“All right, you bastards wanna talk about stocks and options we need to plan for a day when I’m sober,” I mumbled, words slurring together. I lost count of how many cocktails I had, and when they all ran out, I switched to beer with Cole. I hadn’t tried to stand up in a couple hours, but I was sure it would be a struggle when I finally did.
“Why don’t you take one of the bedrooms upstairs?” Ben offered.
“Does it have a lock? I don’t want you guys pulling some stupid pranks to make me piss myself or something.”
“Already trying to explain away his bedwetting problem,” Seth said. “It’s okay, Matt, we all know.”
I showed him my middle finger.
“Yes, it locks, but no one’s going to bother you,” Ben promised.
“Yeah, especially not Ben,” Cole added. “He’s still scarred from the time he walked in on you beating your meat in that hotel room in Austin.”
“That was the last time we ever shared a room for a tech conference,” Ben said, shuddering.
“You are all the worst. And I mean that from the bottom of my heart.”
“We love you too, buddy,” Seth said. “You gonna make it up there all right on your own?”
“Yeah, I--” I stood up and swayed, nearly falling back on the couch before Cole and Ben both reached out to steady me. “I got it,” I finished to their skeptical glances.
I sorta fell up the stairs more than I climbed them, but I made it to the second floor and took the first guest room I came upon, face-planting on the bed. The mattress was soft and pillowy, probably never used, and it cradled my body like a cloud.
The only thing that could make it better would be to not be here alone.
To have Keke next to me.
Damn it.
I was doing so good not thinking about her, but suddenly she was all I could think about.
With the foolishness that could only come from way too much alcohol, I decided to call her.
“Hello?” she answered. “Matt? Is everything okay with Addie?”
“Yeah… I mean, I assume so. She’s with Ryan,” I said, cuddling up with a pillow.
“Oh… Okay…?”
She had no idea why I’d be calling her. I didn’t know how to explain myself, either.
“Keke…” I sighed. “I don’t think I ever told you how grateful I am for your help.”
She laughed. “You’ve only thanked me about a hundred times. Have you been drinking?”
“A little. Hanging with friends,” I explained. “But I mean it. You… You’re great. You always know what to do… You really are my guardian angel.”
She laughed harder. “Well, thanks… I’m glad I could help.”
“No… I mean…” I groaned. She wasn’t getting it. She thought I was joking, or I was just saying it because I was drunk. Maybe the alcohol was making it easier to say these things, but it wasn’t the reason. “I’m not saying it right,” I grumbled.
“It’s okay. Get some rest, maybe take a Tylenol.”
I muttered a response and hung up, mad at myself for not doing better. I could do better.
She needed to see me to know how serious I was. This wasn’t like me. I didn’t do heartfelt confessions, but I wasn’t going to let her laugh it off like it was a joke now that I’d finally found cause for one.
I ordered myself an Uber to her place before I even had time to question it. Ryan had given me her address when Jalisa suggested I send her an edible arrangement or something for all the help. Well, I was going to give her something, that was for sure.
The other guys were still downstairs in the living room, drinking and talking, but the stairs went right to the front door where I didn’t have to walk past them, and by the time they heard the door close and figured something was up, I’d already walked to my waiting Uber.
The ride was long enough that by the time the car was dropping me off, I was starting to sober up, starting to question the wisdom of this decision.
But I’d made it this far, I couldn’t back out now.
It was late enough that I figured Keona would be sleeping, so I didn’t ring the bell, just knocked, hoping she’d hear me through her big house.
She wasn’t kidding about having enough money. She must’ve made out really well in the divorce, her house was nearly as big as Ben’s.
“Matt? What are you doing here?” she asked, opening the door in a silky robe that stopped at her knees. I wanted to unwrap her like a Christmas present.
“I needed to see you… Tell you in person… God, you’re beautiful.”
She shook her head, still laughing at me. “And you need some water. Come on,” she said, ushering me in.
“Oh, I need something wet, but it’s not water,” I said, not one of my better pick-up lines. I was drunk and out of practice, more nervous than I ever was. My lines normally only had to work on sure-things. They’d never really been put to the test.
Keke just snorted, rolling her eyes. “You are something else, you know that?”
“Something good?” I asked, hopeful.
“Come on, drink up,” she said, passing me a glass of water. “Tell me what you’re really doing here.”

A late-night phone call was surprising enough. But finding Matt on my doorstep was downright shocking.
I didn’t know what he was doing here, but he was being ridiculously charming. Way too cute for my own good. He kept babbling nonsense and calling me an angel, and as sweet and flattering as it was, I was starting to get worried.
He’d clearly been drinking a lot, and it had brought up some emotions. I couldn’t suppress my maternal instincts, the ones that told me there might be something deeper going on here.
“Is everything okay?” I asked, refilling his water for the third time. “Is this just blowing off some steam, or are you having second thoughts?”
“Second thoughts?”
“About Addie?”
He scoffed. “Hell no. I’ve fallen for that kid so hard… Almost as hard as I’ve fallen for you.”
My heart jumped to my throat, warmth rushing through me. If it wasn’t just a line, it was the kind of thing that would’ve made me melt. But I knew him. Or his type at least. I couldn’t fall for it.
“Matt…”
He stood up suddenly and walked around the kitchen island to stand right in front of me. At least six inches taller than me, broad, muscled, his blue eyes intense. He didn’t look drunk right now. He looked serious. My mouth went dry.
“No. I know you think I’m just talking out of my ass, but I’m serious. You… You’re unlike anyone I’ve been with. You’ve been there when my life turned on its head. Everything that’s happened the last month has made me realize that even though I was forced onto this path, this is the direction I want my life to go. I know you probably don’t want anything to do with me like that, but I needed to… I had to…” He shook his head, getting his words tangled, and my heart ached.
“You think I don’t want anything to do with you?” I gave him an opening.
He shrugged. “Why would you? You’re a freaking masterpiece and I’m just some bozo that doesn’t know how to take care of his own kid.”
My heart beat faster. It was too late to be making good decisions, and with this sexy wall of a man standing two inches away from me, wearing his heart on his sleeve, I didn’t want to make good decisions. I should put an end to this all right here and now, send him on his way and chalk it up to drunken stupidity, but he wasn’t swaying anymore. His eyes were clear, and they were locked onto me.
I didn’t send him away. I kissed him like my life depended on it.
Matt was frozen in shock for about half a second before his brain caught up with what was happening. He let out a low growl and wrapped his arms around me, kissing me deep, making my toes curl against the tile. His hands moved down to my ass, squeezing it tight, and before I knew what was happening, he was lifting me up like it was nothing, putting me on the kit
chen counter, reaching for the tie of my silk robe.
We’d gone from zero to one-hundred pretty damn fast, but I had no interest in hitting the brakes. It felt like this had been building up ever since the first time I stood on his doorstep, and neither one of us wanted to wait anymore now that we’d started.
He kissed down the side of my neck, sucking hard until I moaned, trying to keep quiet so I wouldn’t wake Keona. I opened my legs, wrapping them around his waist, pulling him closer. He pushed the robe off my shoulders, letting the silk pool on the countertop, my entire body bared for him.
“You’re so fucking gorgeous,” he said, hands trying to cover every inch of me at once. My stretch marks didn’t make him slow down, he kissed my c-section scar as lovingly as he did my breasts, sucking on each nipple as his hand moved between my legs. “You know how many times I’ve wondered what you look like when you come?” he murmured, finding my clit with pinpoint precision. I nearly jerked off the counter. It had been years since I’d been touched by something other than myself or silicone.
I forgot how nice a flesh and blood man could be between my thighs.
“How many?” I whispered, sliding my hand down the front of him, settling over the bulge of his cock, big and thick, hard as steel like the rest of him. Could it be possible that this man had everything else and an anaconda in his jeans?
I worked them open, slipped my hand in, and groaned.
Oh yes. More than possible.
“Too many times to count,” he said, circling my clit faster, harder, making my thighs quiver. “But I’m going to find out right now. You’re going to come for me, aren’t you?” he said, this dark, husky tone in his voice that turned me on even more. With his cock in my hand, his fingers working my clit, all it took to push me over the edge was his lips wrapping around one of my nipples, his teeth pinching it.
“Yes,” I moaned, legs tightening as it crashed into me all at once. It hit me like a train out of nowhere, leaving me breathless and trembling there on the kitchen counter, but Matt wasn’t close to done. He didn’t even move his fingers before he pressed his cock against my entrance, the tip teasing me.
“Breathtaking, just like I imagined,” he said, pulling my ass to the very edge of the counter so he was pretty much all that was supporting me. The muscles in his arms and shoulders bulged, but he wasn’t straining, he manhandled me like it was nothing, sliding into me with one deep stroke.
“Oh fuck,” I whisper-groaned, arms wrapped around his neck, face buried in his chest. He felt so good inside me. So much better than I anticipated. So much better than what I had in my treasure chest. It didn’t feel real.
“Yes ma’am,” he said, grinning as he thrust into me again. He fucked me on the counter until I was on the verge of coming again, then decided it wasn’t good enough, lifting me up, walking over to the wall, fucking me against that too. The hard wall against my back gave him better leverage to get deep, and he was hitting buttons I forgot I even had.
“Matt, I’m gonna--”
He kissed me hard, muffling my cries with his mouth, his tongue pushing against mine, his hips relentless.
“You’re gonna wake up your kid if you’re not careful,” he teased once I came down, panting, chest heaving.
“Feels so good,” I muttered, still clinging to him, wanting to revel in the moment.
“Like heaven,” he agreed, walking me to the living room, never putting me down, never taking his dick out of me until he set me on the oversized ottoman. “Turn over. I need to see that juicy ass while I fuck you.”
He was filthy and commanding and I loved it. I didn’t waste a second getting on my hands and knees, and just as soon as I did, Matt was buried inside of me again, both of us groaning, this new angle letting him get even deeper.
I wasn’t sure how much more I could take. Multiple orgasms weren’t a thing I normally sought out with my busy mom life and my body didn’t know what the hell to do as number three started to crest. I knew I wanted him to come too, though, and I clenched tight around him, determined to milk it out of him if I had to.
“God damn, you’re perfect,” he growled, both hands squeezing my ass as he fucked me into incoherence.
“Give me one more,” he said, reaching around to stroke my clit. “I want us to come together.”
It seemed impossible, like there was no way I was even capable of another orgasm right now, but he knew all the buttons to push, all the right things to say, I was locked and loaded, and the minute he filled me with his cum, he pulled the trigger. It rippled through me, the echoes of his orgasm crashing into mine, making one big wave that wouldn’t stop.
He stayed buried inside me while I thrust back on him, fucking myself through the endless waves until finally, I could bring myself down. I long, slow breath, and a deep sigh, every cell in my body humming with satisfaction.
“Well damn,” I said, rolling over after he pulled out of me. “That was… something.”
“If by ‘something’ you mean the best I’ve ever had, then yeah, I agree.”
“You’re just saying that,” I laughed. It was impossible to even be upset about it with all the post-sex endorphins.
“I’m not,” he insisted.
“You’ve had sex with like… a million women.”
“And I had feelings for exactly one of them,” he said, taking my hand, bringing it up to his lips. “I meant what I said. I’m crazy about you, Keke. I feel like you came into my life at the exact right time and I don’t ever want to let you go now.”
My insides fluttered, my sex clenching. I wanted to believe him. I wanted it so badly, but was I setting myself up for disaster?
I didn’t want to give him an answer right now.
“How long before you can do that again?” I asked, sitting up so I was face level with his cock, still semi-hard. It twitched at my question.
“Uh… Five minutes?”
“Good, let’s go upstairs.”
I lost count of how many rounds we went, not to mention how many orgasms he gave me. It was too good to be true, especially with all the sweet words he kept saying -- in between all the dirty ones, of course -- and all the tender kisses, the loving touches that said far more than any words ever could.
Damn him. I think Matthew Williams made me fall for him.

Matt
I had to sneak out of Kendra’s place early so there wouldn’t be any awkward questions from Keona. Even though I left doing the ‘walk of shame’ I didn’t feel any shame. There was just a lot of hope. Dreams of a future where we didn’t have to be secretive at all, and we could all be a family. Me and my three girls.
So quickly I’d gone from not wanting any of those things to it being all I needed. I was already thinking about how I could renovate my apartment to give Keona her own room, to make it more of a family home… Or maybe I should sell it altogether. I was already thinking about a future with Keke, what I’d get her for her birthday -- once I learned when it was -- or Christmas, the trips we could take as a family, the whole damn thing I’d made fun of my brother for.
Karma was definitely a bitch, but I couldn’t even be mad at her.
I couldn’t be mad at anything after the night I had.
It took me a few hours to get back to Ben’s for my car, and then over to Ryan’s for my kid, and by the time I got home, I already had a plan brewing. I didn’t need to come up with excuses to see Keke anymore, so I just invited her over outright.
It took a little bit of convincing, but I finally got her to agree, and quickly made arrangements with the building manager to reserve the rooftop pool just for us. I had some groceries delivered, and by the time Keke and Keona showed up, the grill was going and Addie was in her activity chair, gnawing on one of the new teething toys I bought at Keke’s recommendation. It definitely seemed to help.
“Hi Matt!” Keona said, running over to hug my legs. “Hi Addie!” she added, flitting off to kiss the baby’s head.
“
Hi,” I said to Keke, smiling, desperately wanting to lean in to kiss her, but I knew she wasn’t ready for that. Not in front of Keona at least.
“Wasn’t expecting to hear from you again so soon,” she said, lifting her eyebrows with a smirk.
“Well I couldn’t wait to see you again. How do you like your burgers?”
“Uh… With bacon and too much ketchup. Keona, be careful!” she called while her kid ran around the pool to look through the glass barrier that kept people from falling thousands of feet to the street below. It was waist-high for me, well over Keona’s head, so she was totally safe, but I could see Keke’s nervousness.
“She’s fine. Did you guys bring your bathing suits?”
“She did,” Keke said. I was a little disappointed I wouldn’t get to see her in a bikini, but I’d already seen all of her, so I could hardly complain. “Hey little one, how are you doing?” she asked, bending down to talk to Addie.
“Those gel things have been a lifesaver,” I said.
“Good. Happy babies make happy families,” she said. I wondered if she was counting her and Keona in this little family like I was.
“Mom, can I swim?” Keona asked, already pulling off her dress, which I realized was really more of a cover-up since she was already wearing her bathing suit under it. The kid came prepared. Couldn’t say I was surprised.
“Yeah, go ahead, but you have to get out when the food is ready, okay? No arguing.”
“Yes, ma’am,” she answered, hauling herself down the ladder before swimming to the edge of the pool, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
“And don’t even think about splashing me, young lady,” Keke added.
Keona’s face fell, her plan foiled. I tried not to laugh, but it was hard to hold in when I felt like there was too much happiness inside of me to contain.
For too long my life had been empty and pretty meaningless, then Addie came and taught me about responsibility, Keke came and taught me I’m worth more than I gave myself credit for, and Keona… Well, she was going to teach me all kinds of things, I just knew it. She was a smart cookie, and I wasn’t too proud to be schooled by a second-grader. Everything just felt right when I had these three, and I was determined to make this my reality going forward. I just needed to convince Keke I meant it, that I wasn’t just feeding her some lines because we had fantastic sex.
