“I’m the happiest man alive,” he says as he puts me back on my feet. “I’m not going to miss one minute of this one’s life.”
“Congrats.” Thorn slaps a large hand on his shoulder.
“Thanks.”
“What’s next for you and Lauryn? I don’t see a ring on her finger.” I hold her hand out.
“I don’t need nor do I want a ring. I’m happy with the way things are.” Her smile says how much she adores him.
“Thorn is taking over the new crew coming into to replace all of us old-timers,” Rebel says.
“So congrats are in order for you, Captain Thorn,” I add.
He runs his hand over his short hair. “Sounds weird, but a guy could get used to it.” We all laugh.
It sounds as if things are finally working out for all of us. I love it, but it makes me sad that the Gunners will be apart, all living our own lives.
“Promise me we will all stay connected no matter where we are,” I say, wiping away a tear.
“Don’t worry,” Theo barks. “Our lives have always been fated together, and that’s the way it will always be.”

My current adventure has me living in Idaho with my own gray-bearded hero, who’s put up with my shenanigans for over thirty years, and he doesn’t mind all my book boyfriends.
