Her eyes widened. Where was this coming from? She couldn’t ever imagine doing something like that. Ever.

“Well?” he pressed as he placed his hand against her cheek. “What do you think would happen?”

  “I don’t . . . I don’t know. Would you walk out and leave me?”

“Thought that might be your first thought. My girl, I would not leave you. Not for that. Not for anything.”

“What if I danced naked through the town?”

  “Nope.”

  “What if I murdered someone?”

“Nope. Although it might be difficult to continue a relationship while you’re in jail, I’m sure we can figure it out.”

“If I slipped into Little mode in front of others?” she whispered. What if that happened? Was it possible? She’d lived with her Little side for years without letting it slip. But sometimes it was draining. And she’d never indulged that part of herself like she had these past few days.

He ran his thumb over her cheek. “Nope. Not leaving you.”

She could see the sincerity in his gaze and something eased inside her. “So what would you do if I threw a massive tantrum on the floor?”

“Likely pick you up, put your over my knee, and spank your cute ass.”

  “In front of Aunt Marie!”

He shrugged. “You threw the tantrum in front of her, so I’d think she would deserve to see you get your butt spanked. But if that’s a hard limit, I could take you out to the truck. Course, she’d know you were getting your butt whipped.”

Her cheeks went red at the thought. “I don’t think that will ever happen,” she said primly.

His eyes danced with amusement. “Never say never. Do you know what would happen after that spanking?”

  “Um, I’d apologize.”

  “Yep. And after that?”

What was he wanting her to say?

“What would your mother do if you’d thrown a tantrum while at one of her friend’s houses?”

She winced. “Well, she wouldn’t spank me.” She shot him a quelling look. He just grinned. As though the idea of spanking her was enjoyable.

“And then she’d likely ground me for a month. Take away any privileges and then freeze me out. And then once she started talking to me again, she’d bring it up over and over.”

“That’s kind of what I figured. So you learned to hold everything inside so she wouldn’t freeze you out or scold you again and again until it ate you up inside.”

  “Pretty much.”

“A spanking or any kind of punishment I give, that’s it. Sure, I might scold you. Depending on the crime, you might get a spanking and corner time or lines. But afterward, I’ll hold you tight and tell you how wonderful you are. I’ll give you all the aftercare you need. And then that’s it. Do the time, serve the crime and there is no more punishment.”

“Really?” She gave him a skeptical look.

“Really.” He tucked her hair behind her ear. She hadn’t realized that it had come free. She needed to fix it. She’d put it in a bun before leaving the house, but as soon as Ed had seen it, he’d pulled her hair free. Apparently, she wasn’t allowed to wear her hair in a bun anymore. So they’d compromised and she’d braided it.

She’d never realized that men had an opinion on how women wore their hair. She now knew better.

“So you’re going to spank me now?”

His head reared back. “What? No! That’s not what I meant.”

  “I’m confused.”

“You haven’t done anything wrong to deserve punishment. If anyone has, it’s me.”

  “Why?” she asked.

“For not telling you about Aunt Marie. For making you feel even an instant of panic over something I could have prevented. I feel like shit about that.”

  “You couldn’t have known . . . “

He shot her a look. “I could have thought it through better. I wanted it to be a surprise, a nice surprise.”

And she’d ruined that. She bit her lip.

“Nope. No feeling guilty for you. You have done nothing wrong, hear me? Nothing. But there is one thing we need to discuss.”

  “What’s that?”

“You using words like freak and stupid.” He gave her a stern look.

  Oh.

“There is nothing stupid or freakish about you. I’m not going to punish you this time. But if you say anything like that about yourself or anything you do, you won’t be sitting for a good long while. Understand?”

  “Yes.”

  “Yes, Daddy.”

  “Yes, Big Daddy,” she whispered.

He grimaced at her name for him. But she saw his lips twitch.

“I know you’re worried about what other people will think if they learn you’re a Little. I get it. There are members of this town who would react badly to who I am. It’s not always easy to be the sheriff and a Daddy Dom, which is why I go to the city to a club. Where I can be anonymous. I wouldn’t do anything to put your career and reputation at risk.”

“My boss and colleagues wouldn’t understand. Most of them, anyway. Some might have their own secret kinks.”

  “Probably more than you know.”

“I just feel like my Little side is getting closer to the surface and if I mess up—”

“You won’t. And if your Little comes out in front of someone who doesn’t understand then we’ll deal with it. You trust me to protect you? Even after I messed up today?”

  There was no question.

She threw herself forward. “Of course I do, Big Daddy.”

“Thank you, my girl. That means more to me than I can express.” He drew her gently back. “Now, would you like to do some shopping or would you prefer to just go home? You look a bit pale and shaky.” He frowned with concern.

“I always feel a bit like this after a panic attack.”

“All right then we’ll head home and you can have a nap.” He stood with her in his arms. His hand was firmly under her ass.

“No, Daddy, wait. Please, I don’t want to go home.”

“You need to rest. I can feel you shaking against me.”

“But I’m here. And I want to look around. Please.”

“I don’t want you walking around. What if you feel faint, fall over, and hit your head?”

He had a real obsession with her hitting her head. “I’m sure you’d catch me.”

He grunted as though in affirmation but didn’t look appeased by that. Shoot. Seemed she was going home for a nap. Thing was, now that she’d gotten over her initial shock and panic she really wanted to see what was in here.

“Please, Daddy.” She’d never attempted to give someone puppy dog eyes, but that was what she was aiming for.

He huffed out a breath. “All right, we’ll stay. But there are two conditions.”

“What are they?” she asked suspiciously.

“One, you’ll tell me immediately if you feel dizzy, ill, or sick.”

“I’ll be fine now,” she reassured him.

“Georgina,” he said in a low, warning voice. “We can go straight home right now.”

“Okay, I promise.” Sheesh. He was really serious about this.

“Two, you drink a bottle of water. I want you rehydrated.”

  “I don’t have any water.”

“Aunt Marie keeps some in a fridge for the Littles who visit. Surprisingly, quite a few Littles have problems remembering to drink water.”

“Well, there are much more interesting things to drink. Chocolate milk, Dr. Pepper, coffee. Yum, coffee.”

He shook his head. “Water. That’s it.”

“All right. I’ll drink the water.” He set her down and moved away. He returned with a kid’s drink bottle with a plastic straw at the top. It was in the shape of a penguin.

Oh my Lord. It was adorable. She instantly wanted it. But she put her hands behind her back. “I can’t take that.”

“It’s okay, we can pay for it at the end. No one else has drunk out
of it.”

  “I . . . really?”

“Really.” He handed it to her. She took it and sipped from the straw. The water was cool and she realized that she’d been thirsty.

  “Let’s get a cart.”

She turned to follow Ed towards where a couple of large, metal carts were stacked. They had a seat at the front where someone could sit, but instead of being child-sized these were adult-sized.

Ed turned to look down at her. “Want to ride in the cart?”

He still thought he should take her home.

Why the hell hadn’t he thought to talk to her about this place, first? What kind of an idiotic move was it to make this a surprise? Yeah, one hell of a surprise, sending her into a panic attack.

  Idiot.

She gaped at the cart then up at him. “No way.”

He could tell she was lying. He crossed his arms over his chest. “Georgie-girl, it’s okay if you’re scared or unsure. But it is not okay to lie to me.”

Her eyes dropped guiltily. “Sorry, it’s just. I don’t think I can.”

“That’s okay. You don’t have to.”

Surprise filled her face then understanding. She nodded.

This wasn’t going how he’d planned. He’d wanted to give her a fun experience. She was still clenching her jaw. Cupping her face in his hands, he massaged her jaw gently until she relaxed more. Then he moved his thumb to her lips. Unsurprisingly, she opened her mouth and sucked on his thumb. This had become something comforting for both of them.

When the tensions seeped from her shoulders, he slid his thumb free.

“Come on, how about we start in the toy aisle first.”

He’d expected her eyes to light up. What Little didn’t like toys?

She gave him a smile, but he didn’t see the excitement he was hoping for. Unless he had it wrong . . .

“Or we could start looking at some clothes.”

Happiness filled her eyes. Okay, that surprised him. She didn’t seem like she was that interested in clothes.

And you just judged her by her appearance. Asshole.

“Alright, my girl. Where do you want to start?”

  33

“Big Daddy! Look at this! Can I please have it?”

It hadn’t taken her as long as he’d thought it was to get into the swing of things.

“I’m still not sure about that nickname,” he grumbled.

She turned to him, holding a plastic sword in her hand. “But Big Daddy, you are big. All over.” She ran her gaze down him, lingering on his dick.

  Lord help him.

“Fine, brat. You can call me Big Daddy.” He pointed a finger at her. “But don’t you dare tell Kiesha that’s what you call me.”

She just grinned. “Can we get this? Oh, we’ll need two though. So we can have sword fights.”

“I don’t know about that. You could fall over and—”

“I know, I know, hit my head.” She rolled her eyes and let out a huge, over-exaggerated sigh.

Drawing her close, he put his foot up on one of the shelves and tipped her over his leg.

  “Daddy!” she screeched.

“Was that attitude you were just giving me, little girl?” he growled. He smacked his hand down on her bottom.

  “Daddy, no, put me down.”

After several more smacks, he set her back down. She scowled at him, while rubbing her behind. He just grinned because he knew he hadn’t hit her that hard.

“Daddy, not nice.” She wiggled her finger at him. “I won’t buy you a pirate sword if you’re going to be mean.”

He snorted. “You best watch that sassy mouth before you end up in the corner while I continue shopping. And if I’m doing the shopping, then I’m buying some extra-large butt plugs.”

Her mouth dropped open then she smiled sweetly. “Why, Big Daddy, I have no idea what you mean. I is a good girl. But please, can we get these?”

“Of course we can, anything for my girl.” He put two swords in the trolley.

Yay! She was so lucky to have such a nice Daddy. Even if he did like to spank a bit too much. They turned into another aisle and he picked up something that had her coming to a sharp stop and putting her hands over her butt.

“Nuh-uh, Daddy. You can’t get that.”

“Xavier said they’re the best sort of thermometer,” he murmured, reading the back of the package that held a rectal thermometer.

  Urgh. Not happening.

“You are not putting that in my butt.”

“Georgie-girl, this is far smaller than the plugs you’ve had in your butt.”

“Yeah, but, I just know I don’t want that in my bottom.” She pointed at the horrible thing. Not. Happening.

“Tough. We’re getting one. And if you keep acting up, I’ll start to think you’re getting ill. I’m sure Aunt Marie won’t mind if I test your temperature right now.”

  Oh, he wouldn’t.

He crossed his wide arms over his chest and stared down at her.

“Fine. But if you lose it, you can’t buy another one.”

He looked confused for a moment then gave her the ‘Ed look’. “If that thermometer goes missing, then I will buy another one. And I’ll also redden a certain little brat’s bottom.”

Darn it. There went that plan.

“Cheer up, my girl. At least I’m not insisting on nightly temperature checks. I could do that you know.”

  Okay. Message received.

She’d been outplayed by Big Daddy.

It was all she could do not to bounce around in excitement as she looked at everything Ed was piling up onto the counter for Aunt Marie to tally up. They’d bought way too many things. Her credit card was going to get a fair hit. But it wasn’t like she was short of money. She barely spent any of her wages and she still had some money left in her trust from her father.

And everything that they’d chosen brought her so much joy. So how could it be a bad purchase? Well, nearly everything. She wasn’t so sure about the heart-shaped paddle Ed had picked up. He’d even swung it against the palm of his hand a few times.

They’d also gotten some cute ice packs with pictures of parrots on them as well as another sippy cup and a bottle. The bottle wasn’t something she thought she was going to want to use. But Ed insisted on getting it just in case.

They’d bought an assortment of cute clothes. There were a couple of onesies with drop seats. Some long fluffy socks that went to mid-thigh and had faces of animals up the top. Some denim shorts and skirts, even though Ed grumbled that he’d have to turn up the heat in the house. He’d also insisted on some warmer clothing. So she had a sweater with rabbit ears on the hood and several pairs of leggings.

One of her favorite things were her new shoes, though. They were light up with rainbows over the top.

Light up shoes! In her size!

  So. Awesome.

But the best things were the sword and scabbard, pirate hat, eye patch, telescope, and compass. She was going to be a real pirate now.

She fidgeted back and forth as Aunt Marie added everything up. Ed had also insisted on a soft toy that was meant to help with anxiety. It had long arms with weights in them that you could wrap around your shoulders or neck. Like it was giving you a hug.

Georgina knew she could have done with something like that a few weeks ago. But now she had Ed. Still, she indulged him and chose one. They’d also grabbed some coloring books and one of those toy steering wheels. Something else she’d always wanted. This one had a real horn and made noises.

  So. Fun.

Ed leaned down to whisper in her ear. “Do you need to pee before we go, my girl?”

She froze. Did he just say that? She looked over at Aunty Marie, but she wasn’t paying any attention. She kept adding things up and bagging them.

  “No.”

“Hmm, are you sure? You’re bouncing around on your feet like you need to.”

Did she need to? Drat, maybe he was right. She glared up at him. He gave
her nose a warning tap while giving her ‘the Ed look’.

“Aunt Marie, we need to use the bathroom.”

The older woman just waved her hand at him without looking up. “You know where it is.”

Ed took her hand and led her to a door off to the side. It had a picture of a unicorn on the front. She wasn’t sure what a unicorn had to do with peeing, but it was a cute unicorn so she went with it.

Inside, the bathroom cubicle was large. It had one of those changing tables that pulled out from the wall. But it was longer and wider than a baby needed.

Well, an actual baby. But it was perfect for an adult baby. She blushed at the thought. The toilet had a cute lid with frogs on it.

“Need me to stay?” Ed asked.

  “No!” she squeaked.

He headed out the door. “All right. I’ll leave. Today.”

Did that mean that another day, he wouldn’t? Yikes. She peed then cleaned up and opened the door. He was waiting on the other side. She could have found her own way back to the counter, but she rather liked that he’d waited for her.

When they reached Aunt Marie, she read out the total. Georgina grabbed out her wallet.

“What are you doing?” Ed rumbled, taking her purse from her hand.

“Hey, I need to pay for this.”

  “Yeah, that’s not happening.”

“What?” She gaped up at him.

His forehead was furrowed as he stared down at her. “You’re not paying.”

“This stuff is for me, so yeah, I am.”

“Oh, this should be interesting.” Aunt Marie watched on.

Shoot. She forgot they had an audience.

“Ed, please give me my purse.”

“Not happening. You’re not paying. When you’re out with me, my girl, I pay.”

“But this isn’t stopping for an ice cream, Ed. This is hundreds of dollars of stuff. For me.”

“For us. And I’m paying. So put your hand down right now.”

“No.” She glared at him stubbornly. But the look on his face told her he wouldn’t budge. “Fine. I can be reasonable. We’ll go halves.”
