  Dr. Mathew Barnett, MD, always relentlessly teased me that he was the real doctor. Psychiatry was just a cushy job, according to him, certainly not like being a proper M.D. I smile at the thought now. Our virile banter was always a consummate challenge in our relationship.

  He had been an unsung hero, someone who never wanted recognition, but it would all come out now, God, he would hate that. He’d always jumped at any opportunity to help, no matter how treacherous the situation. He lived his life courageously, without question. He often traveled to faraway, dangerous places, like Syria, Honduras, and Somalia. He was medicine’s go-to guy, and he thought he could save the world. The special thing about him was that he actually made you believe he could.

  Growing as an Author takes, time, the desire to learn and the creativeness to find assistance where offered. It’s out there google is your new best friend. I love hearing other people have conversations. Sometimes it doesn’t happen on purpose — you can’t help but overhear people sometimes. If you happen to overhear a snippet of interesting dialog, jot it down in your writing journal as soon as possible. It can serve as a model or inspiration for later writing. Fiction is my favorite, but I’ll devour anything. If you normally read just a couple of your favorite authors, try branching out into something different. You just might find new inspiration. Art, a personal favorite of mine, For the writer aspiring to greater heights, there is no better inspiration that great art, in my experience. While it doesn’t compare to the experience of seeing the art in person, I like to find inspiring works of art and put it on my computer desktop. I’ve found inspiration in Japanese anime, in stuff I’ve found on deviantart.com, in local artists in my area. Best advice writing websites. Every writer needs a toolbox. A writer's toolbox is filled with gadgets and gizmos that help a writer craft a story when he or she cannot do it alone. There are literal writers' toolboxes filled with assorted caffeinated beverages, napkins with plot outlines scribbled on them, and USB devices with novels backed up on them, and then there are metaphorical writers' toolboxes packed with character tics, favorite quotes, and—you guessed it—writing websites.
