Sex & Sours Page 30

The binds were taut now; his knuckles white where he gripped them. “Please.”

With a loud moan, I sunk down hard and fast on his cock, rolling my hips to get the angle just right. Bet forgotten, I chased my pleasure, fucking myself on him, getting off on the grunted, “Ah, ah, ah,” streaming from Sam’s lips and the wet slap of our bodies. His eyes were heated, laser-focused on mine, closing only as he came, the throb of him inside of me getting me one step closer.

Quickly, I reached for myself, rubbing my clit and panting his name as I fell over the edge.

We eventually met our friends down the street, only twenty minutes late and not looking nearly as fucked-out as their smug expressions seemed to indicate. Sam joined Jackson at the bar, where he was ordering another round, and I settled in between Audrey and Wes, who was showing Liv a viral video of a cat in a toupée, lip-syncing to “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley.

When the others came back with the drinks, I asked, “What should we toast to?”

I gently shoved my elbow into Wes’ side when I heard him mumble, “You finally getting here.”

My attention was caught by the shared look between Audrey and Jackson. Lord help me if they went and got eloped, I was going to kill them.

Blessedly, Audrey said, “We finally set a date.”

There was a collective sigh of relief around the table, followed by a cheer. Finally.

Liv beamed at them. “That’s great news. When will it be?”

  “June 9th.”

That surprised me. “That’s only six months away.”

Jackson nodded. “We didn’t want to wait any longer.”

“That’ll be right before filming. You won’t have much time for a honeymoon,” Wes said.

“We’ll have a week or two, which will be enough.”

“I, for one, am glad you’ve finally picked a date! Does this mean you’ll need to rush the preparations?” Liv really did look incredibly happy for them. It was sweet to see. I wondered if she were hoping her sort-of-secret-boyfriend would propose soon. From what Wes had told me, they’d been seeing each other for a while now, even if they were hiding it from the media because they worked together.

“No. Um, we kind of decided against something big,” Audrey said tentatively. “I didn’t want anything elaborate. All through the planning, something just felt off, and we worked out that we were trying to make it something neither of us wanted.”

Jackson’s arm tightened around her waist, leaning in to kiss her temple. These two. “Right. We’ll still have a ceremony, but we’re thinking of something small. Just close friends and family.”

Audrey touched my arm. “It also means no more florists.”

“Oh, thank God,” I said, elated. Today couldn’t get any better.

Sam’s broad palm glided under my shirt, teasing the ticklish skin above my jeans. I shivered when his deep voice whispered in my ear, “I suppose now isn’t an appropriate time to tell you that your Christmas present arrived early and that I don’t know that I can wait another week to use it.”

My mind raced, immediately sure of what it was that he must be referring to. There had been a few things we’d been discussing recently, mostly bedroom-related, and only one that he would have to whisper to me like a dirty secret. “Please tell me it’s the—”

He cleared his throat, halting me, but the hungry look in his eyes gave it away. “Perhaps. If you’re good tonight, maybe we can open it later.”

Later would be hours away, which Sam knew, and he was doing this on purpose. Probably because of my comments to Audrey on the phone earlier. Oops. So worth it, though.

Leering, I curled a hand around his thigh, deliberately brushing his length through his pants. I heard his sharp intake of breath and leaned in to catch one of his hoops in my teeth. Two could play this game. “I hate you,” I said lovingly.

“I love you,” he replied, then turned his head to catch me in a kiss.

  “I know.”

  Acknowledgments

Wow. Look, I know every author says this, but this book is my baby. This was the one that sat impatiently in my brain, poking at me until I wrote it. Tiffany and Sam - they just would not leave me alone, and boy do I love them for it.

I had so much fun with these two, and hopefully that comes across in the book. Tiffany is who I want to be when I grow up - someone so wonderfully strong and caring and generous - with a blue tongue and a cocktail for every occasion.

To my wonderful friends and family who continue to support me (and buy my books) and let me drag them to cocktail bars for book research.

To every single person who’s poured me a drink in the last 12 months - I couldn’t have done this without your help.

A special thanks to Mickey, the loudest cat in existence, for inspiring Luna.

To my beautiful bi’s, who may have shared similar experiences to my own (and Tiff’s), and especially those I’ve spoken to who have been so wonderful in supporting me in my journey. I’m not always a disaster, but when I am, I love knowing I have a loving extended family around me.

Another huge thank you to my incredible cover designer Bailey, who manages to always amaze and put up with my very picky comments but turns them into something beautiful every time.

And my eternal gratitude to my wonderful editor Olivia, whose critique and guidance really turned this manuscript around from 80k of banter into a journey that I could really be proud of. Sam in particular benefitted greatly in the revisions, and I’m so happy with his story now.

And to every other writer who has listened to me ramble on about this story, and these characters, thank you and I’m sorry! This was the one I couldn’t stop talking about! I love these characters so so much, and I know you all got sick of me but you stuck it out anyway.

  About the Author

Dani McLean is an emerging author of Contemporary Romance stories that feature kickass women who can’t quite get their shit together, and the irresistible but confused men who fall in love with them.

Born in Melbourne, she now lives in Perth, Western Australia with two walk in robes and a linen closet that’s full of wine.

Dani loves to read, write and travel (in her memories, these days). She loves Hallmark movies because they’re unintentionally hilarious, she’s been on enough terrible Tinder dates to fuel countless books; and when she isn’t conducting unofficial wine tastings in her pyjamas, she’s devouring all things romance.
