couldn’t tell the Earth Devil’s future due to their disparity in cultivation. As such, he didn’t mind it all that much.

If Chen Qianhua’s cultivation could increase, many things wouldn’t be a secret anymore.

In contrast, he was much more interested in people like Yan Zhaoge, Yan Di, and Nie Jingshen.

“Such a pity. If that mother-son duo turned into Devils, how would you deal with them?” said Chen Qianhua with a sigh.

Yan Zhaoge’s cold stare suddenly turned into a smile.

Chen Qianhua’s vision blurred. Soon after, Yan Zhaoge was already right in front of him.

A long brilliance extended from his finger, forming the shape of a dagger. Yan Zhaoge waved his finger and started slicing on Chen Qianhua’s body.

Then, the second slice, the third slice…

“Are you trying to slice me tens of thousands of times?” Although Chen Qianhua was in immense pain, he still kept his indifferent expression, “I’ve experimented it myself. It’s nothing much.”

Yan Zhaoge didn’t answer him. He merely continued slicing his body.

Very quickly, wounds covered Chen Qianhua’s entire body. He was already on the brink of death.

  “You’re furious?

  Haha…

  ” Chen Qianhua smiled weakly.

However, at the very next moment, he couldn’t smile any longer.

Because he realized that all his previous wounds had disappeared as if they were merely an illusion.

Then, Yan Zhaoge continued slicing him once again, with his same expressionless face.

  Chen Qianhua’s eyes widened.

This slice was precisely the same as the very first slice. No matter if it’s the sliced location, the degree of slicing, the strength used, the length, or the depth, they were all the same!

  “What are you doing?!”

Chen Qianhua, someone who didn’t seem to care about anything, suddenly yelled.

Yan Zhaoge calmly said, “Why are you in such a rush? This is merely the beginning.”

The blade made out of brilliance sliced down once again, causing blood to splatter.

Chen Qianhua stared closely at his wound.

Similarly, the second slice was exactly the same as the previous one.

Then came the third slice, the fourth slice…

The slicing method perfectly resembled the previous round.

Chen Qianhua knew where Yan Zhaoge would slice, how deep it would be, and how long the wound would be. In fact, he even knew that when Yan Zhaoge pulled his knife, he would shake his wrist a few times.

Every consecutive slice was being reenacted as if he was going through a cycle of samsara.

After everything ended, Chen Qianhua’s flesh was muddled with blood, and his mind went blank for a moment.

His wounds disappeared once again. Meanwhile, Yan Zhaoge’s fingertips manifested a brilliance once again as he calmly stood in front of him.

  Then, the third round began…

  As if it wouldn’t end.

  “Yan Zhaoge!” Chen Qianhua shrieked.

“Yes?” Yan Zhaoge calmly replied to him. Then, another slice was inflicted on Chen Qianhua’s body.

It was exactly the same as Chen Qianhua remembered.

Only, this time, Yan Zhaoge wasn’t the one doing it. A brilliance hovering by mid-air was moving on its own.

The sequence of its slashes and its tracks were precisely the same as the previous cycles.

As such, a new cycle had started.

“Of course, I wouldn’t have the time to play with you.” Yan Zhaoge said calmly, “But, relax. I used the Aeon Light Heavenly Scripture, the Immortal Trapping Sword, the Hill Light Flying Immortal Scripture, and other martial arts to create this situation.”

“You should’ve sensed it as well that this isn’t an illusion at all. Instead, time is constantly resetting itself.”

Yan Zhaoge looked at Chen Qianhua and coldly said, “Within this confined space, creating a short moment of relapse isn’t all that hard, especially when using it against someone like you, one whose cultivation is in ruins.”

“Otherwise, since you’re already so weak, your life might just be gone from the loss of blood.”

Another wound appeared on Chen Qianhua’s body, causing him to groan in pain.

“I’m aware of how unfearful you are towards death. You don’t even mind it as well. But, believe me. In this world, there are many things much more frightening than death itself.”

Yan Zhaoge chuckled softly, “To a fanatic like you, maybe this would be a fresh amusement?”

Rather than agony, Chen Qianhua was currently filled with anxiousness.

“Is it amusing now?” The smile on Yan Zhaoge’s face disappeared, “I’m only wasting my time on bantering for now. Later on, you shall slowly enjoy your brand new amusement.”

Chen Qianhua gritted his teeth and twisted his body about, struggling to break free. However, he was rendered completely powerless and was unable to do so.

“I’ve thought of many ways to deal with a scum like you.” Yan Zhaoge slowly said, “For example, I planned to create a garderobe [1] and seal you at the bottom. Then, you shall bask in others’ excretions day and night.”

“But, later on, I felt it was inappropriate. After all, if different people were to do so, you’d find it amusing as well, right? That’s inappropriate, really inappropriate. Rather than entrapping you, wouldn’t I be taking care of your humorous needs as well?”

“But, what if you repeatedly become one’s private garderobe? Being in a constant loop of time, with each shape, size, and speed all being the same?”

Yan Zhaoge smiled and looked at Chen Qianhua, “This method, and the one you’re undergoing now. Which do you prefer?”

While he was smiling, Yan Zhaoge’s gaze was ice-cold, with no hints of laughter emitting from within. His gaze was so jarring, a tinge of pain stung through his body.

“There’s another way.” Yan Zhaoge’s ice-cold tone remained, “By sealing your body and preventing any movements at all. Then, I shall pluck your eyes and tongue out, but allow your sense of touch, hearing, and smell to remain.”

“Of course, there’s no need to worry too much. The place you’ll be confined in won’t have any voice nor smell.”

“You just have to remain in that environment until the end of time.” Yan Zhaoge lowered his head once again, staring at Chen Qianhua, “Since you enjoy playing and guessing so much, how about you guess this? How long can you withstand living in such an environment before you finally get tired of it?”

Chen Qianhua shut his eyes, ignoring Yan Zhaoge’s question. His body was trembling slightly as if he was forcefully enduring something. His anxiousness was already written all over his face.

Yan Zhaoge calmly looked at him. Then, he tilted his head forward, “See? I’m still a humane person. Ultimately, I still granted you several choices to choose from. Being bestowed wi
th so many methods of entertainment, shouldn’t you thank me? Where are your basic manners of courtesies?”

“You, you’re angry!” Chen Qianhua twitched the corner of his mouth with difficulty, as if he was smiling, “The reason why you’re so angry is that I spoiled your plan, yet you’re powerless to do anything. Am I right?”

He struggled to look up at Yan Zhaoge, “I’ve always felt a sense of pity. You’re someone so interesting, yet like most people, your emotions would be stirred up from mortal affairs.”

Chen Qianhua smiled, “Now, you’re only torturing me because of your anger and helplessness from these affairs…”

Yan Zhaoge, who was looking at him, suddenly burst with laughter.

The blade of brilliance continued slicing on Chen Qianhua.

  Very quickly, another cycle continued.

Chen Qianhua was gasping for air like an enslaved animal.

However, he still used all his strength and lifted his head to look at Yan Zhaoge.

“Stop feeling so good about yourself.” Yan Zhaoge laughed and shook his head, “If I were truly enraged to the point of no return, you would’ve been killed by my slap alone.”

He glanced at Chen Qianhua contemptuously, “You don’t care about death? So what? What does that have to do with me?

“As long as I’m satisfied with killing you instantly, who cares how you would feel?”

Yan Zhaoge spread out his hands, “If I’m worried about other matters, would I have the leisure to think up methods of torturing you?”

Chen Qianhua groaned, and blood started spewing out from him once again.

He already knew every single detail of each cut. Yet, the process just continued on and on. It raised his anxiousness to the maximum, on the verge of going out of control.

This cycle of nightmare continued on and on, with no end to be seen.

However, a new question sprouted in his mind. He forced himself to ask, “The Earth Devil had perished after his revival. However, can you revive the dead?”

“Do you want to know what happened? Do you want to know how I’m settling this problem?” Yan Zhaoge lowered his head to look at Chen Qianhua.

The two looked at each other while Yan Zhaoge continued to remain silent.

Meanwhile, Chen Qianhua was still undergoing the cycle of agony. He gritted his teeth and withstood the pain.

After a long moment of pause, Yan Zhaoge finally smiled and said word by word.

  “I, won’t, tell, you.”

Then, he turned around and left. Without stopping his advancement, he disappeared without a trace.

While Chen Qianhua had expected such an outcome, he still decided to ask that question.

He attempted to find a way of diverting his attention, which would soothe his anxiousness.

His anxiousness wouldn’t stop accumulating at all. Ultimately, it upgraded into agony.

“Yan! Zhao! Ge!” Chen Qianhua let out a pained yet furious growl!

All the slothfulness of the past ceased to exist any longer. Even his patience of persisting was fully depleted.

In this prison made of black embers, furious roars that resembled a beast continued resounding from within.

The only thing that answered him was the blade of brilliance.

They came descending once again in a patient manner, without faltering or shaking.

  Again and again.

Yan Zhaoge jumped out from the black ember prison and flipped his palm over, arousing flames from his surroundings.

His finger volleyed in the air, leaving behind traces of light streams which remained by the void for a long time.

The streams of lights then formed another cage, surrounding the dark ember within, and proceeded to seal it.

  “How’s it?” asked Feng Yunsheng.

Yan Zhaoge said, “That scoundrel shall forget living a good life any longer.”

He never lost his cool due to his rage. He had already planned his future actions.

However, rage still filled Yan Zhaoge’s entire heart.

Even before this, he had always been searching for a way of troubling Chen Qianhua. Now that the problem maker fell into his hands, how could Yan Zhaoge let him go so easily?

“I’ll let him regret being born.” Yan Zhaoge’s gaze turned gloomy.

“He deserves it.” Feng Yunsheng nodded.

When she just arrived, she still wasn’t aware of the situation by Shi Jun’s side. As such, she first went ahead to capture Chen Qianhua.

As the Encompassing Abyssal Absolute Annihilation’s ruthless blade intent attacked, it obliterated all sorts of dao. Chen Qianhua’s cultivation was destroyed by her, with all his understanding and proficiencies towards martial arts being disposed of mercilessly.

Then, she preserved Chen Qianhua’s life. However, she merely planned to pass him to Yan Zhaoge.

While she didn’t know how Yan Zhaoge would deal with him, Feng Yunsheng would only say that he deserved it.

She was more concerned about something else, “Can we save senior apprentice-brother Xu?”

“If I’m not wrong, we should still have hope,” said Yan Zhaoge solemnly.

Feng Yunsheng asked worriedly, “He swallowed the Earth Splitting Pearl and activated the Anti-Devil Countering Rune to kill the Earth Devil. However, even if you used the Later Earth Text, senior apprentice-brother Xu doesn’t have a Yin Yang Earthly Spirit physique.”

“While the Earth Splitting Pearl contains earthly spiritual qi, it also greatly counters it. As a result, huge destruction would occur within his body.”

Others might not know what Yan Zhaoge was planning to do.

However, upon hearing Yan Zhaoge’s destination – the Blessed Lands of the White Lotus, she immediately understood his intentions.

Yan Zhaoge’s hope was all on the Great Sage Equalling Heavens – Sun Wukong, who was being suppressed by the Obscured Way World’s Five Elements Mountains!

In the past, he mentioned that he coveted those of the Monkey Race or those possessing the Yin Yang Earthly Spirit to inherit his Golden Body, which would then allow him to break free from his restraints.

Upon hearing the location Yan Zhaoge intended to go to, Feng Yunsheng immediately understood what he was thinking.

  However, she was still hesitant.

Xu Fei had swallowed the Earth Splitting Pearl to eliminate the Earth Devil. He didn’t possess the Yin Yang Earthly Spirit.

Even with the Later Earth Text, he still didn’t.

Otherwise, she would have immediately thought of such a method as well.

Previously, upon Yan Zhaoge’s behest, Feng Yunsheng immediately started her journey without saying anything else. However, she was still uncertain of whether this method would work. As such, she decided to ask Yan Zhaoge while continuing her journey forward.

“Indeed, it wouldn’t work solely because of that.” With Feng Yunsheng bringing him along, Yan Zhaoge didn’t have to waste any energy to travel.

He took out the stone statue formed by Xu Fei’s body. He carefully examined the cinereous-green statue and finally used his finger to leave a trace behind the statue.

An ancient yet profound talisman pattern appeared by the back of the statue.

Then, Yan Zhaoge extended his hand and pressed it onto the Later Earth Text.

Faint lusters emitted from the Later Earth Text, which then started nourishing the statue.

“What’s this talisman?” Feng Yunsheng looked with a face filled with curiosity, “It looks very ancient…”

Yan Zhaoge nodded, “It was created during the Early Heavens and had been passed down for many years. After the Ancient era, it was kept by the Heavenly Court’s Divine Palace. Later, due to the Great Calamity, it was finally lost in the ruins.”

“While the Heavenly Court’s Divine Palace’s Martial Repository had been destroye
d, our luck is still considerably decent. I managed to dig up this talisman in the Pill Hall.”

Yan Zhaoge sighed, “Actually, we can’t say that we’re lucky either. Without the matters that happened today, this talisman would still be placed aside by me. When I discovered it last time, I didn’t pay it any attention at all.”

“This talisman is capable of helping senior apprentice-brother Xu?” Finally, a hint of joy appeared on Feng Yunsheng’s face.

“I’ve studied the usage of it and felt that we could try it out.” Yan Zhaoge answered, “From the looks of it now, it’s exactly how I expected it to work. We can finally relax a little.”

Feng Yunsheng stared at the stone statue and finally understood, “I remember the Great Sage Equalling Heavens’ words. To inherit his Golden Body, one’s cultivation must reach a certain height. Otherwise, multiple candidates would be required.”

Xu Fei, Yan Zhaoge’s North Ocean Clone, and Pan Pan together weren’t qualified yet.

Not only was their cultivation weak, but they also numbered to a mere few. Most likely, they wouldn’t have the chance of succeeding.

“But now, with the fusion of the Earth Splitting Pearl and part of the Later Earth Text’s spiritual energy, he could inherit the Great Sage Equalling Heaven’s Golden Body despite being a stone statue?”

Yan Zhaoge nodded and said, “I’ve already contacted my North Ocean Clone. After a while, he would bring Pan Pan along. With this, our glimmer of hope might expand.”

He quietly stared at the stone statue. While its surface was coarse, it still seemed so lively. Xu Fei’s smiling face could still be seen.

“If we succeed, this would be a blessing in disguise for senior apprentice-brother Xu,” said Feng Yunsheng.

Yan Zhaoge softly said, “That being said, this is a matter of life and death with all sorts of uncertainties lying ahead. If we had the luxury of choice, we wouldn’t have used the Great Sage Equalling Heavens to our benefits.”

“Hopefully, senior apprentice-brother Xu would be safe,” said Feng Yunsheng. Yan Zhaoge nodded slightly.

The two continued on their journey. Midway, they stopped for a short moment.

After a short while, Yan Zhaoge’s North Ocean Clone appeared, with his wings flapping.
