About the Editor
Bill Pronzini was born in Petaluma, California. His earliest Western fiction was published under his own name and a variety of pseudonyms in Zane Grey Western Magazine. Among his most notable Western novels are The Last Days of Horse-Shy Halloran (1987) and Firewind (1989). He is also the editor of numerous Western story collections, including Under the Burning Sun: Western Stories (Five Star Westerns, 1997) by H. A. DeRosso, Renegade River: Western Stories (Five Star Westerns, 1998) by Giff Cheshire, and Tracks in the Sand by H. A. DeRosso (Five Star Westerns, 2001). His own Western story collection, All the Long Years (Five Star Westerns, 2001), was followed by Burgade’s Crossing (Five Star Westerns, 2003), Quincannon’s Game (Five Star Westerns, 2005), and Coyote and Quarter-Moon (Five Star Westerns, 2006). He also wrote Crucifixion River with Marcia Muller. Its original title novella won a Spur Award from the Western Writers of America for the best short fiction of 2007.
