“Why would I go against her?” He finished his sentence.”

  “Yeah…”

“Because I can no longer enjoy my life knowing that there are hundreds of men and women who are being kept as prisoners around the world. She sells them as human blood bags or for someone’s sick pleasure.”

Fay unlocked his smart phone and read to himself a text message from Klayton. He then looked up at Nero and asked, “Are we still heading to Miami?”

“Yeah. The bookkeeper should not have relocated, so we are going there first. He keeps a record of all the money and property that she owns, and also the location of the people that are being hidden until they are sold off to the highest bidders.”

Fay finished eating the last of his pancake. “Well, I’m fully charged. What am I doing for this mission?”

“Dante, Antonio, and Mila are staying back to protect the yacht. Klay, Ethan, you, and me will take care of the bookkeeper.”

“Find the bookkeeper, get the info then kill Kayla.” Mila summarized.

In a private property, there was a lake house owned by a man named Patrick, and he was Kayla’s most valuable key player in her organization. As her bookkeeper, he was tasked with taking care of her organization’s income, expenditure and its budget.

Klayton and the rest of the team were hoping to find journal entries, records of payments, financial transactions and anything else that would help them bring her down.

For this mission, it was only Klayton, Ethan, Nero, and Fay. Everyone else stayed back and waited as planned.

Now that it was late in the evening, Ethan and Nero used the darkness as a tactical advantage to blend in with the night. Both men were using sniper rifles and were using their weapon’s scopes to keep an eye on Klayton and Fay who had just made it to the lake’s shore undetected. Klayton had swam underwater from an unseen distance to the lake house, while Fay did the same while using a spell that he casted onto himself in order for him to hold his breath for as long as he needed to.

From their current location, the men protecting the bookkeeper were not able to see the warlock or the werewolf. Fay looked at Klayton, “Ready?”

“Okay, we can’t see you guys anymore. Pretty badass. I see two at the door, but we can’t see anyone by the rear. We should have positioned ourselves apart.” Nero said thru the mic.

“Okay.” Klayton whispered. He had been carrying a backpack, and inside it, there was a Kel-Tec KSG shotgun and a pistol. Each were covered in wrap film that unwrapped and then handed the shotgun to Fay. “Do not hesitate.”

Fay nodded and casted another spell, this one shielded Klayton from anyone’s eyesight. Fay closed his eyes and groaned as the amount of magic that he had just used was burning his body from the inside.

Klayton began to run as fast as possible, and right as he was ten feet away from the bodyguards, the spell wore off.

When the guards aimed their assault rifles at him, Ethan and Nero pulled the trigger from their sniper rifles and each buried a bullet inside the skulls of the men in front of Klayton. As they felt to the floor, Klayton leapt to the roof of the two story house.

Inside, Patrick was reading a book when he heard the gunshots and then the loud thudding sound that came from the roof. He got up from his chair, just as Dominic, the man tasked with protecting him, entered the room.

“What the hell is going on?” Patrick demanded to know.

“You need to come with me, now!” He yelled with urgency.

Dominic and Patrick went to the living room, where the last remaining bodyguards were aiming at the door, waiting for the unwanted guest to walk in.

“What the hell are you waiting for? Go outside and kill the sons of bitches who are attacking us!” Patrick yelled to his bodyguards.

The two men nodded and began to head outside. After the second man exited the house, Klayton jumped on him and then quickly shot him on the back of his head. As the guard in front of him turned around, Klayton shot him three times.

Dominic and Patrick were using the distraction to head to the basement. Dominic grabbed his smart phone from his pocket and dialed someone. Three rings passed before the person answered “Yeah? I’m on my way back. What happened?”

  “Garrett! How far are you?”

“Five minutes. Why are you freaking out?”

“We are under attack. I don’t know who it is, I- “

“Relax, I gave you some of my best soldiers.”

“Only people alive are Patrick and myself!”

“Go to the safe room and stay there. I’m one traffic light away from you.”

Klayton had stayed in the living room, listening to the conversation. He then spoke to Ethan and Nero from his Bluetooth. “You guys hear that?”

“The guy that we have been hunting down for a month is coming to us. Do I tell Dante?”

“Nero, I need you to come over here. Ethan, take Fay back to the boat. When you get there, tell Dante. This is it. We came for Kayla’s records to bring her down, but we have another chance to kill Garrett. We kill him now and then we will have one less Elite to worry about.”

Ethan left his sniper and ran towards Fay who was a mile away. He got there in one minute, at the same time as Nero had reached the house.

“They are inside a safe room. No way in or out unless they want to.” Klayton told Nero when he arrived.

“What do you want to do?”

“You can control your heartbeats, right?”

  “Yeah.”

Ten minutes passed before Garrett arrived in a black SUV, and he had with him three more similar cars accompanying him, each containing four tactical men who had vampirism in them.

Garrett exited the vehicle and buttoned up his suit. He ordered his men to stay outside of the house and wait for his command to enter if he needed aid.

Once he entered the house, he was met with Klayton sitting down on a sofa chair, staring at him. The vampire looked the same as the night that he changed Klayton and Dante’s life forever.

“Which one are you?” His facial expressions were emotionless.

  Klayton said nothing.

“You screwed the wrong person. You have no idea what Kayla and I are capable of.” He was beginning to feel agitated because he was getting no response from Klayton.

  Klayton grinned.

Irritated, Garrett began to unbuttoned his suit, remove it, and then he gently place it on another couch. He then unbuttoned his cufflinks and after placing them in his pockets, he rolled up his sleeves. “I’m going to beat the living hell out of you, wipe that grin off your face, and kill you just how I killed that bitch you’ve been killing my soldiers over.

Suddenly, there was a lot of gunshots coming from outside. Garrett and Klayton could hear the men screaming, yelling, grunts and then silence.

Confused, Garrett turned, and opened the door, where he then stepped outside. “Who the hell- “ He saw the dead bodies on the floor, all of them his people. He then glanced at the person responsible for the massacre; Nero.

“You?! After everything that Kayla did for you- “

A sudden force pushed Garrett outside. He felt to the floor and screamed as he felt claws scratch his back. He turned and kicked Klayton away who was now in his werewolf form.

Nero charged with a blade at Garrett, but missed as Garrett rolled to the side. He then got up, only to get tackled by Klayton, who then tried to bite his face off to end it quickly.

Garrett deflected his quick bites and then punched him hard to the side, pushing Klayton to the floor.

Nero took advantage and jumped on top of Garrett and stabbed him in the shoulder. Garrett winced in pain and scratched Nero on his eyes with his long claws. Nero got up and trid to wipe the blood out of his eyes that was burning him.

Garrett got up and landed a heavy set of punches to Nero’s gut and then hit his jaw.

As Nero began to feel fatigued, Klayton had turned back into his human
form and had grabbed one of the fallen vampire’s pistol.

He unloaded the whole clip on Garrett’s back, giving Nero enough time to unsheathed the machete from his waist and then swinging his arm sideways; removing Garrett’s head from his torso.

As the body felt to the ground, Klayton and Nero stared at each other in disbelief. Both felt compelled to say something, but they acknowledge the seriousness of the situation and just nodded to each other.

Klayton went inside first and grabbed his tactical backpack that he had left next to the couch. He opened it and grabbed the backup clothes that he had placed inside. After putting them on he let Nero know so that he could come inside the house.

Nero handed Klayton an assault rifle that he picked up from one of the dead vampires from outside. He was also carrying one for himself. “Let’s get the bookkeeper.”

“Got him right here for you.” Dominic said as he walked into the room. He had the barrel of his pistol pressed against Patrick's side temple. They noticed that he had a backpack on him.

Unknown to them, he had stolen all the money from the safe room that totaled to two hundred thousand dollars. Nero and Klayton raised their assault rifles at them.

  “Please don’t!” Yelled Patrick.

  “Shut up!” Dominic said.

“You don’t have to do this- “

“I said shut up! All of you! You dumb asses shoot and I will make sure that a bullet exits my gun and buries itself in his goddamn temple before I hit the floor!”

“The hell do you want? Aren’t you supposed to be protecting him?” Nero said.

“After the botch job that you two caused, I’m a dead man walking.”

“Look, dude. You’re not on the list. Leave the man and get the hell out of our sight.” Nero said.

Patrik spoke up, “What the hell man, I thought that we were good.”

“Just shut up!” Dominic removed the safety lock from his gun, then he aimed his gun directly at them back and forth between the two, allowing Patrik enough time to elbow Dominic’s stomach. Dominic groaned in pain, and in the moment his gun went off. He missed and Nero tackled him.

Dominic tried to reach for his gun that had fallen on the floor close to him but Patrik grabbed it, aimed at Dominic’s direction and shot him in the face. Nero got off Dominic and then Patrk aimed the gun at him.

“Oh, for God’s sake.” Klayton said.

“I just want to live. I have Kayla’s number. I’ll call her right now.”

Nero looked at Klayton who gave him the okay. “Call her, but put her on speaker.”

Patrik nodded and handed the gun to Klayton. He then took out his smart phone from his pocket and called. A few seconds later, someone answered.

“What? Are you guys already heading back?”

“Kayla? They killed Garrett and- “

Klayton snatched the phone away from him.

“Hey. It’s Klayton, one of the guys who has been making your life a living hell for the last couple of months.

“From where I’m laying down, it feels like I am in heaven” Kayla was resting on a bed, while two women massaged her lower back and feet. “I’m okay, Klayton, are you?”

Klayton walked around the room while Nero kept his gaze at Patrik. “I’m good. Really. But you have been playing hard to get. And I am stubborn man.”

“A man who has killed and burned down a lot of things close to my heart.”

“I just wanted your attention. That was the plan today. To find where you are, and convince you to hand over to us Garrett.”

“But Patrik said that you killed him.”

“I did, and now I want to call a truce.”

  There was a long pause.

“Are you there? We are about to grab everything that could incriminate you, so you might as well cooperate with me.”

“Klayton. While you think that you are three steps ahead of me, you are actually ten steps behind.”

  “What do you mean?”

“Patrik is a decoy. A guy who I promised to turn into a vampire if he just played the part of the bookkeeper.”

  “No. that’s not true- “

“It is. The guy who keeps track of my stuff is living in a penthouse, with millions of dollars, and any woman or man that he desired gets sent to his room whenever he asks. State of the art, twenty four seven security, bullet-proof glass windows and his daughters are going to the best colleges in the States. You have nothing on me.”

“No. We do. You are trying to throw us off.”

“I, on the other hand, have dirt on every single one of you thanks to Mason, one of my best soldiers.”

  “We killed him.”

“You are going to pay for a lot of shit Klayton. I can start with your friend or uncle or whatever the hell you want to label him as. With one phone call, I could have one of my people that I planted in his little retirement cruise vacation, kill him and then throw him overboard.”

Or how about Amber’s little baby brother? You remember Jake, don’t you? I have a vampire ready and waiting, parked across the diner where he works at.”

“Alright, you made your point. What do you want?”

“We are going to have a sit-down. You, your brother, and Nero.”

Klayton looked at Nero. They had made sure that it was never going to be leaked about his alliance with the Kordovahs. It was an advantage that he wanted to use for as long as possible.

“Ah. Judging by your silence, I guess that my theory about him is true.” She said.

Nero said nothing, already accepting his fate, whatever it may be.

Klayton took a deep breath. “Where and when do we meet?”

“guess I’ll just text this number.”

After Kayla ended the phone call, Klayton stared at the phone in disbelief while Nero complained to himself.

“This whole ‘effing time we thought that we were winning, that we were always one step ahead of her by being patient and tactful, and in the end, it had all amounted to nothing helpful since she played us.” Klayton said.

“We got a lot of money from every base that we hit, and, we killed Garrett. Let’s just regroup with your brother and see where we go from there.”

Klayton agreed and they called Ethan to see how was Fay. He was in stable condition but in a magic induced coma in order to heal. Ethan had used their getaway car and had left to take him to their base.

After he finished talking to Ethan, he then called his brother to warn him about everything that Kayla had on them.

They decided to steal one of the back SUVs that belonged to now a dead bodyguard that they had killed. As they were walking away and leaving the house, Patrik stopped them. “Hey, what about me?”

  “What?”

“Can one of you turn me into a vampire?”

“Get all the money that is in the base, help us collect all the guns from your fallen buddies and any other place that you may see one at, and then I’ll turn you.”

Klayton, Dante and Nero were parked across the street from the restaurant that Kayla had told them to go to. It was high end, and around this time of the evening, it should be filled with people, but it was empty except for the staff members.

“I’m assuming that she bought out place for us.” Dante said.

“We sure about this?” Nero asked.

“Too much blood has been shed. If we can figure out a way to end this peacefully, then we should give it a try. At least listen to what she has to say.” Klayton commented.

They stepped out of the car and walked towards the restaurant. A hostess came out to greet them. “Hello welcome, you gentlemen must Kayla’s guest. Please do come in.”

They all smiled and nodded at her. Klayton held the door for everyone and then they were inside. The hostess then escorted them to a round table that was in the center of the room. She handed them each a menu after they sat down and left as their waitress stepped in. Nero and Dante planned to be as precautious as possible, and refu
sed to order anything.

Klayton however, was hungry. “I’ll have the steak medium done, mash potatoes and steam veggies, and a glass of red wine please. Wait, you know what? I’ll do a bottle instead. House wine, please.”

The waitress wrote it down and then smiled. ”Okay, sir. I will bring you some garlic bread with balsamic and tomato sauce for the meantime as we prepare your food.”

  “Thank you, so much.”

As the waitress left Dante looked at his brother. “Dude, what the hell?”

  “What? I’m hungry.”

  “Unbelievable.” His brother said.

It was then that Kayla entered the building. She was wearing a black dress with dark heels underneath and she had around her neck an onyx necklace. Behind her, were her bodyguards for the evening Carla and Markham.

“You were not lying about her beauty.” Dante commented.

The waitress brought Klayton his meal, wine, and bread at the same time. Kayla sat down, and her bodyguards sat next to her.

Klayton began to slice a piece of his steak and then eating it. “Why is he the only one eating?” She asked and Klayton shrugged as he took another bite of his steak.

“I just realized that this is the only time that I will consume blood, but I bet that you eat yours rare, huh?” Klayton used a napkin to wipe his lips clean, then he smiled at her as he raised his cup of wine at her and then drank it.

She was fascinated by how easy going and relax he was, while she felt how tense Dante and Nero were. “You two should order something. We might be here for a while, and ‘m going to eat. Why would I poison my restaurant?”

  “You own this?” Klayton asked.

“Yeah, I always wanted to own a restaurant. A legit business. Now I have seventeen more across the world. How’s the food? I only hire the best chefs.

“It’s delicious. Please let your cooks know.”
