“Hi, Mommy,” he says in that voice that melts my heart.
“Good morning, sleepyhead!” I swoop in and scoop him into my arms and nuzzle his neck. It never fails to make him giggle, which never fails to make me laugh as well. A few minutes later his dad comes in and helps him with his bath while I head downstairs and get breakfast ready.
We eat as a family, and Kyle tells us about the dream he had that involved him piloting a “robot bird” around an island with Superman and Spiderman.
It warms my heart to hear his little stories, to watch him grow and learn to speak and do things on his own. I never even thought about being a mother until I met Damon, and then something sparked inside me, and I couldn’t wait for him to breed me.
I do the cleaning while Damon helps Kyle get his outdoor clothes on and then we go for a long walk together as a family. If an outsider was to spy in on our day today, they’d think we were just a nice, sweet family. An older man and a younger woman who met somehow, maybe at work, and settled down together. Who would guess that in reality Damon was an ex-mafia boss and I was his stepdaughter?
No one.
But our little secret never fails to make me smile.
We have enough money for ten lifetimes, which allows me to focus fulltime on being a mother while Damon channels his new free time into his woodshop. It started with just milling lumber from the trees on the acreage we own then slowly progressed into tables, then small cabinets and then chairs. I’ve told him he should open up his own showroom many times, but he’s such a perfectionist that I think it’s going to take some real nagging on my part to get him to do it.
“Someone’s tired,” Damon whispers as we get back to the house. Kyle’s head is hanging as he struggles to get his boots off at the door.
“I’m…I’m not tired…” he mutters, on the verge of tipping over. I lean down and scoop my beautiful son into my arms and carry him back up to his room. He’s doing his best to be a big boy like his dad, but he’s got a lot of growing to do still, and I can’t wait to watch it all.
Nothing makes me feel more like a mother than tucking him into bed and leaving his bedroom door cracked behind me. I head back down to our bedroom and find Damon waiting for me.
In the blink of an eye, I’m in his arms. Grinning, he tugs my pants down over my hips and slides an eager hand between my thighs, instantly reigniting the passion we’ve had to push down for the last couple of hours.
My back arches, and my mouth hangs open as he begins to apply pressure, knowing exactly where to touch me to make me go crazy.
This is my life now.
Perfection. Nothing more – nothing less.
My stepdad turned daddy turned husband. I belong to him now and wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Now, my love.” He smiles, staring deeply into my eyes. “Where were we?”
