I Don’t Date Superheroes Page 13

by S D Rogue

“Well I know you said you didn’t date Paladins.”

“I did say that—but recently I’ve been convinced otherwise.”

Bashir’s expression changed. “I don’t want to have a good night and then kill the mood by talking shop, so can I just get one thing out of the way?”

A frown grew on Hana’s face. “I don’t like where this is headed.”

“We could really use you, Hana.”

“It’s a vacation. I’m not leaving.” Hana promised.

“Not as a nurse. In the field.”

“You want me to be an agent?” she said, surprised.

  “Is that really surprising?”

  “I like what I do.”

“Then keep doing it. But there are missions that—we could just really use someone with your skills—not just your abilities, but—your whole package, Hana.”

  She didn’t speak.

“Ok, I gave my speech. Think about it,” Bashir said. His hand went to Hana’s and he held her hand in his. He admired her eyes several seconds without speaking. “Can we just forget about everything else right now and go see the sunset?”

Hana looked at him, annoyed. “You’re going to leave me hungry? I thought this was a dinner date?”

  Bashir was caught off guard.

Hana smiled. She looked at the setting sun. “This place is too fancy. Let’s take a walk—maybe we’ll find something better.”

Bashir stood and extended his hand.

“And about your offer…” Hana paused.

Bashir looked at her, waiting for her to speak.

“How does the agency feel about agents dating?”

He shrugged. “Is that a yes?”

  She smiled, but didn’t answer.

They crossed the street and kicked off their shoes when they reached the sand. Walking hand and hand, they went to the water and let the waves roll up to their ankles.

Bashir stopped and turned towards the sun. It was now a giant glowing ball about to disappear behind the water. Hana looked over at him. “It’s kind of perfect right now—I just can’t resist.” Before Hana could ask him what, he pulled her in tight against his body and rested his lips on hers.
