“I knew you would make my son happy from the moment I saw you. A woman can sense these things, you know?” The queen had helped her arrange her hair in an elegant up-do and then given her a bouquet of exotic flowers that resembled little golden birds in flight. And now Mayra was speeding in a transport on autopilot to gods knew where to meet her husband to be.
The transport landed, the coordinates Nojan had programmed bringing her to her destination. When the door opened, she was staring out at a field of yellow flowers. Just like my vision.
Nojan was waiting for her, also dressed in white, and gave her a wonderful smile. “Come on,” he said, beckoning to her. “Come join me. It isn’t every day that a man learns he’s about to become a father.”
Mayra peered down, her hands holding a belly that was only faintly rounded. It had only been a few days, but already, the signs of their coupling were there. A child grew inside her. His child.
She smiled radiantly, a carefree laugh slipping from her lips. Then she ran forward, arms outstretched, to the man she loved. When she reached him, she leapt into his arms. He caught her easily and spun her round, laughing and then pulling her in to his kiss.
“I love you, angel,” the Nojan of her reality said.
“I love you too.” It was the first time she’d said those words, but she knew it wouldn’t be the last. Not by a long shot.
His lips seized hers and they kissed, a sweet kiss that made her realize that no other man would ever make her feel the way he did.
That was the point in her vision when the world had exploded in flames. She had to admit to being worried that the man she loved would disappear and that Vartik would burn around her.
Instead, the suns started to set, and as they did, a flock of beautiful maroon butterflies rose from the flowers around them. Mayra laughed, thinking they looked like little flying hearts. It was a beautiful omen for their future together.
She came to comprehend then that she would never fully know what the future would hold. Mayra had her part to play in the final battle, but suddenly, she knew that she could survive it all as long as this man was at her side. They were bound together now for eternity, and they would build a family all their own.
And if anything thought it was going to threaten her family, it would soon learn that Hell hath no fury as an oracle scorned.
“What are you thinking about?” Nojan asked, tilting her face toward his.
“I’m thinking about how happy I feel right now.”
“Good,” he said, nuzzling her throat. “Now let’s get married.”
The End.

One year. That’s all I get before I’m to step up as rightful king of my people.
A people believed to be extinct by the surrounding worlds.
Even though I’m the eldest and most responsible, I’m in need of an adventure and a beautiful woman to help keep my blood warm.
Finding a human thief who needed a transport around the galaxy was not part of the plan, but once I laid eyes on her, I knew she was mine.
She might plan on ripping me off and not paying up on her half of the bargain, but that’s all right. I don’t only want her body.
I want everything she’s got to offer.
Forever.
