Hearts and Arrows Page 8

by Lewis, Tasha

Having my little brother was a surprise for both of my parents. He came along right before Dad’s accident, we were all excited to have him, but then Dad got hurt, so now I pitch in when I can. Meaning, I watch Kaiden the evenings Mom works. I would move back in with them and help a bit more, but the house is too small for the four of us. Three bedrooms and one bathroom just doesn’t work for us anymore. Plus, how do you live with a man who is a ghost of himself and takes his anger out on you?

Best thing I did for myself was move out. They have enough on their plate without me adding more to it.

Before I go into a long list of people, I just want to note that this crazy idea came to me right after being sick with the flu. And I didn’t think there was any way to pull it off as I had three weeks to get everything in order BEFORE Valentine’s Day. But I asked the Universe to come through for me, and boy did she.

Sly Fox agreed to create my cover, but I needed the title like now. As she is usually booked out, but somehow she had a few minutes for my indecisive butt. And girl, you blow my cover out of the water. I freaking love it!

Tracey Vuolo, girl how you have time to beta for all of us authors blows me away. But I love your comments. You provide me with the confidence to keep going.

Anissa Garcia, girl you are a Queen and a life saver. I asked if you knew any editors and you told me you had skills, but we could only work together as long as we kept our friendship intact. All I have to say is that I have a new appreciation for you. Not only do you have skills, but I felt the love you have for me as I was reading through each of your comments. And somehow you got this done and back to me in such a quick turn around! Like a week. I'm still blown away by it.

Jessi Gibson, oh girl where would I be without you? I don’t know, and I don’t ever want to find out! Thank you for always being my cheerleader and keeping me grounded.

Katrina Marie and Kelsie Rae, my girls always there to pick me up and get me going. Who believe in me and help me with all my word choices. I love you both so very much and am grateful for all that you two do for me. Thanks for always believing in me.

Aurora for keeping me on top of everything while I get to write all the fancy words. For keeping me in line and for all your love and support.

My Tribe for always stepping up and being there for me. You all have no idea how nice it is to turn to you for support, insight, and love. I love you all so much. Each and everyone of you!

My dear readers, for showing up every time and loving my words. You make my world go round and round, and allow me to do what I love doing—telling romance stories that make you swoon and sigh. Thank you for your support and love.

Lastly, thank you, Rachel Van Dyken, for posting a prompt in early January. On a day I wasn’t feeling very good and one that I really didn’t want to write. But I figured why not and the next thing I knew a whole new story unfolded in my head and onto my keyboard. You are a rockstar and a goddess.

Want to know the writing prompts that I used? I really couldn’t have done this without them.

Prompt from Rachel Van Dyken 1.16.2019

POV: First person (You ARE this character, you can have up to three, but each new chapter must be a new character)

  Prompt: Valentine’s Day Surprise.

Info: Headed to a party after a horrible breakup, your ex’s best friend finds you loitering outside afraid to go in. He’s always had a crush on you and confesses it before you walk in, then pulls you in for a kiss just as the door opens revealing your ex and the rest of the party goers.

  Prompt from Reedsy.com

Cupid offers to shoot an arrow into the person you love. He warns you that if the person already has a pre-existing affection towards you, it will disappear when the arrow strikes.
