The Revelations of Jace Forester Page 5

by Rachelle Mealove

As if on the memory of the CominCafe fire incident, Jace suddenly noticed another fuel tanker parked just outside the street.

It was just like the one that exploded that day, red and full with dangerous flammable fuel.

  What an irony

“So let me make this clear” said Blardan who was surrounded by his hideous looking monsters or Zealots. His eyes were grayer than ever and his wings were outstretched “You will have to kill any one from these three. If you do not do so in the following minute, I will kill all three of them right here in front of you”

Jace couldn’t kill any of them.

The thought disgusted him to his very core.

Owens’ eyes were pleading Jace not to. The Griffin would rather be dead than let the name of the Angels be tarnished.

“You don’t have all night” said Blardan “Here I’ll help”

He reached his hand towards one of the blob Zealots.

As if by instinct, a sword came out of the jelly-body of the zealot instantly, made from the material his body was made from.

He gave to Blardan, who in turn threw it at Jace.

The touch disgusted him. The sword was warm and gooey, but it was sharp and hard enough to cut through flesh easily

  Jace looked baffled.

Did the Demon actually expect him to take a life with this sword?

  I can’t do this

  Jace’s hands started shaking.

He felt completely useless. And now he was going to make it worse.

Blardan grabbed Joey’s head and squeezed

“I said” He said ever so slowly, making his voice even more deadly “that we do not have all night”

“Stop” Jace screamed in reflex “Stop I’ll do it stop hurting him stop”

  Blardan moved his hand

Only to reveal blood tripping from Joey’s head

The fat seventeen year old seemed as if he would pass out any moment.

  Jace had no choice

“Owens” he said and looked at the gray eyes of Blardan. Indeed he was the embodiment of evil

Blardan kicked the poor Griffin who was already bloody. He fell right in front of Jace.

He looked up with sad eyes.

“Don’t do it you’re going to ruin everything sir” he said in a broken voice, spilling blood on the street.

  Jace couldn’t bear it.

He hugged Owens in a tight embrace

For a moment, Joey with thought he saw Jace whisper something in Owens’ ear, but then decided it was just a hallucination. He did have a Demon give his head a squeeze just a minute ago.

But Jace did whisper something into Owens’ ear

  Owens was confused at first.

“I can’t” he whispered so slowly that even Jace could hear him barely “I can’t let you do it sir”

“What are you two fussing about just get over it” spat Blardan from behind Owens.

But Jace had his mind set up.

  It was the only way.

It was the only thing he could do

Jace Forester was the only thing between chaos and order.

According to Griffin, if anyone with the Holy blood killed an innocent, chaos shall be unleashed

The reputation of Angels shall be compromised

The Demons shall have their way once again

And Jace stood there, between the Demons and Angels.

How could chaos be unleashed if there was no willing Halfling there anymore to kill?

No Demon could manipulate Violet of Owens to take a life; both had been trained and didn’t have loved ones

Jace on the other hand was an easy target for blackmail

What if there was no target anymore?

Jace took a slow breath, as if he was about to start meditating.

  He closed his eyes

When he opened them, time had slowed down.

I’m getting the hang of this

Then everything that took place afterwards was a blur for Jace

He threw the Demon sword at Blardan who caught it midair with ease. He made a disapproving face.

But the expression turned to shock as Owens raised both his hands.

This time it wasn’t lightning, but smoke.

Just as Jace had told him to

Owens had somehow managed to smoke the whole street with his powers

Jace wondered what energy he used

He witnessed Owens faint and fall imply on the street

  He was out of fuel

  Jace didn’t have much time

  He needed to act now

Blardan swayed his wing lazily and the smoke cleared

HE saw the Griffin lying in the floor

  Jace wasn’t there anymore

Violet was starting to regain consciousness

“You can’t hide” Screamed Blardan with a booming voice “Have you forgotten; thanks to my spy I know everything about you”

  “Yeah I’m sure you do”

  Replied Jace

He was on the other side of the street now.

Leaning on the red fuel truck he had noticed earlier

  “You won’t” blurted Blardan

“You really think so, Demon” said Jace with a confident voice now “You forget I have the blood of Angels in me”

Jace punched a hole in the truck, completely penetrating the material

The truck was huge, way larger than that which burned CominCafe

  “NOOO” screamed Blardan.

At that moment exactly, Owens got his head up

  Yes his awake

He nodded his head as he met Jace’s Atlantic blue eyes

He was ready to use his powers again

“I will need a few seconds to come back to consciousness. You have to wait until then” he had whispered in Jace’s ear when Jace had briefly told the Griffin his plan

He could keep Violet and Joey safe from the fire

  He controlled it

Jace brought out the lighter from his pocket

“NOO” Blardan screamed again and he went flying at Jace

He was swooping midway in air when Jace ignited it and kissed the fire to the fuel

In a fraction of a second, the whole street erupted in dazzling flames.

An explosion so violent it scorched the street completely

The flames burned, just like they did in Hell.

  Chapter 6

A week passed and Joey found himself sharing a French fry with Violet in McDonald’s. He never asked her real name.

  “I miss CominCafe” he said

“Geez that’s the only thing you miss you gumball” Violet replied

“Nay” Joey’s voice went down “I miss Jace too”

It was a cloudy evening. The aftermaths of the battle hadn’t been kind to either of the two.

Jace’s mother was still in shock after she heard her son had burnt to death, and rightly so.

It had taken her almost a day to talk again after she had heard the news about her son.

“I can’t believe he actually did that” Violet remarked

“What’s there not to believe” said Joey “It was the only way he had. He always had it in him, that self-righteous ass”

“You don’t understand. He just left us. Just like that”

“You don’t have to feel guilty Vi. If he were alive I’m sure he would’ve understood your circumstances just like I did”

“He hated me before he died. How am I suppose to live with it”

Joey had no answer to this

They had both been struck hard with Jace’s death

Joey had cried for days locked in his bedroom

It all happened so fast that he was having a hard time accepting reality

“So, you’re going back today? Back to that Castel of yours”

“Yes. I failed my mission Joey. I don’t have anywhere else to go now’

“You can stay with me, I mean us” he quickly added “You don’t have to go you know”

  Violet gave a wry smile

She kissed Joey’s left cheek, brushing it with her soft lips

Joey flushed. He didn’t expect that.

“We’ll meet again Joe” said Violet

“I sure hope so” he said

Just as she was about to leave, her phone vibrated

  She saw a text

  From a very familiar number

Her heart started racing and she almost dropped the cell as she started reading the text

“Who is it Violet?” Joey sounded tensed and scared at the same time

But Violet stood up and jumped don top of the table

She started dancing as if she were in a disco

The audience was watching her with horror and confusion

She passed the phone to Joey, who started reading the text

  It was Jace’s number

  It read the following

Don’t reply to this. Don’t ask me how I survived. Don’t ask me how I escaped Blardan. I will tell you all about it when we meet again; in Castel

Yes, I’m finally going there with Owens. By the time you read this text I will already be there. I feel like it is my destiny to harness my powers and find out the truth

There were aspects of that night one week ago that I still don’t have any clue about: The lighter in my pocket and the fuel truck which had no business being parked there at midnight.

I also need to find out who the spy is and how Blardan knew so much about me.

I need to learn my strengths and exact revenge on him and make him pay for everything he did to us.

  Until we meet again.

P.s: I’m still mad at you for betraying me

The only thing Joey Moreno said before joining Violet who was now dancing on the table like a drunken maniac was

“Jace Forester you son of a bitch”
