“Simon! I won fair and square! And I called it first!” I yelled halfheartedly.
He gave me that dang half smile. “Oh, Kate, don’t you remember? Whoever gets it, gets it!” He turned and ran, leaving me with my mouth hanging open.
I shook my head. “Dang it.” He was right; whoever gets it, gets it.
