Gypsy Soul: A Bad Boy Protector Romance (Lost Boys Book 3) Page 19

  “It’s okay.”

Felicity shakes her head. “It’s not though.” Her head drops and she catches it in her hands. “I don’t know what in the fuck happened.”

What happened is the same thing that happens to millions of women every year. Some on purpose.

  Some on accident.

  Some due to bad math.

  Which is where we’re sitting.

“I thought everything was fine.” Her head jerks my way, blue eyes rimmed in pink and serious as shit. “It should have been fine.”

“It is fine.” I kneel down in front of her. “There is nothing not fine about this.”

Her chin barely quivers in a show of fear I rarely see from this woman. “What about King?”

“Fuck King. Don’t let him ruin this for us.” I take her face in my hands. “Don’t let him take this from you.”

Her lips roll inward as the tears start to fall.

Then she’s laughing, falling forward into my arms, knowing I will catch her.

Because I’m her ride or die too.

I just haven’t had to prove it yet.

The laughter keeps pouring out of her. It’s a sound of pure fucking joy.

I rock back onto my ass, taking her with me as I lean against the side of the shower. I shove her hair back so I can kiss her face. As much of it as I can manage to reach.

Her blue eyes are bright and still shining with tears as she gazes into mine.

“We’re going to have a baby.”

I reach up and drag the plastic wand from the counter and peek at the two pink lines. “That’s what the stick says.”

Her head falls down to rest on my shoulder. “I can’t believe this is happening.”

“We should make the trip to Cookeville to tell your daddy and Nanna in person.” I pull her closer. “Whenever you think it’s safe to say.”

“Well.” Felicity sniffs. “I guess we should wait until I’ve been to the doctor. Make sure everything is okay.”

I rest my head against hers. I know she’s still a little scared. So am I.

  Scared this might not stay.

Scared this will be too much for her. That Felicity’s health will suffer.

But the fear is nothing compared to the deep sense of contentment I feel in this moment.

Knowing that I will finally have what I’ve always wanted.

That I will have had a hand in giving Felicity the same.

That we have so many people to share it with us.

  “I want to get married.”

Felicity stills in my arms. “What?”

I lean back, looking her dead in the eye. “I want to get married.”

She blinks a few times. “When?”

I check my watch. “It’s too late to apply for a license today.”

“You want to do it now?” Her voice squeaks just a little.

I’m guessing Felicity never expected she wouldn’t be the one pushing marriage.

  Then she met me.

“I want to do it yesterday.” I brush my fingers over the skin of her cheek. “Do you want to wait?”

If she says yes I won’t be happy.

But I’ll do it. I will give this woman anything she fucking wants, anytime she fucking wants it.

Her eyes search mine for a second. Finally she shakes her head, the soft brown hair I hold in my hands every night shifting over her shoulders. “I don’t want to wait.”

  I start to smile.

  “But.”

I knew there would be a but.

I also think I know what it is.

“You have to ask my dad.”

  “Already did that.”

Her head bounces back a little. “You did?”

I nod. “On our first visit.”

Her hand comes to rest on my chest. “I want to get married with our family all here.” Her eyes move down to where her fingers tangle in the necklaces I always wear. “Nothing big. I just want them all to be here.”

“I think we can make that happen.” I can imagine how her family and mine will get along. “I think your Nanna will fit right in with the rest of the girls.”

“She Skypes in on girls’ night sometimes.” Felicity’s smile slips for just a second. “She’s planning a trip here anyway.”

“Then let’s see if everyone else can come into town too.” I press a kiss to her lips.

“Okay.” Felicity glances around the room. “We should probably get off the bathroom floor.”

“It’s cleaner than most people’s kitchen sink.” Cook’s been scrubbing the firehouse like a maniac since that night at the warehouse. I think it must calm him down.

I sure as hell hope it does. Otherwise I think he’s losing his fucking mind.

I help Felicity up, holding her carefully. She lifts a brow at me.

“Get used to it, Beanie. If you thought I was bad before It’s about to get way worse.”

She rolls her eyes. “I’m not sick.” Her nostrils flare. “God I hope I don’t get sick.”

“We’ll deal with it if you do.” Luckily Felicity has filled out a little since she moved into the firehouse. Maybe it’s Cook’s breakfasts.

Or maybe it’s finally finding her place. Being accepted for who she is, and not just by me.

“You gonna tell the girls?” I wrap one arm around her waist and use it to direct her into our bedroom.

She gives me a questioning glance but follows along. “Probably not until I know everything is okay.” She shrugs. “I just want to be sure.”

  Me too.

Then I want to go full-speed ahead.

I’m going to start that now.

I slide open the top drawer of the chest as I pass, pulling out the ring box that’s been there since I talked to her daddy.

I push her toward the bed, carefully easing her down to sit on the edge of the mattress. Then I go to my knees for the second time today.

For the woman I fucking love.

The woman who loves me back.

The woman who will do anything for me.

  I’ve seen her prove it.
