“How will I ever be able to thank you for all that you have done?” Peter said, looking at Gabriella.
As she beamed at the old man, Nicolas slung his arm around his Gabriella’s waist. “Well,” Nick said to Peter, “you’ll have two weeks to think about it because Gabi will be away on holiday with her rather dashing husband.” He smirked.
“What?” Gabriella said, surprised.
“Here’s your luggage,” Sarah announced, checking off something on her tablet. “You’re booked, and your plane departs in three hours, leaving you time for lunch at the airport.”
Nick grinned. “Thank you, Sarah. I couldn’t have organized it all without you.”
“Organized what all?” Gabriella said, still bemused.
Peter laughed. “My dear, just enjoy the surprise. Forget about helping everyone else and go live your own life with your husband.”
“Well said, Mr. Newland,” Nick commented, slinging his dazed wife’s arm through his and pulling on the handle of their heavy suitcase. “See you all in two weeks.” He waved as he directed them to the waiting cab.
Epilogue
Bon Voyage
Gabriella snuggled her nose against her husband’s shoulder. She then snapped open her eyes, realizing she had passed out and had probably been snoring rather loudly on the plane.
“Morning beautiful.” Nick greeted her with a kiss.
Gabriella giggled. “It’s so strange seeing you out of your captain’s stripes.”
“A welcome change.” He smiled. “So, do you like your surprise yet?”
“I still don’t know where we’re going,” Gabriella admitted, the excitement bubbling through her veins. “But it doesn’t really matter, as long as I’m with you.”
“And I you, Gabi,” Nick said before kissing her again.
