“We can visit lots, but Hereford is home now, and Zack offered me a job at Fortis.”
“He did? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I wanted to be sure first.”
“So, we’re really doing this? We’re moving to the UK?”
“Yes, if that’s what you want.”
“It is.” She kissed him then, with every ounce of feeling inside her, showing him with her body how she felt about him because words didn’t seem enough.
Mustique woke each morning wondering if she could love this man more, and each day she found she did. That wasn’t to say she didn’t want to kill him sometimes. They fought, and they argued, but ultimately, they loved, and they supported each other in everything because they knew what it was like to almost lose the person who meant the world to you.
They strolled outside, the sun shining high in the sky as the kids celebrated the end of an era for them. Their lives would now begin as adults, and, as Mustique watched, her daughter hugged Kate Craven and then turned and give her a dazzling smile that was so much like her own.
She realized life didn’t always give you what you thought you wanted but what you truly needed. Without Ben, she wouldn’t have had Leonie, and without Leonie being snatched from her, she would never have met Ash. With bad there always eventually came good, and, sometimes that good was so bright, it banished the bad to the past where it belonged.
