Jamie continued to kiss while his fingers worked at the buttons of Aaron’s shirt. Aaron gasped and pulled back from the kiss when Jamie’s strong hands slipped inside his shirt and began to knead at his chest. Jamie murmured, “You feel even better than I expected, too.”

Aaron looked down to see Jamie incline his head and push the shirt open and off Aaron’s shoulders. With his chest exposed, Aaron felt nearly naked already, and then Jamie kissed his right nipple. Electricity raced up Aaron’s spine, and he tangled his fingers into Jamie’s hair in a desperate effort to remain standing and ward off buckling of his knees. Aaron weakly asked, “Would you like to see the bedroom?”

Jamie chuckled softly and said, “If you’re okay with that.”

Aaron merely nodded. He didn’t know if he could speak anymore. Jamie gave him another quick kiss and then Aaron set out trying to remember for sure which direction to turn to reach the bedroom.

As he stumbled down the short hallway to the left, Aaron felt Jamie tug at his shirt causing it to slip down Aaron’s arms and on to the floor. He chose not to think about being half naked in Jamie’s presence and valiantly charged on toward the bedroom. He cringed when he opened the door to reveal an unmade bed and a pile of clothes on a chair in the corner.

Jamie obviously wasn’t paying attention to Aaron’s housekeeping. He tugged at Aaron’s arm to turn him around and then playfully pushed him backward on to the bed. He said, “I hope you don’t mind if I get a little more comfortable.”

Aaron pushed himself backward toward the center of the bed and mumbled, “No, of course not. Why would I…”

Jamie reached forward with a finger against Aaron’s lips and quieted him again. Then he slowly unbuttoned his own shirt. Aaron looked at the fabric and stitching. It was expensive. Then he bit his lip as Jamie’s body appeared. Jamie’s skin was smooth, and it was lightly tan. He obviously worked out with firm, rounded pecs and ab muscles that were visible. In a teasing voice, Jamie asked, “Do you like what you see…Aaron?”

Aaron moaned, “Oh, fuck…Jamie, this is nuts.”

Jamie raised an eyebrow, “Do you want me to continue?”

“Oh yeah, of course, but you’re…” The words didn’t come. He skipped ahead to, “And I’m…” but those words weren’t successful either.

Meanwhile, Jamie climbed on to the bed on his knees and straddled Aaron’s hips. He reached down for Aaron’s long thin fingers and placed them on his package. He asked, “Why don’t you help?”

Jamie was rock hard beneath the expensive fabric of his pants. Aaron tried hard to maintain some sort of composure. He reached forward with his other hand and began to unbuckle Jamie’s leather belt. Aaron looked up into Jamie’s eyes for confirmation that it was okay.

Jamie’s head was thrown back, and his chest was thrust forward. A deeply erotic moan sounded as his mouth opened. Aaron took that as evidence that he was on the right track.

The next hour unfolded in a blur. Aaron wasn’t sure he’d ever felt so alive. The very tips of his fingers and toes tingled. Jamie was aggressive in pushing physical contact forward, but, to Aaron’s relief, Jamie preferred the bottom position in sex. At least that would be the technical term for it.

As a naked Jamie straddled Aaron’s hips once more and slowly lowered himself on to Aaron’s condom-sheathed cock, Aaron knew that he wasn’t exactly taking the lead.

But then something clicked in his head, and Aaron took over. He rolled Jamie over on to his back and grabbed hold of the muscular thighs pulling Jamie forward.

Aaron plunged even deeper into Jamie’s ass hearing a guttural, “Yes!” in response.

It could have been minutes later, but it felt like seconds before both Aaron and Jamie’s bodies were convulsing in the throes of powerful orgasms. Jamie shot hard and the white hot cum landed on Aaron’s chest. He yelled out, “Aaron!” as he shot again.

Jamie reached up and pulled on Aaron’s shoulder causing the cock to pop free of his body, and they both laughed while Aaron collapsed on the bed at Jamie’s side.

Jamie stared into his eyes and ran fingers down Aaron’s cheek while Aaron struggled to say something. “I didn’t…I mean I’m happy, but I...”

  “It was awesome, Aaron.”

“But I have rules,” protested Aaron.

Jamie raised an eyebrow and asked, “Rules?”

Aaron said, “I don’t do this…on a first date.” Then they both laughed out loud.

Jamie asked, “And you think I do?”

Aaron nestled his face against Jamie’s neck. Then his gut tensed when he thought about everything that was going on. He asked, “Does Christy know where you are?”

Jamie said, “All that she knows is that I needed to go out.”

Aaron kissed Jamie’s neck and whispered, “Jamie, this is crazy.”

  Jamie

He didn’t plan for it to happen that way, but Jamie sensed a massive wave of warmth and excitement sweeping over his body while Aaron drifted off to sleep in his arms. Aaron was twice as good looking and twice as charming in person as he was on the computer screen. That meant Aaron was off the charts in attractiveness. Jamie was already smitten before they even met in person. Now he was floating on cloud nine.

Not long after Aaron settled into dream land, Jamie fell asleep, too, but then he woke in the middle of the night with his eyes wide open. He needed to get back to Christy’s. If he wasn’t there when she and Sylvia woke up, she would be worried.

He reached out for his cell phone on the night stand and saw that it was already 1:30 a.m. Jamie looked at Aaron lying on his stomach with his face turned to the side on the pillow. He was absolutely adorable. Jamie didn’t want to wake him, but he didn’t want Aaron waking up in the morning and wondering where Jamie had gone.

Jamie reached out and shook Aaron’s shoulder gently whispering, “Aaron, I’m sorry, but I’ve got to go. Christy will wonder where I am now.”

Aaron whispered, “Mmm…k…” and then he was asleep again.

Jamie leaned over and kissed his cheek saying, “It was more than I even dreamed of Aaron, and I’ll see you at some point tomorrow.” He thought he saw a smile on Aaron’s face as he slowly slipped out of the bed and tugged on his clothes.

Walking the short distance on the shared balcony to Christy’s apartment, Jamie remembered when she was moving in, and she had an extra key made for him. She said, “You never know when you might need this.” It was the first time he ever needed it, and he was happy for the specific occasion. He did his best to be quiet as the key turned in the lock and he slowly opened the door.

To Jamie’s surprise, Christy was waiting up for him. She was sitting in the living room with a cup of hot tea watching an old movie. He whispered, “What are you doing up?”

She smiled and said, “I’m making sure my little brother got back safely.”

Jamie walked up to her and bent down giving Christy an affectionate kiss on the cheek. Then he found a spot to sit on the couch while she slowly shook her head. He wasn’t quite sure what that meant, but at least she was still smiling. Jamie said, “I guess I got a little wrapped up in the old hometown.”

Christy said, “I think you got a little wrapped up in my friend Aaron.”

Jamie could feel his cheeks grow warm and he said, “Oh, you knew that, but how…”

“Good ears,” whispered Christy. “I heard you both trying to whisper, and then I know which door is Aaron’s when it opens and closes.” After a quick pause, she said, “And don’t worry. I’m happy for you. Aaron’s a great guy. He’s the guy you met on the dating site, isn’t he?”

  “You knew that, too?”

“I pieced it together tonight.” She leaned forward with her hands on her knees, and, for a split second, Jamie thought he saw the wisdom of their Grandmother Bradley in Christy’s eyes. In a soft whisper, she said, “I am really happy for both of you. The two of you are the best men in my life, but, Jamie, that means you have to be good to him.”
/>
  “Why wouldn’t I be?”

Jamie could see a level of weariness in Christy’s eyes as she said, “I’m not saying you wouldn’t, but I’m just saying keep that in mind. Be good to Aaron. I won’t tolerate anything else.”

  * * *

It was not what Jamie expected when he planned the trip down to Catlett’s Cove, but the long weekend turned into both a delightful visit with Christy and Sylvia and a whirlwind courtship of Aaron. The family time occupied most of the daylight hours, and evenings were dates and private time in Aaron’s apartment.

Christy insisted on one rule. She gave Jamie a 4:00 a.m. curfew. She didn’t want to explain to Sylvia why her Uncle Jamie wasn’t around when she woke up in the morning.

Jamie beat the curfew each night by at least an hour. He called work on Monday to extend his time away by one extra night. He explained to Caleb what was happening eliciting a, “You devil you,” response from his friend.

Jamie took Aaron out to the movies on Saturday night, and then he made reservations for dinner at an elegant restaurant in Mitchell, the county seat and a town twice as large as Catlett’s Cove.

When Jamie explained that he was treating Aaron to the dinner, the response was, “No, you can’t spend that much money on me.”

Jamie said, “I’ve got it to spend, and I can, and I will. I won’t take no for an answer.”

Aaron reached out for a hug and said, “You’ve got to excuse me. I’ve never had anything like this happen before. I know I’m acting like a jerk.”

The words were cut off with a kiss. Jamie looked into Aaron’s eyes and said, “Then we’re even. I’ve never met anyone like you before, Aaron. I’ve never met a guy that makes me want to just leave everything else behind and make the entire world our own special place.”

Aaron shook his head and said, “Fuck, that’s nuts.” Then he stared into Jamie’s eyes again as he said, “But I want it. I really do.”

Jamie grinned. He said, “We both have it. And, damn, it feels great.”

Each night the sex only got better. Jamie started to yell out when he came at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning and Aaron reached out a hand clamping it over his mouth whispering, “The walls are thin.”

Jamie grunted into the hand with nostrils flaring, and Aaron didn’t let go until he could see Jamie relax and his breathing beginning to return to normal. He said, “I’m sorry, but I don’t want somebody complaining. The rent is cheap for what you get here.”

Rolling on to his back at Aaron’s side, Jamie laughed, and he tried to rein in the noise level. He said, “That’s just so sweet. How did I get so lucky to find you?”

Aaron rolled over on to his side and traced a finger across Jamie’s chest saying, “You had a sister as wonderful as Christy and a niece as endearing as Sylvia.”

Jamie nodded and said, “They are pretty special. I lucked out in the big sister department.”

“And fortunately that ass of an ex seems to be staying away.”

Jamie reached out and touched Aaron’s cheekbone still slightly discolored from the fist that he took more than a week ago. He said, “Yep, I wonder if he knows that I’m in town. I’ve only met him a few times, but I don’t think he wants to tangle with me. I’m sorry for the shiner you got.”

Aaron said, “Actually, I’m a little proud of it. I got it in the line of standing up for someone. I’ve never had an opportunity to do that before. I’ve never been in a real fight. I survived, and it wasn’t as soul-crushing as I thought it might be. It hurt like hell for a few hours though.”

“It only makes you look more tough and rugged, Aaron. That’s sexy.”

Aaron grinned. “Yeah, well, I hope you don’t expect too much ruggedness out of me. I run from spiders.”

Jamie tangled his fingers into Aaron’s hair. “Don’t worry. I’ll protect you from any creepy crawly beasts. I was fascinated by anything like that when I was a kid. I caught snakes in the back yard, and I even had a pet tarantula for awhile.”

With a grimace, Aaron said, “That really is kind of disgusting. I hope you grew out of it.”

Jamie smiled and said, “I just like to look at them in the zoo now.”

“When we take Sylvia there, I’ll stand outside and wait for the two of you.”

Monday night seemed to arrive sooner than it should, but Jamie’s time in Catlett’s Cove was full. Earlier in the day, he rented a boat to take out on the lake. Christy and Aaron both took the day off from work, and they all spent it together. Sylvia was ecstatic. Aaron showed her how to fish, and Jamie smiled from ear to ear when he thought about the possibility of them all becoming a real family in the future.

While Aaron and Sylvia cast their lines over the side of the boat, Jamie spoke privately with Christy. He asked, “Do you think he’s finally going to leave you alone?”

  “Who?” asked Christy.

“Ethan. I sort of vomit into my mouth when I try to say his name out loud.”

Christy laughed. “Honestly, you’re not the only one. What did I ever see in him Jamie?”

“You don’t need to think about that now. I’ve had my share of dating disasters, too. He was good for one thing.”

Christy raised an eyebrow and asked, “What’s that?”

Jamie pointed across the boat to Sylvia who was giggling at the tiny fish that Aaron caught on his line. “He gave us her.”

Sighing, Christy said, “She really is the best. I’d better not have any more kids. She broke the mold. I can’t believe how happy she is after everything that she’s been through.”

Jamie gripped his sister’s thigh and said, “She has the best mom in the world. That’s why she’s so happy.”

  “And a pretty awesome uncle.”

“I think she’s kind of got two uncles,” said Jamie.

  “You mean Aaron?”

Jamie nodded. “She can’t stop talking about ‘Mr. Austin.’”

Christy said, “Well, he is a very sweet guy. Are the two of you really getting along?”

“I’ve honestly never met anyone like him before, Christy. I know it might seem weird, because you’ve probably noticed the string of pretty boys I’ve gone out with. Aaron isn’t like that. He’s adorable and he’s…” Jamie lowered his voice, “Sexy, but he’s also really smart and one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. He could be the one…”

She said, “Careful, little brother. Aaron probably is all that, but give yourself some time. You just met him three days ago. He hasn’t had time to show you any of his bad habits. I’m sure there are a few. For one, he’s not quite as meticulous about housekeeping as my little brother.”

“Aaron has bad habits?” asked Jamie. “Are you sure?”

“Have you met the Yoda figure?” asked Christy.

Jamie said, “That was cute. Everybody needs a little guidance in life.”

Christy glanced over at Aaron and Sylvia. They were still laughing and looking at the fishing lines cast over the side of the boat. She leaned toward Jamie speaking in a soft voice. “The first time Aaron invited Sylvia and me over to his place, it was so funny.”

“It was funny that he invited you?”

“No, what happened was funny. Sylvia was super excited, because she was already falling for the charms of Mr. Austin.”

“That’s an easy thing to do,” said Jamie.

Christy grinned and said, “I completely agree. It’s too bad that he’s gay. Anyway, it was obvious he had cleaned up ahead of inviting us. His apartment looked immaculate. Then he pulled out a couple of books he bought for Sylvia. Of course, she instantly wanted him to read them to her.”

Jamie nodded. “She is quite a reader.”

“So Aaron said, ‘Just give me a few minutes, Sylvia. I need to get your mommy something to drink.’ Then Sylvia quietly marched into the living room with the books while Aaron talked to me in the kitchen.”

  “What about?” asked Jamie.

Christy shrugged and said, “Oh, I don’t remember that a
t all. It’s unimportant. What happened next was hilarious.”

  “Yeah?”

Christy said, “Sylvia came back into the kitchen and asked, in the sweetest of voices, ‘Are these Mr. Austin’s?’”

Jamie’s eyes widened. “What was it?”

“Superhero underwear.” Jamie erupted into laughter, and Christy couldn’t help laughing along with him.

Aaron called out from across the boat. “Hey! No fair having fun without us. We’re doing all the work catching dinner.”

Sylvia said, “I don’t think that fish is enough for dinner, Mr. Austin.”

Jamie whispered to Christy, “You know, I should just bring you all to the city with me.”

  9

  Aaron

Aaron had to pinch himself to be convinced that dating Jamie was real. It all unfolded so easily. Even the trip to the city went off without a hitch. Aaron stared out the windows overlooking downtown from Jamie’s apartment and asked, “Are you sure this is really yours?”

Jamie walked up behind him wrapping his arms around Aaron’s waist and said, “It’s mine, and it’s a great view, but it’s not half as great as being with you.”

Aaron grinned and said, “You should put that in a song. It rhymed.”

Jamie kissed the side of his neck saying, “That’s the first and last song lyric I’m ever writing.”

When he returned home, Aaron had an invitation in the mail from Yale. It was for a grand reopening of the Undercover bookstore that Yale managed and co-owned along with Derek. Aaron took the invitation as a positive sign that the relationship was back to smooth sailing between Derek and Yale. He double-checked the date and discovered that the bookstore celebration was on Sylvia’s fifth birthday. He already promised Christy that he would help out with a party, but he wondered if it was possible that they could fold both events together for one big fun Saturday.

Two hours later, Aaron had Christy cornered in her apartment while Sylvia sat quietly on the couch reading one of her favorite picture books. Christy said, “You’re right. That might be perfect. Do you really think you can get Jamie down here? The two of you helping out with the party would be fantastic, and Sylvia would be so excited.”
