The cookie remains were quickly gathered and hidden along with the uneaten cookies in the corner of Indigo’s toy chest. Surely her Pappa would never look there, she thought.
Now bonded even closer by the desire not to wound the sorcerer’s delicate feelings, the group settled in to chat privately with Indigo. As they shared their secrets of how to keep their sorcerers happy, the newest arrival tried to remember all their advice. It seemed that everyone had great ideas to be happy here.
Almost instantly, Indigo felt comfortable enough to ask some questions. “Um, there’s no bathroom here. I mean, there’s a room for bathing, but no toilet.” She looked around the nodding women. “Really? There’s not a toilet in anyone’s home?”
“Toilets do not exist here,” Primrose said in a voice that sounded like her sorcerer, Andri.
“That’s what Hagan said,” Indigo chimed in.
“I bet you read age play books back home, didn’t you? We all did!” Sienna questioned and laughed when Indigo felt her cheeks flame with an instant blush.
“Really? You all read those books?” she asked, looking around the circle. The unanimous nods made her laugh. “So, your Pappas care for you the same way Hagan insists he looks after me?”
“It’s their way,” Violet answered before admitting openly, “I know it’s not the norm for back home, but it doesn’t look like we’re going back home. I know Garrick loves me. I can see it in his eyes every time he looks at me. I like it.”
A chorus of “me, too” rang out around the circle.
“I do, too,” Indigo admitted.
A companionable silence descended as they all stopped to take a drink of the tea. It was delicious. It didn’t taste like tea, but the liquid was dark and sweet. The newest droblin looked around the circle and smiled.
Primrose, next to her, caught her reaction to being part of this group. “I know. You feel like you were meant to be here… with us! We all felt it, too,” she whispered.
“The best feeling ever,” Indigo agreed and raised her cup to take another drink.
Chapter 23
“Indigo! Come here.” Hagan’s stern tone made Indigo’s bottom flinch in anticipation.
As she dragged her feet to the nursery, Indigo tried to figure out what she had done wrong. There was no mistaking the message woven into his voice. She was in trouble.
Hagan knelt next to the open toy chest. On the floor was a t-shirt that he had created for her that had been neatly folded around a mass of unrecognizable crumbs. “I take it that the cookies didn’t taste as you remembered?”
“Well… no. They tasted just a bit different from how real cookies do,” she admitted trying to break the news to him gently.
“I’m sorry that they were not what you wished. We will try again,” he promised. “However, all you needed to do was to tell me they weren’t good. Instead, you lied to your Pappa and hid the evidence,” he said with a gesture to the t-shirt. It and all the crumbs disappeared immediately.
“I’m sorry, Pappa. I didn’t want to hurt your feelings,” she quickly tried to excuse her behavior.
“A lie can not stand between a droblin and her sorcerer,” he answered with steel in his voice. Standing, he took her hand and led her to the small chair in the corner of the room. “Your punishment will be to sit in this chair until the sand escapes from this timer.” With a gesture, he created an old-fashioned timer where the grains slowly escaped from the upper chamber, filling the lower section. One more wave whisked away her clothing, leaving her completely nude.
Indigo wrapped her arms around herself, feeling very exposed. “Pappa…” she began and then closed her mouth when he raised one eyebrow. She had started to tell him she was cold, but she knew he would read her mind and know that she’d lied again. Unable to escape her punishment, she allowed him to help her sit on the low chair that faced the blank walls before it.
“I will be back when the sand runs out to deliver your spanking,” Hagan informed her before leaving the room.
Looking desperately at the timer, Indigo decided that corner time was the worst, especially when a spanking would follow. Alone with just her thoughts and guilty conscience, she knew sitting here would feel like forever. Glancing over her shoulder at Stretch, who waited in her crib, she debated dashing over to pick up the stuffie for company. Quickly, she turned back around, realizing that her spanking could get worse.
“Good choice, blueness,” the deep voice rang out in the room.
“Darn talent,” she whispered aloud.
Chapter 24
Captured in the isolation chamber, the dark figurine’s energy began to dwindle. Composed of a large number of magic wielders with scant power, the conglomeration had given them united magic as they would never have experienced. It was an addictive rush.
The sorcerers could opt out of the group, allowing the figure to disappear. Not one had chosen this path. Having once experienced stronger magical abilities, not a single sorcerer had been willing to settle for their own limited powers once again.
Brodric and Bryson studied it as quickly as possible. Noting that it was diminishing in strength, the sorcerer twins knew that an outside force methodically eliminated the intermeshed attackers. Whoever or whatever led the evil against them did not hesitate to eliminate their troops to guard their secrets.
For now, the bits of information that had been gathered after each attack were disjointed and seemingly random. All the sorcerers of the twelve knew that this was not correct. They all fit together somehow to pinpoint those responsible.
Only three were left to come. Time was running out.
Chapter 25
United together, the droblins played tag while the sorcerers kept a watchful eye over them. Ryker was on edge. The time for his droblin to join the nine was quickly approaching. Having seen the threats that had menaced Amber and Indigo before their birthday, Ryker worried about his Rose.
A gentle touch to his knee drew Ryker from his thoughts. Smiling at the nine gathered droblins before him, Ryker greeted them warmly, “Yes, droblins. Do you have a question about my Rose?”
Indigo acted as their spokeswoman. “We want to try to warn Rose. Like everyone did for Amber and me before we arrived. Hopefully, she won’t be in any danger, but we need to try.”
“On her behalf, I thank you. What can I do to help?” he gently asked with a fond smile.
“Would you show us Rose? You know, back there?” Amber asked, her words falling over each other as she spoke quickly.
The droblins had not been concerned about Rose until that moment. While in the middle of their fun, each had stopped, knowing it was time. Without delay, they had approached Ryker.
“It would be my pleasure,” Ryker said solemnly. With his eyes closed, he transported a large cauldron of reflecting liquid from his laboratory to rest on the ground before him. This was his window into Rose’s world. A large yellow price sticker proclaiming the name of a discount store in the droblins’ world drew everyone’s attention. Even his fellow sorcerers.
Aahs surrounded him as he revealed his secret power. Ryker had the ability to transport items between the two worlds. Of all the sorcerers’ magical skills, this was the only one that bridged between the droblins’ former life and the one with their sorcerer.
The droblins quickly knelt around the cauldron and peered into the black liquid. Ryker closed his eyes to concentrate and displayed an image of his beautiful Rose. A thin bottom in a pair of stained coveralls leaned inside the hood of a large truck. She was perched on the bumper of the semi and lifted onto her tiptoes to reach.
“Be careful not to startle her droblins. I do not wish her to fall,” he warned. Realizing that they were not listening to him but focused on his droblin, Ryker watched carefully.
Rose’s torso lifted from the engine block that she stretched across as something tickled her. Peering down at the complicated wiring below her, the young mechanic’s eyes widened as she watched different coated wires flash co
lors to form letters. T R U S T N O O N E ! repeated three times in rapid sequence before returning to their normal, dirty, black color.
She rubbed her forehead in disbelief, leaving a smear of grease. Time for a break, she decided. Jumping down from the bumper, Rose looked around before spotting her insulated flask. Pouring a cup, she frowned down at the muddy liquid inside. She never put her container anywhere but on her bench. Why had she found it on the shelf by the door?
That message popped back into her head, causing her to hesitate inches from her mouth. Before she could change her mind, the slight woman walked to the industrial sink and emptied her cup and the bottle. She’d do without coffee today.
As the picture faded away, Ryker looked at the concentration on the young women’s faces. “Thank you, droblins, for warning my Rose. If you’ve helped her survive until she is transported here, I will owe you a big favor.”
“Can you transport anything from our world?” Primrose asked, pointing to the large, plastic bowl before them.
“There is a magical cost for anything that crosses from that world to ours. Bringing this vessel here consumed extra magic that I had compiled over the span of a year. Why?” he asked.
“Oh,” Violet said with disappointment.
“What is it that you would like to have from your own world?” he asked, lifting an eyebrow in curiosity. The other sorcerers had shared with him humorous stories of their droblins. Each had their own personalities. Rose was different than the nine who sat in front of him.
“Chocolate chip cookies,” they breathed together in unison.

Excerpt of Brad: Dr. Richards’ Littles 6
Brad breathed the late afternoon air deeply on his walk to the hospital. It was only a few miles from his small apartment, and his path led him through some beautiful areas of the city. Brad enjoyed getting some fresh air and exercise before he concentrated fully on helping the most injured patients recover. His job was challenging and sad sometimes but very rewarding when patients made amazing recoveries.
Brad walked past the ornate gates of the Burmingham estate. He had never met any of the Burminghams. They operated at a much higher socioeconomic level than an ICU nurse did. The elder Burminghams had moved from the family estate to a posh retirement area in Texas. As far as Brad knew, the only resident now in the huge mansion was the son and heir, Thorston Burmingham. He ran the largest bank in the city and was well known for his philanthropic activities. Brad stopped for a moment and looked through the wrought-iron gates to wonder what it would be like to live in a huge home like that. It would have everything. A little voice in the back of Brad’s head told him that it might be pretty lonely too without a family to fill the rooms with life.
Two huge German shepherds appeared at the gate to bark ferociously at him. “Hi, guys!” Brad said carefully stopping to talk to the two dogs. “It’s just me. I’m headed back to work. It really is a nice day today.” Brad liked dogs a lot. He couldn’t have one in his apartment, and his twelve-hour shifts would not be good for a dog to be cooped up in an apartment, anyway. So, he just talked to everyone else’s dogs. He’d been working on these two for months trying to make friends. They were very stubborn about maintaining their guard dog attitudes.
Suddenly a large, handsome man in his forties, appeared on the inside of the gate. He had black hair feathered lightly with silver and amazing grey eyes. “Heel, Zorro, and Villa. That’s enough now.” The dogs immediately stopped barking at Brad and circled back to stand at the man’s sides. “Can I help you, sir?” he addressed to Brad in a curt tone.
“Um, Hi! I’m sorry. I’m Brad Murphy. I’m just walking to work at the hospital,” Brad gestured vaguely at the blue scrubs that he was wearing. “I didn’t mean to bother you. I just like dogs and yours are beautiful beasts. I couldn’t resist chatting with them.”
The man’s grey eyes seemed to peer deep into him. He considered Brad from head to toe. Brad knew what he was seeing. Brad was a paradox. He was short. Only about 5’4” and slightly built. In his baggy scrubs, he looked downright skinny. But Brad was strong. He needed muscles to help lift and shift patients at the hospital. He had long dark, brown hair that he wore pulled into a bun at the back of his head. His brown eyes were calm and gentle. He was very reassuring to his patients. He just looked like a good person.
“I’m afraid, Zorro and Villa, will not make good friends for you. They are trained to patrol the estate,” answered the other man. He was wearing a dark suit that had obviously been expertly tailored to fit his wide, athletic build.
Brad ]recognized him immediately from pictures in the local paper. “Again, I’m sorry to bother you or Zorro and Villa, Mr. Burmingham. I’ll excuse myself, so I can make it to work on time.” Brad smiled and waved as he walked quickly away.
“Whew! I guess I’m not supposed to talk to the dogs anymore,” he thought to himself. “It was great to see Thorston Burmingham in person. He is amazingly attractive.” Brad shook his head. No way Thorston Burmingham would be interested in him. Brad had known his entire life that he was different. He was attracted to very powerful men. He wanted a strong man to be in charge of their relationship. He’d dabbled with age play briefly with a couple of other men. But they had only been interested in age play as a pretend game occasionally. Brad had been fascinated with the idea of having an every-day Daddy to make the rules of his household. Thorston looked like a man that would not brook any mischief.
