  “What are they from?”

“I have no idea,” he said honestly. He wasn’t sure of his own name. Her body was magic. Her lips quirked. “I need to see you.”

  “Then undress me.”

She was giving him control. His cock jerked and she gasped at the feel of it.

“It won’t happen often,” she said. “But right now, Nameer...I’m yours to take however you want.”

He yanked her shirt off and watched her breasts bounce as she worked herself down on him. It was much more frustrating between layers of cloth, but the tension on her face was beautiful. She looked as though she was aching as he had.

He pushed off of the wall and dropped her down onto the table. He stripped off her pants and saw for himself how wet she was. His mouth was watering, the tiger inside roaring for a taste of its mate. Nameer dropped to his knees and began licking her.

Kyla lifted her hips, shoving her pussy into his face. “Yes! Oh, Nameer, yes, just like that!” The tip of his tongue on her throbbing clit was exactly what she needed...and then he stopped. “No! Please, I need to come!”

He raised his head, his eyes wicked. “Do you know how long I’ve needed to come?” He flipped her over, his tongue drawing mind shatteringly erotic designs up the back of her legs, her inner thighs, the small of her back, all the way up to her neck. By the time he reached her ears, Kyla was almost sobbing as she begged for him.

He shoved his pants down and took his straining cock in his hand, gripping it tightly so that he could make sure to tease her as he wanted. His beautiful Kyla was lifting her hips off of the table, arching her back, begging for him to take her. Her hands were tight on the edges of the table, her knuckles white. Her lips were parted as she panted. Sweat had plastered strands of hair to her face and neck. She was undone. Because of him.

“How should I fill you?” he asked. “Would you like it this way? Bent over to take me deep?”

  “Yes!”

He caught her hips and thrust forward, every inch of his cock gloved by her sweet pussy. She threw her head back and screamed. He caught her by the throat again. With his other hand, he gripped her hair, holding her head back as he fucked her. He stayed deep, feeling how slick she was.

Kyla held onto the desk, her clit throbbing. She would have given anything to reach down, but she’d told Nameer he could have her however he wanted. Her pussy was filled to the capacity and gasped at how deep his cock plunged.

“Or,” he said, pulling out and spinning her around. “Maybe you on your knees with my cock down your throat?”

He waited the millisecond it took to see permission in her eyes before he pushed her down and pushed between her lips. She moaned as she sucked him.

“Is that pleasure or emptiness?” he asked raggedly.

She spoke around her mouthful of rigid cock. “Both.”

“You want to touch yourself, don’t you?”

She nodded frantically and waited for permission. It didn’t come. He only smiled down at her and said, “Suck me deeper.”

This time when she moaned, his knees went weak with the vibration. He yanked her to her feet when he felt moisture beading at the tip of his swollen cock.

“Wrap your legs around me as you did before,” he said roughly. “I would have you come for me now.”

She did as he said and he reached down between them, teasing the slippery lips of her pussy for a few moments before filling her again. He went slowly this time, giving her time to feel every ridge.

“This is so swollen,” he said, pinching her clit lightly between his finger and thumb.

“I need to come,” she gasped. “Nameer, please, please, fuck me, please rub me!”

He shoved into her so hard that her voice hitched. “Is this how my mate wants to be taken?”

It was the first time he’d called her that, but she couldn't deal with it. Not when he was buried deep and still stroking her clit. “Yes! Hard, fast, whatever you want, just let me come!”

He rubbed her eager clit as he fucked her desperately. When her orgasm began, she screamed. When it didn’t stop, she was amazed.

“Nameer!” she gasped, looking at him with wide eyes. “It won’t stop!”

“You’ll stop when I fill you,” he growled. “But I want you to know what it’s like to be the mate of a king. You’ll come till you beg.”

She writhed, pinned on his length, as her body rode wave after wave. His jaw was tight, but his eyes never left her as she came for him. He’d cupped her breasts, tweaking her nipples. Her clit was still spasming on its own. Her pussy clenched him till he snarled in desire. She had no idea how long she came, how long she thrashed against him, but finally she said, “I can’t take more! Nameer, please, come with me!”

  “You’re sure?”

Her body bucked helplessly as she came again. “Oh, oh, my god! It’s so good, Nameer, I love your cock, I love your cock....”

He couldn’t wait anymore. He grabbed her throat, shoved her up to take her mouth and fucked her mercilessly, smacking her against the wall as her nails raked down his back.

“I’m coming,” he whispered. “Ah, Kyla, I’m coming for you.”

She gave one final scream as her last orgasm, fueled by his, was the strongest of all. “I can feel you coming too,” she gasped.

His big body only shuddered in response, but she knew the same thing was happening to him. He turned, putting his own back to wall, and sat down. He was still inside her and she was still spasming around him. Nameer cupped the back of her neck, bringing her face to his chest.

“I will protect you,” he said roughly. She drew back to look at him and his lips quirked. “Even if you don’t need it,” he finished.

“They’ve chose to expedite your trial since you’ve been so vocal about the toxin,” Khaza said from the cell door. “Come with me and you’ll go before the jury.”

“Who’s defending her?” Danny asked, standing up as well. It had been over a week and his bruises were mostly faded. He still carried himself a little stiffly, he was on the mend.

“She will defend herself,” Khaza said, his eyes worried. “You must prepare yourself. This will not be easy, and losing your temper will do no good.”

“I’ll give it my best shot.”

She was surprised when Danny was allowed to accompany her, but she was also extremely relieved. They all stopped outside the door to the tribunal and Kyla was embarrassed to find herself shaking. Danny pressed something into her hand.

“If it doesn’t go well for you,” he whispered.

It was the time travel device. She’d thought that she’d lost it when the guards had dragged her back to Khaytab.

  “What about you?”

“You’ll come back in a year or two and grab me, right?” The smile he tried for faded and he put his arms around her while Khaza looked the other way. “Seriously, Kyla. It’s not as dangerous for me just because I’m a man. Do what you need to do.”

  “What’s going on?” Nameer asked.

“Strategy meeting,” Danny said bluntly. “Unless you want her to meet the gallows in a few hours.”

“Of course I don’t,” Nameer said, pulling her away. “I also don’t want her to be late. It’s a sign of disrespect.”

“Isn’t that true of everything a woman does?” Danny asked, relinquishing his hold.

Nameer didn’t bother to answer. They walked into the courtroom and took seats.

A grim looking older man stood and said, “My name is Fasheed, and I am presiding over this tribunal. The woman here before us stands accused of impersonating a man and rising above her station. Our first witness is Darabin, Captain of the Guard.”

“It is my honor to serve Khaytab by exposing this fraud,” the guard captain began with a malicious smile.

Kyla had bitten her tongue so many times before Darabin’s testimony was over that she tasted blood. It had been nothing but lies start to finish. Oddly, it gave her hope that he
d insinuated that she had prior knowledge of the attack on the king last year. At least it put Nameer in the clear. Of course it made no sense. If she’d been working with Seeba, why would they have exposed her that way? Unless they were planning it that way from the beginning. Kyla frowned, deep in thought. Maybe she could play up that angle and save Nameer’s throne.

Next, they called a few men that she had never really known that well. The evidence they produced was circumstantial and foolish, but she could tell that the tribunal was taking it seriously. They practically accused her of witchcraft.

Khaza took the stand after the last of them had had their say. “Bidani...Kylaherine, that is...has been a fine comrade in arms since she came to Khaytab,” he said in his quiet, steady voice. “The fact that she is a woman has had no bearing on her skills, her courage, or the fact that she has saved our king.” Here he bowed to Nameer, who inclined his head in return. “Our king has allowed us to make some small strides to help our women live better lives, why would we ignore a woman who proves that, in other worlds, they already do?”

A general roar of speech ran through the crowd. “Silence!” Fasheed called. “Silence!”

Nameer held up his hand. “I would speak to you.”

Silence fell and everyone turned to him. “I see suspicion in some of you,” he acknowledged. “I know that many wonder whether I knew Kyla was a woman before our relationship began. Many of you wonder why I hid the truth, and what else I’m hiding.”

He squared his shoulders. “Our sexual relationship did not begin until after I knew she was a woman.” He looked at her. “But I did find her attractive before that.” He raised his hand to quell the rising tide of voices. “There are many things in Khaytab that are forbidden...things I have punished people for without thinking. I will not do these things again. From now on, our laws will be followed because they are what is right, not what has always been done. I will not hide my love for my mate, and I will not allow women to continue being treated as they have. Depose me if you like. You can certainly feel free to try.”

He crossed his arms over his chest and stared at the crowd gathered in the room. The set of his jaw was firm and his eyes were serious, but he didn’t look angry. Only powerful.

“Who in Khaytab will stand with me? Who will help make this a new age?”

Khaza was already on his feet. Afani pushed through the crowd to stand with him. Beside him. He glanced down at her and she smiled up at him. Kyla was shocked to see that she was holding a baby. A little girl.

Other women joined them, other men as well. Soon the majority of the crowd stood with Nameer. He looked at the Fasheed. “Well? Does this satisfy you that my rule is suited to our people’s needs?”

The judge nodded. Other people were still trickling over to stand with Nameer and Kyla. One of them, a beautiful woman who moved slowly, as if in pain, was edging through. Darabin reached over and grabbed her arm, wrenching her back so hard that she cried out.

Danny grabbed Darabin’s free hand, twisted it behind his back, and kicked the guard captain in the back of the knee, dropping him to the ground. “If I see you touch her again,” he said. “You’ll answer to me.” He looked at the woman. “Go ahead,” he said kindly.

She looked from Danny to her husband, who was sweating with pain and daring her with his eyes.

“Lirana,” Darabin hissed. “You stay here.”

“Lirana,” Danny said speculatively. “That’s probably the prettiest name I’ve heard the whole time I’ve been here. Go on. I think Kyla’s waving to you.”

After a second of indecision, Lirana joined Afani and Kyla. Nameer walked over to where Danny still stood.

“That’s my guard captain,” he said.

“Yeah? You need a better one.”

  “Are you applying?”

Danny looked down. “Love to. Can’t guarantee you long term, but at least till things settle down and we find that vial. Like to also get some women’s defense classes going. Got a few other ideas when you’ve got time.”

Nameer looked surprised, but Kyla laughed.

“You won’t regret this, Nameer. Let’s get this crowd dispersed and then we’ll have a meeting. We’ve got a lot to do.”

  ******

It was several hours before things were settled. Afani had accompanied Khaza back to the castle and Danny had made sure that Lirana was with them. He didn’t want Darabin close enough to take out his anger on her. Kyla had gotten her settled into a guest room before coming back down.

“Let’s get started,” Nameer said. “The people in this room are my new advisory panel, effective immediately.”

Afani’s mouth dropped open and Khaza put his hand on her shoulder, giving her a proud grin.

“We have several objectives,” Nameer went on. “Outlined by my new guard captain.” He inclined his head at Danny who gave a quick salute. “And my...and Kyla.” She nodded as well. He hadn’t called her his mate that time. She was glad to have a few moments to think it over.

“We need a task force for the toxin retrieval,” Nameer said.

Kyla’s hand shot up. “I want that.”

“Why you?” Nameer asked, surprised. He hadn’t even gotten to the things he’d expected her to be most excited about.

“Because the toxin won’t affect me,” she said. “I know I’ll have to have other people, but I’d like to head up the investigation.”

“All right,” Nameer said slowly. “We also need a women’s advisory board and someone to lead it.”

After a moment of silence, Afani spoke. “I would like to do that, my lord.”

She’d addressed the table, and her face was flushed, but she’d done it. Khaza took her hand.

“Of course,” Nameer said. “And last, we need to train some women to fight.”

“I’d take that,” Danny said. “And maybe Khaza could help me out, in case some of them might feel more comfortable with somebody who isn’t...” he grinned and shrugged. “Well, someone from their own world. He could help with the shapeshifting combat stuff too. I won’t be much good there.”

Khaza nodded. “That sounds like a fine plan to me.”

They all put their heads together over a schedule of events and Nameer showed them all where their new rooms would be. Kyla was surprised to see that he’d given her own bedroom, but she was relieved too.

She walked up the stairs with Danny. His room was a floor lower than hers, and she walked him to the door.

“Keep expecting to wake up,” he admitted.

“It was like that for me at first too,” Kyla reassured him. “Get some rest, it’s not every day that we escape death.”

“Kyla,” Danny called as she turned to walk away.

  “Yeah?”

“You’re sure about this? I mean...he seems like an okay guy, but you’re literally from different worlds. And his is...well...”

“Crazy?” she supplied. “I know. But you know I can take care of myself.”

“Yeah. But I hope you don’t have to. You know I’m right here.”

She understood that he was offering a little more than a shoulder to cry on. “I know. Thanks, Danny.”

  “Night, Kyla.”

  “Night.”

She dragged herself up the next flight of stairs and pushed open the door to a truly charming room. It was almost as nice as Nameer’s. There was a huge four poster bed and a large window with a view of the mountains. The corner was taken up by a massive tub. He’d remembered.

Kyla turned on the taps and undressed as she waited. She’d had to wear a dress for her court appearance, but she’d be contacting a tailor as soon as she could to get some pants made. She couldn’t wear her uniform forever.

She was twisting her hair up when there was a knock at the door.

  “Who is it?” she called.

“Me,” Nameer answered. “Do you have a moment?”

His voice was stiff, the way it always got when he was being polite. She grinned and opened
the door. His eyes widened and he stepped in quickly, slamming the door with one hand as he pulled her against him with the other.

“Like what you see?” she asked against his eager mouth.

  “Always.”

When she was breathless, he raised his head. “You should probably turn off the water.”

“Shit!” Kyla sprinted over and did as he’d suggested. The tub was full nearly to the brim.

“Go ahead,” Nameer said with a smile. “As long as I can stay and talk with you while you bathe.”

Kyla eased herself into the tub. “Of course.”

Nameer pulled up a chair and dropped down into it. For a while, he didn’t speak. He only lounged, watching her wash herself. It was unexpectedly erotic to be so openly admired.

“I was surprised that you didn’t want to help with the women’s army,” he admitted after a while. “But I see your reasons for going after the toxin. I just...I need to know that you’ll be careful.”

Kyla stood and began to soap herself. “I will. I don’t want to die any more than you want me to die, after all.”

He gave a distracted murmur of agreement as she cupped her breasts, her slick fingers sliding over her nipples. When his gaze stayed there, they hardened for him.

“I like this,” he said, his voice low. “It reminds me of our first night. You touching yourself like that...”

“Do you think about it a lot?” she asked teasingly.

“You have no idea,” he said seriously. “You came into my kingdom. You lied about who you were. You turned my social order upside down. You have caused rifts in more houses than just mine. And yet...” Nameer’s bright eyes grew tender. “I cannot imagine my life without you. I have called you my mate, but I know that you do not know what that means.”

Kyla knelt in the tub to rinse off the soap and he pulled his chair closer, looking down at her earnestly. “I understand from what we know of your people that mates do not exist on Earth. A mate is one who completes you. Who fills you.” He frowned, frustrated. “It’s not easy to explain.”

  “Do you love me, Nameer?”

He looked taken aback. “Of course I do.”
