Wooing Wynter Page 26

“They’re probably home.” She cried against Wynter’s side. “I’m not sure. The men came and took me while I was sleeping.”

“What do we do with her and those like her?” Wynter met Geno’s gaze.

“We find their families. If we can’t, we’ll take care of them somehow.”

The light of her smile hit him like a ton of bricks. Hell, he’d adopt the world if she kept looking at him that way.

  Chapter Thirty-seven

WYNTER STARED OUT OVER the horizon, wishing things had ended better for the people they’d saved from the underground laboratory.

“Do you think we’ll ever catch up to that crazy scientist?”

“Who knows?” Geno sighed. “We can hope we will someday. Someone has to stop him.”

“Right.” She watched the reds and oranges of the sunrise over the lake, thankful that everyone was safe on board. “I wish we could have taken the people home right away. I’m sure their families are worried.”

“We will, once we figure out what’s happened to them.” Geno wrapped his arms around her from behind and kissed the side of her neck. “Those who the scientists haven’t injected with shifter DNA will be able to return home after Dana wipes their memories of the shifters they’ve lived with and the circumstances of their captivity,” he paused with a sigh. “The others are going to have to get used to the fact that they can never go home.”

“What about Amy?” Wynter thought of the little girl who had clung to her in the cells. “Will she ever get to go home and see her parents again?”

“She will. It’s different for the kids since Dana was able to put markers in their chromosomes. The markers will stop them from shifting before they become adolescents.” Geno pulled her tighter against him. “She’ll just have to remember she can never tell her parents what happened or that she has shifter DNA. We’ll make sure she knows how to find us and has a way to get in touch with us after she turns fourteen. We’ll then send someone in to teach her about her abilities before they get out of hand, and when she turns eighteen, she can come to us for the rest of her training.”

  “Won’t her parents suspect anything?”

“I doubt it,” he replied with a shrug. “They’ll most likely be too happy to have their daughter home to suspect anything. By the time their relief has worn off, and they notice anything off, they’ll wonder if she wasn’t always that way.” He blew out a breath. “At least that’s how I hope it goes. If not, Dana will have more memory wipes to do.”

“I hope it works out for her.”

“Me, too. Now,” Geno said as he pulled her tight. “Have I told you how much I love you?” He nuzzled her neck, his hands sliding up to cup her breasts, his thumbs lightly stroking her nipples.

“You just did.” Wynter moaned and arched her back, her breasts jutting forward as though begging for his touch. “I love you, too.”

He slid his hands lower, his fingers digging into the soft flesh of her rear. “I love your smile, your scent, the way your long hair slides between us while we’re making love, and the way your eyes glaze over when you’re aroused.” Geno breathed the words into her ear. “Mostly, I love that you’re mine.”

Wynter turned in his embrace and pressed her body to his. “You’re perfect for me, Geno. Every day, I thank your first mate and your goddess for the gift of your love.”

  “And Ben?”

“Ben can...” Wynter paused with a sigh. “Ben is in the past, and he can stay there because my present is just that. It’s a gift I will cherish every day for the rest of my life because you’re a part of it.”

She’d come a long way over the past few days, and Wynter felt free. She glanced up at the heavens. Thank you so much for giving me a new life.

Wynter turned to Geno, wrapped her arms around his neck, and smiled. She would thank the heavens for every new day she spent with her alien mate.

  THE END

  About the Author

IF YOU’RE READING THIS, I hope it means you’ve just enjoyed reading one of my books. Always a romantic, I started weaving little fantasies for my friends at the tender age of fifteen.

Years later, after complaining to my husband that my favorite authors didn’t write fast enough, he asked a fateful question. “Why don’t you write one of your own while you’re waiting?”

Once I started writing, he couldn’t stop me. I write in the morning, and during my and I write at night when I should be relaxing. I’ve even been caught writing in my sleep. Sometimes it even makes sense!

I grew up in Southwest Florida, where I met and married the love of my life and started my very own happily ever after. My husband was in the Navy for twenty years, so if you wonder where I have gotten some of my ideas, I blame him. I suggest you do the same. He’s always saying he has wide shoulders. Let’s load them up, shall we?

Currently, I live in Michigan, seven miles from the nearest town. I love living in the country. It gives me the peace I need to continue writing these stories for you. It also shows me a lot of natural beauty that I try to share with you in my books.

While I might dedicate my titles to certain individuals who have touched my life in differing ways, please remember, every one of them is written for you, my readers.

My most recent goal is to continue what I do—to share more stories with anyone willing to read them. My new dream is to be able to pursue both my writing and my husband full time. Do you think he’ll run?
